Hey Plasma Fam, The wands and globes came from auroraplasmadesign.com and it's a cool company. This video involved a lot of research, which, they helped with . I spoke to the owners of two prestigious plasma globe companies, and read at least a dozen university studies on the topic. The EXACT science behind streamer formation and behavior inside of plasma globes is an evolving science, and we don't have all the answers yet. I tried my best to present information that is accurate - most - of the time for Plasma globe situations. In reality, changing pressure inside the globe can drastically change the colors seen, even if you dont change the gas type.
Great video Jay, you certainly did your research for that one. The Northern lights are beautiful, I’ve only seen them once in the U.K. on a cold clear January night; albeit not at the magnitude you’d see in northern Finland. Epic Plasma ball, everyone will want one now. P.S. my iron/nickel Meteorite collection is growing, thanks to you. Keep safe Jay. Rog. 👍😎💯
The King of Random did plasma globe experiments, using helium and argon iirc, inside a vacuum chamber a couple weeks ago. th-cam.com/video/LD8699WUVFo/w-d-xo.html
On our flight back from South Korea I had the opportunity to watch the aurora from the airplane as we flew over Alaska. It was so bright it illuminated the clouds beneath us with a faint green light and it was bright enough to read through the window. I put my blanket up around me and over the window to block out all the cabin light and my wife and I watched the aurora for a good 2 hours.
I lived in Anchorage AK until I was 10-11 years old. I used to love laying on my sled in the snow during the winter and watching the curtains of fire dancing above me. I miss that free, fascinating entertainment.
Turns out that what I explained is only the tip of the iceberg. There’s so much physics at work that even the experts don’t all agree with each other, I found out. Pink? Just need some Argon!

I once saw the northern lights. The color was absolutely amazing, but the most indescribable thing was the size, it's HUGE! I like that you covered not only the gs mixture, but the electric field and the pressure effecting the colors. In gas lasers you can get various colors from gasses depending on these. This is why ion and other gas lasers can come in many wavelengths. An interesting experiment you can do is to view a simple neon lamp through a prism. As the current goes up you'll notice more and more colors start to form closer to the violet end of the spectrum. Understanding the way color comes from gasses is tricky and it wasn't until I got into gas lasers that I understood it I suggest that for reading material as it's incredibly informative.

Nice! Radio Shack used to sell a 10" plasma globe. It had a couple of adjustments for streamer characteristics. I've even made a few plasma pickle jars many years ago. That is one angry plasma ball you have there, congrats on 150K!
Is the aurora borealis only visible during the winter, or can it be seen at any time of the year, and does the answer to this depend on our point in the ecliptic or distance from the sun?
When it comes to whitening the upper atmosphere on the tops of the clouds, probably above the clouds, excites more red in the Lawrence fear, excites more in the blues. I’m not sure of the same thing as true for plasma globe of the act differently, because the globe is in a vacuum chamber, and lightning is more surrounded by air and oxygen, and probably other gases😊

Me: You are not the one in earlier videos
3:30 he really likes that globe!
I freaking love it. I've already picked out a ring.
Really enjoyed this one mate! Informative and interesting!
I've seen colours generated when a magnet kept close to a cathode TV (Old big boxes)
so how would a plasma globe would act upon a stronger magnetic field ?
And aurora being more towards the poles where earths magnetic fields are more concentrated !
1:31 So that is why despite the high current, lightning is still bright violet! I've always wondered that...
2:26 Hmmm all of them within the ionosphere...
3:20 Finally I know what's in my plasma globe!
3:29 Oh my haha.
5:28 Oh were you using a variac for this effect?
That is one angry plasma ball you have there, congrats on 150K!
Hey Prince, no the globe has a dimmer knob on it! Thanks for watching!
@@PlasmaChannel Oh so that's what that was! Man that company makes some nice globes!
i love your channel note i´m brazilian
Glad you're here
Is the aurora borealis only visible during the winter, or can it be seen at any time of the year, and does the answer to this depend on our point in the ecliptic or distance from the sun?
At What packages u work for ?
Classy chad! Thanks for the christmas knowledge :)
how do you make one? is it a van de graff or tesla coil in the middle? regular air in the sphere would still produce differing colors?
When it comes to whitening the upper atmosphere on the tops of the clouds, probably above the clouds, excites more red in the Lawrence fear, excites more in the blues. I’m not sure of the same thing as true for plasma globe of the act differently, because the globe is in a vacuum chamber, and lightning is more surrounded by air and oxygen, and probably other gases😊
Great video. I love that big globe too. I used to have a 8 inch one but it shorted out inside after less than a year and was not on much at all.
This channel is so good like I wish I could this good videos. Thanks a lot for all these amazing videos and keep going jay !! 👍
Thanks so much for this awesome video!! I have only seen the aurora one time in Alaska but it is so amazing! Very cool to show us how the plasma globe compares.
