I'm planning on getting a Vizsla and was thinking of getting a cat as company and a friend for the dog. Do you think it would be better to get the dog first then introduce the cat or vice versa?
Really depends on the temperament of the cat. Many will be friendly with the family dog, but some cats, like the one in the video, are just not going to be friendly to any dog. I'd say, get the dog 1st, get the cat on condition you can return it if they do not get along. We had a vizsla pup that grew up to 6 mos with her sister, then we gave the sister to another family. Our dog was lonely. Mom saw so e kittens for free at the vet, took one on condition. Took him home and set him on the coach arm. Vizsla came and took a look , kitten sat there and swatted her on the nose. Ever after they were buddies, went on walks together, played together every day. Damn, I miss them.

It would be best to get them both as babies, so they can bond together.
