Really useful, thank you, my a4 b7 couldn’t get into reverse anymore, it was out of adjustment, thanks to ur video ive been able re position it ( without the tool, the tool indeed would help a lot lol ) and everything works fine :)
I bought my 04 a4 6-speed almost two years ago, but two months ago my clutch started slipping, so I replaced the assembly with a new kit, replaced the dual mass flywheel, and the rear main seal since I was in there. After putting everything back together and taking it for a test drive I noticed that it was tough, on occasion to push the shift knob to the left in order to engage first and second ( I never touched the shift assembly except to remove where it attached to the transmission). It went away for a minute or two but then would return. Upon it occurring near the end of the test drive i decided to be a little more forceful and then I heard a loud pop (sounded like two brass bars hitting each other, and the tough shifting went away...for a month. After a month I lost 6th gear. Then two weeks later I lost 4th, and a week later, 3rd, and then I all I had left after another week was reverse. Its been sitting in the garage and ive recently purchased the $50 repair kit (Plastic seat, boot, retaining ring), but Im wondering whether it could be the transmission, and if so, would it fail as described in the above manner?
hi i have a similar problem, every time i want to put first goes in reverse and is very dificult to find the right spot to put first and when you want to put second is the same goes to reverse position! can i stil use the same procedures? my knob have a bit of play!! i hope you can help me
Cristiano Fernandes Thanks for the comment. Just to be clear you do not need to remove your Engine or Transmission to make these adjustments. If you have not unbolted the shifter nothing has changed there so you simply bolt the trans back in and you are good. hi jhm, i recently bought a 2003 audi a4 3.0 6 speed and is hard to put the car in gear specially in reverse. im considering on buyimg a short throw , hoping that it helps. would that be the case?
That could be a couple of different factors. For more answers, please email us at Sales@jhmotorsports or call us at 209-968-0077 so we can help you out!

Sounds like something with your shift linkages has failed. hard to say without have the car here for diagnosis though.
That's what I like about 5 speeds. Just straight down from 5th. ;)

Cristiano Fernandes Yes you can make these adjustements without their product. Typically need to be done when Engine or Transmission are removed.

Any luck getting it fixed? I just 'lost' reverse gear when the car is on. When it's off I have no trouble getting it to reverse.
