Wish I had known it was coming up the valley so soon, I would have loved to get pics of it going through Eugene! And that cab car looks like it was designed for "Thomas the Tank" or by Disney for the movie "Cars"....
lol, yeah sorry, i meant to edit that out. This train wasn't originally scheduled to stop here, but due to the 2 hour gap between trains, it was able to. Do you happen to know if the consist will have a matching engine? or will it have a genesis unit on the point?
If you mean power as in electricity for the coffee makers and lights, then yes, it does produce power, however, there is not, nor will there ever be, a motor/engine to propel this train in any way shape or form.
Perhaps you are not understanding, there is no motor in the rear facing CAB CAR, nor will there ever be The unit (CAB CAR) weighs 53 tonnes (106,000 lbs) very unsafe to be travelling at 79mph. You really need to research before you comment again.
That is an excellent idea, IF they were to power the cab car, a genset would be very reasonable. And, a DASH 9 weighs approx 450,000lbs, a heavyweight at best, this cab car weighs barely 1/4 of that. I can see it easily derailing upon the impact of a load semi truck weighing nearly as much at 79mph
Its called a CAB CAR. Please think before you speak. BTW safety has EVERYTHING to do with hitting people. The human skull is very capable of piercing through glass and killing an engineer or conductor.
BIG NEWS IN SALEM! We got a new TRAIN! LOL just kidding. I do agree that is ugly in the front! but it's pretty cool. We still got pretty old trains runin down here.
As an alternative to 30 year old superliner or amfleet stock they're pretty good but ohmigod that cab car is uuuugly. Let's face it, a lot of European train sets are... distinctive.
oh gosh traingeek, dont even insult an F40PH over that thing.as a person who used to have head end rides in F40's,i would feel much safer in an f40 than one of those ugly things. lol: P

The TRAIN is the exact same, the CAB CAR is different and perhaps you did not hear the last sentence I said in the video.

They are made in America by the Spanish company (Talgo)
It looks like an f59phi and an f40ph had a baby.

Lol yeah. It will be testing between Portland and Eugene next month (supposedly)
The first ever viewing in salem, oregon. It has been seen heading north from sacramento, but no further north than where it is now.
Darn, I was doing really good with no dislikes. Too bad, I wonder why the person disliked my video?
Yeah, that pretty much sums it up.
Dodge, you need to do more research before you automatically assume the powercar's a cab car
good point
Agree with editorial comments at end. Looks like the result of a contest for ugliest snout on a train! But thanks for uploading!

I know it's only a cab car but I think it world be pretty neat if it was powered, then Amtrak could have another high speed set.
exactly.

The FIRST ever viewing? Alright, tell that to everyone that saw that thing on its route up here. Nice giggle by the way.
Its because everyone hates the looks of the talgo train set.

hahaha, thats so funny. I agree with your styling points
I agree 100%. The F40 has a terrible ride, it only weighs about 60k lbs

"That is the ugliest thing in the known universe"
Yeah, that seems about right.
Hahaha lol. never thought of that.
No, no I haven't.
