I have to correct your step one. Before leveling you need to check that you will reach water/power in and sewage out. You've gotten used to eyeballing that but newbies not so much (as newbies we know.) Love your channel!
Very good point. We simply don't think of it because we always have multiple hoses so that we can put the trailer exactly where we want it. But you are right, we have had to adjust when the campground (for some unknown reason) puts all the connections at the very front of the campsite.
I agree. I also use a tape measure to visually check for clearance on the slides to make sure they will not strike electric post, water pipes, and any overhead obstructions.
@@TheGrayAdventuresI am new to your channel, and I have to say great video. I don't own a camper or travel trailer, but I would love to. I have to ask, was that a Camco power cable?, and what in-line water filter do you guys use?
Loved this setup video. I've been looking at trailers lately and think it would be a good addition to our family and being able to get out in nature would be a life saver
Awesome upload just watch i was looking for. Cant wait to get out this into nature this summer its going to be more satisfying than ever and much needed.
One thing I do different. When the sewer hose is in the box, I shorten it as much as it will then connect both ends together. Makes a rectangle that fits nicely in the box. No mess and since sealed, will stay near that size.
My hubby and I just bought a RV Trailer 25ft though it's our first time we pick it up May 19 2022 actually so watching your video helps bonus is my hubby long haul Trucker so hauling backing up parking easy the balancing hookups kinda scare me lol.Shoukd be interesting.
Odd to say but setting up the RV when we got to our Favorite park was an enjoyable part of it for me and my wife! I guess making a home appealed to both of us! Putting the slides and awning out setting up rugs, chairs and grill! 🤷🏻♂️🤠🕺🏼
Did you run into any issues the first few times you were out? As Rachel mentioned, we almost dropped our trailer twice because we didn't do things in the right order. You learn fast if you have to do it over and over again.
@@TheGrayAdventures Amen to that! You do learn fast. 😄 I don't think we have enough time to cover the bone headed mistakes we've made. Thankfully nothing to to serious. You live and learn!
The sad thing is that even after 14 months on the road, we still make mistakes. What encourages us is that we hear that families who have been doing this for 5+ years do the same. It's a part of life.
Hi there -- we've been out a few years between a pop up and now a travel trailer camper -- been looking around to get some tips and hacks to make the travel easier -- The one thing that I picked up and would share is wehn you are getting in the site with a slide - You didn't address this in your video - most people use a tape measure -- what I do now is = I have a peice of 1x2 painted orange that is 6 in longer than the distance from my tires to the end of the extended slide - so before you back in (or pull through) put the 1x2 down at the closest obstacle and keep the wheels to the outside of the 1x2 and boom!! there you are placed with enough room for the slide . Just a thought to make set up a bit easier -- Happy Travels
Love your guys channel!!! Thank you for all that your doing! I’ll never talk my hubby in to going full time but we’re enjoying our tt as often as possible.
Nice video, however you forgot to mention a surge protector prior to installing your power and a water pressure regulator. Other than that, great job. 👍
You're missing a few vital ingredients: water pressure regulator, hose support, and a droop in the hose to make a "p" trap so you can leave your grey water valve open without stinking up the park.
Beginner tip 1: If your spotter gets outside of line of sight, stop immediately and tell them they need to get in a position where you can see them in a mirror.
Were selling out house, and rv'ing cross country. likely from here in CA to TX, then to FL for the majority. Were a pack of 2 adults, 2 kids (10 & 8) and 2 dogs. 32ft trailer with quad cab f250. Its amazing how similar our stories seem! Thanks for the insight !
@@leisacarnahan7647 creativerv.com has a whole video on what kind of jobs you can have from traveling in your own RV. I am not out on the road but have been considering it for quite some time oh, and so I listen to a lot of people. She's really informative, and good with the video. Every Sunday she does a show called rvq 2 something I can't remember the whole thing that is she is created or v.com and rvq I think of the name of that show , and she has it every Sunday, to answer questions and bring up various subjects about living out on the road.
One comment about the stabilizer jacks... the higher the supports the better. The jacks are most effective at maintaining the support when the angle of the arms are 90 degrees or less. We just use a couple extra boxes of Linx levelers for the stabs. 4-5 per stab and we get solid support
Very informative video. I noticed you didn't use a surge protector for your electric or a water regulator to control the water pressure. Is there any reason you choose not to use those or maybe you did use and I didn't see it. Either way, great video.
We actually do use both. The regulator is connected directly to our water filter and the surge protector is the Camco circuit analyzer/surge protector. Never plug the RV in without it.
Just saw this video. The x chocks are NOT for chocking wheels !!!! They are ONLY for stabilizing trailer !!! You still need wheel chocks. It states this on box & instructions. Please be safe out there. Adding blocks under jacks to reduce extension makes a wold of difference.
There's the app we used. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.nixgame.bubblelevel Just open the app, place it on the floor inside the RV and you'll know if you're level front to back and side to side.
We’ve been camping for 7 years and have never seen a sewer dump at the front of the site. Ridiculous! I would have just used the dump if they had one. I noticed you used X-chocks but did nor chock behind your wheels unless I missed it. X-chocks are not a replacement for wheel chocks. I believe it says that in their instructions. Overall, a good video for beginners.
You have to level side to side first before the chocks go in since you need to raise the tires on one side of the RV. If you put the chocks in first, you'll destroy them.
We do have a water pressure regulator on our hose and we did show our surge protector in the video as well. This was more about setup than the individual items that are used. But yes, all the items you mentioned are very useful. Thanks for sharing.

Full time as in living and traveling 24/7/365 ? Is that what a lot of folks do? Is that what the people in this video do?
Oh I Just read something in the description that explains that that is what they're doing. Thank you.
Might be a good idea to check the pedestal for functioning water and electrical. Place a surge protector in the outlet...check it. Just a thought.
Thank you for sharing! Love your videos👍🏻
Great video brother
Great job guys!!!

3:29 Pro Tip - use extra wood blocks to shorten the distance the scissor jacks have to travel = better stabilization

Yeah, we forgot about the water pressure regulator since we had it permanently attached to the filter.

waiting on house to sell.. hopefully soon!
So with the water and sewage,is there something special you need if your staying in a cold climate?
Do u use a surge protector? Thanks!
I was wondering how you financially support yourselves on the road. We are thinking of doing this but not sure how to work on the road.
We have a few businesses that we are able to run from the road, as long as we have a good internet connection.
What type of businesses do you have and what would you recommend?

Hey, when you were connecting the hose, I noticed the little blue thing. What's it for? And where did you get the orange leveling?
The blue thing on the hose is the water filter and the orange leveling blocks are at any RV store or Amazon.
what's the difference in connecting the city and fresh water?
About how long does it take for the propane tank to empty? Average

Electric hook up ?
Those xchocks are stabilizers only. The instructions specifically state to block the tires first. Kinda misleading and might get someone hurt.

@@TheGrayAdventures didn't show the connection to the campsite's black water, only the RV end, but that's okay, I found it on a different channel.

What, no water pressure gage, no surge protector, and no see through connector at surage tube. You need that stuff.
