Nevermoor is DEFINITELY worth the hype 😍 ahh I really need to read Steinbeck's books. and also Persuasion; I love Jane Austen and still need to read that one. great video x
Nevermoor and Stardust are on my TBR shelf so looking forward to them! I agree that Jane Austen has such a comforting quality to it, and I do enjoy them. However, my only gripe about Austen is that I really love a lot of descriptive writing (I love to read descriptions of houses, scenery, clothing, daily activities, etc) and Austen uses mainly conversation to push along her plots. I read A Great and Terrible Beauty years ago and remember really enjoying it.
These types of videos are dangerous for my TBR ahaha I'm tempted to try East of Eden at some point. I've heard a number of people enjoy that one most of his books. A Great and Terrible Beauty is one I definitely need to pick up soon, I have it sat on my shelves waiting!
East of Eden by John Steinbeck is just so good that there isn't enough hype. It is quite long, which puts some people off, but it is worth it for sure!
Agreed! I read it at the start of the year, it was my first Steinbeck and I didn’t expect to like it but it’s definitely one of my favourite books of all time now!
we also read of mice and men in school. one of my favourites from secondary school readings... it inspired me a lot back then too, with its portrayal of mental illness especially during the 30s.
Currently reading Nevermoor, and really enjoying it! Also, I read Never let me go because of your review. Stardust is one of the Neil Gaiman's books that I haven't read... I really need to get to it!
I really enjoyed this Jean, thanks! I've already bought the John Green book on your recommendation. I loved the hunger games & the Jane Austen books that I've read. Also really enjoyed Nevermoor. I've seen the films of stardust & never let me go, but I've never read them. I've had my first Neil Gaiman book on the shelf for years... maybe I should read it this year!
Thanks for the video. I appreciated that you mentioned several older books as well as new ones. Can’t agree with you enough about Jane Austen and Of Mice and Men. OMaM destroyed me when I read it. I also love Kazuo Ishiguro’s writing although for me Never Let Me Go was not his best work. I loved The Remains of the Day by him and would highly recommend.
I agree with sooo many of these! I also read Of Mice and Men at school but really enjoyed it, I found the analysis in class actually made me like it more! Never Let Me Go and The Hunger Games are some of my favourite books and I totally think they are worth the hype, I'm planning on rereading both of them next year because it's been a while! I've only read P+P by Austen (LOVE) and S+S (was okay for me) but I really want to read more, especially Persuasion and Emma! I've tried reading Stardust on audiobook a few times but for some reason I always struggle concentrating but I love the movie and think I could really love the book too so I'm going to try the physical copy. Love this video and agree with so many of your choices!
While I'm in "rereading mode" I will revisit Of Mice and Men. Another short Steinbeck novel you might check out is The Moon Is Down. I've never heard any hype for it, so a bit off topic.
Oh you really need to read Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman! It's my favorite by him, it's so so good (and there is a sequel coming soon :D). I haven't read Stardust yet so I think it will be my next one.
If you ever do read more Steinbeck, I'd love to hear your thoughts on Grapes of Wrath. Such an amazing book. Although people do dislike it too haha. And btw, I love your videos because your passion for books is just amazing and you can see it so clearly from the way you talk about them. ^^
I loved everything we read at school! I remember everyone in my class complaining about overanalysing ruining it but I always felt like the conversations brought the book to life for me. I guess that’s why I do booktube and book clubs and stuff now 😍
Nevermoor is so worth the hype for me too and Wundersmith - which I finished yesterday!! - also didn't disappoint in any way. It's a fantastic series already. It makes me kind of sad that I did read the second book already, because now it's just waiting for the next one. Nver Let Me Go had such an original and unexpected tone and plot for me. It's definitely not like anything else I've ever read. I wasn't completely blown away by it, but among the other dystopian books I've read, it was a breath of fresh air! I really want to read another Ishiguro. Saga has been on my radar for so long, but since I'm not really a comic book reader, I've never actually gotten it. I do really want to try it still, though! Maybe I should try and get my library to get it ;p
@@JeansThoughts I am reading it on my Kindle for my night book, you know i read a book specifically before sleep to calm me down. I always choose fantasy
I enjoyed Nevermoor, but I didn’t love it, mainly because I found some of it really annoying and some of it too carefully cinematic. Loved Turtles All the Way Down and have recc’d it to so many friends. My fave of your list here? Persuasion!
Of Mice and Men wasn't worth the hype for me, personally, but I highly highly recommend East of Eden by Steinbeck. I think it gets neglected because of Mice and Men and Grapes of Wrath, but it is super atmospheric and my favourite of his!
I loved Nevermoor haven't found the second quite as amazing but not quite halfway through (plus living up to the first was always going to be hard 😉 ) Persuasion I didn't love as much as I thought I would . I am planning on re reading it next year though because sometimes I find in a re read you pick up elements that you missed XX I am currently reading and loving Emma Xxx Definitely going to check out your other recommendations Xxx
Oh trust me I thought that until I was about halfway or 3 quarters the way through. It got really exciting and everything starts to make sense. Did you like it?
I've seen the film of Stardust and really liked it but there were a lot of things I felt I would have liked to see more of or in more depth so I should read the book!
your reaction to the 'past her prime' main character in Persuasion just made me sooo happy. What a pompostrous assumption that one over the age of 25 may find a noble husband to devote her humble time to! In what degraded cicrumstances would one gentlemen in want of a wife be, to explore such low circles of society? Shocking.
I have already read most of these, and I loved them! (except a great and terrible beauty, which I enjoyed but was not fascinated by at any point, I found the plot quite predictable and I didn't enjoy the magic as much as I thought I would). I'll try Nevermoor and I think I will re-read The Hunger Games series! Thanks for the recommandations
Have you heard of Battle Royale? I haven’t read it in over 10 years, but it is quite similar to the hunger games, and also Shirley Jackson’s the Lottery. It’s a Japanese novel where a group of kids are taken to an island (I think) and must kill each other off. It’s closer to the Lottery in theme, but more like the Hunger Games in the premise
Loved this video, although I feet very rarely read any hyped books as about 99% of them I haven't enjoyed and I literally hates of mice and men and The Hunger Games. In my opinion the only good thing about the Hunger Games is that it ended
Absolutely agree when it comes to "Never Let Me Go", but Stardust, while an somewhat enjoyable read, was mostly disappointing for its naivete, lack of depth and tendency to lay it on thick.
Man i could not get into of mice and men! I also read it in high school and i found it offensive 😕 Really want to read nevermoor though! And i loved turtles all the way down too 😊📚
Books that are totally worth the hype: The Raven Cycle series, ACOTAR, Strange the Dreamer, The Bell Jar, The Bear and the Nightingale, Uprooted and Spinning Silver. 😀 Books not worth the hype: The Night Circus, Milk and Honey, the Grisha series, Nevermoor (sorry about that, it just had too many Harry Potter references for me 🙈), Colleen Hoover's books. I'm planning on reading Libba Bray soon. 😀
I read Nevermoor for a book contest I was a part of! It’s such a good book! I’m getting the whole series (so far), for my birthday
Nevermoor is DEFINITELY worth the hype 😍 ahh I really need to read Steinbeck's books. and also Persuasion; I love Jane Austen and still need to read that one.
great video x
Wow. This complexion makeup looks gorgeous on you.

Great choices (as always) ... also your hair looks bloody beautiful here! Xx
Thank you ^_^
East of Eden by John Steinbeck is just so good that there isn't enough hype. It is quite long, which puts some people off, but it is worth it for sure!
Ok, I shall definitely consider that as my next read aha.

Nevermoor and the sequal Wundersmith was excellent. Highly recommended!
Currently reading Nevermoor, and really enjoying it! Also, I read Never let me go because of your review. Stardust is one of the Neil Gaiman's books that I haven't read... I really need to get to it!

I love when they color the pages. It looks so cool. I bought the black and red Six of Crows duology just for that. 😂

I agree actually, I've been wanting to read Neverwhere for ages aha - thankfully my library does have a copy!
There's going to be a Neverwhere sequel?!? I had no idea! Maybe it's time to reread Neverwhere.
I really liked TATWD and want to read Nevermoor asap!
Well for it's worth the hype ;)

Of Mice and Men had me in literal tears

And YES to Never Let Me Go being worth the hype!
Oooh I want to reread Stardust now
There are a lot of hyped books that I haven't read yet and I don't even know why. Maybe I will this year :D

I've read Persuasion but cannot remember a single part of it! Lol
I love nevermoor, i am reading it now.
So glad to hear it! I need to start the sequel ^_^

Loved this video, although I feet very rarely read any hyped books as about 99% of them I haven't enjoyed and I literally hates of mice and men and The Hunger Games. In my opinion the only good thing about the Hunger Games is that it ended
Lol The Hunger Games being mentioned is unexpected 😅 boy, do I miss waiting for the movies to come out!💔
I honestly love them aha.
They were surprisingly well written, especially for YA.
Wow!! Nevermore.. 💖💖💖
i love persuasion!!!!!
High five ^_^
