I am happy to say that I was blessed to live through the "GOLDEN YEARS" in this great country of ours. Sad to see that we have LOST so many iconic & treasured things now a days. I would LOVE to go back to these days , & not return to current days.

I won’t argue with you. I grew up in the 90’s and wish things were more like it was back then. And today’s kids will someday be elderly, and they will long for the days of their youth. That’s how it always has been, and always will be.

You're right. I feel that this was MORE than just memories of meals but memories of a bygone past that represented a little of what made the country great...families eating together in an open, public environment, the innocent joy of an evening out, just flat-out normalcy. Things that were beginning to slip away even before the pandemic because of so many of the traditional eat-in chain restaurants closing and people just grabbing takeout much of the time, and then coronavirus put another nail in the coffin, having so many of us closed tight behind our doors eating what we could grab at a drive-through or through a delivery app if we didn't feel like cooking sometimes. Times have changed and things may have become more convenient but sometimes I wonder whether things, although more rudimentary, were simply a little nicer on a day-to-day basis years ago.

Everything is readily available now but it’s garbage, no substance, quick made junk. Not just food either, nothing is built to last anymore, things used to be made sturdy and repairable so it could be cherished and passed down. Everything is temporary now, nobody stays in one place for long, nothing is valued or respected, I don’t like these days too much to be honest. Sorry just my 2c

When I was in medical school in Lexington KY from 1988-1992, during first and second year I would often go to Shoney’s breakfast buffet on the mornings when we had exams. The staff got to know me and made sure to give me a booth with a nice big table. I’d have a hearty breakfast and a few cups of coffee while I took a final look at my notes. By the time the exam began at 8 am, I was well fed and caffeinated and ready to rock it. It was a successful approach.

The Big Boy on Abercorn street in Savannah GA in the late 60s early 70s was another fave of mine when i was young .. My Mom and Dad had a 69 torino cobra and a 70 Boss 302 .. the mall was close by the Big Boy too .. My parents would cruise around town in their new muscle cars and they always cruised to the hot spots to eat .. great memories for a little boy from Otway NC !!
