  • This is the second video in a series about how we planned our small 42"x96" O scale layout. We run postwar, MPC, LTI and modern Lionel trains, MTH, RMT, and K-line on our current single loop FasTrack and tubular track layout. We will eventually build a second elevated track. Wait for the blooper at the end.

    I would like to share our family's love of o gauge trains. The bit with your daughter reminded me of myself as a little girl. My dad just passed away. His trains where huge. Look up the obituary of Richard Zawodniak of Carson City NV WE LOVE OUR TRAINS!!;

    You have a great looking train layout. I have a similar space situation as you do. With heating unit on one end and the electrical on the other end. I have trains from the post war and Lionel Legacy Engines. The way I wired my layout the post war engines and Legacy Engines can run at the same time. You are wright it is a lot of fun planing and building layouts. I enjoy sharing my layout though my YouTub channel. My first train set was a Christmas gift from my sister and brother. That was in 1953 and the set is still operating. Greetings Nick from New Jersey.

    So glad I came across your videos. Like you, I have a long history with 0 scale trains going back to a 1947 Lionel post war steamer #675 set my Dad got for me and my brother for Christmas. I still have that set and it runs beautifully! I really like the simplicity of your single track loop with a siding for the passenger station. I hope we get to see the village on your layout and what goes into the wiring, the interaction, etc. I also really like the river, and the nice mixture of tubular and fastrack. You have a beautiful layout - thanks for sharing!

    I'm looking for ways to blend mountain to desert scenery like southern California on a 4x8 layout.

    Excellent video! Thanks for sharing your expertise and experience. I am getting back into this hobby myself with my grandkids. Can you explain how you attached your track to the foam board? I need to minimize noise also with my layout. I was considering the homosote board or possibly just a 1" foam board layer. Thanks again!

    Like you, I have ZERO space in our house for a layout of my Lionel collection. I like the fact that you did yours is less than 4 x 8 and feel inspired to carve out some space in our basement. Will you be going into the actual track configurations? I would be interested to see things operating and moving. Thanks!

    Nice layout, you need more ground cover to make it more interesting and realistic! I use Woodland Scenics products
