This was I believe a brilliant demonstration to this wonderful Allen& Heath CQ .... I am certainly a novice when it comes to mixers but this seems to be the one to go for as I'm terrified of sooo many sliders where as this has a the CQ-18 has a full touch screen and can also be used as a replacement to my Audio Interface I believe. Mr TR Hughes, thank you kindy for your demo and clarity. I have just subscribed to your channel as it's brilliant. I wish you have one for beginners for the CQ-18 at a slower pace I suppose :) Thank you kindly once again. From Melbourne, Australia
Mine will finally arrive on Monday and I’m so excited. As a solo artist it’s going to be such a great help 👍🏽
The quick channel acoustic preset on the guitar was spot on, wouldnt really do much more of processing after that
Thanks for a refreshingly concise and clear review! Just gone over to bose S1Pro speaker, then Bose T-series mixer, then came across the CQ via google and wow! Looks like it THIS decade's way to go...
Bose T1 is good but this appears to raise the bar many levels. And that iPad connection looks like a life changer, go out into the audience and adjust the mix. Boom!
Great video! Looks like a super powerful and intuitive mixer.
It is!
Thanks for sharing this. I have been very interested.
Great video Brodie! Very well articulated. 👍🏾💪🏾
Appreciate it!
Great job, Tyler! Very knowledgeable 👆
I CAN HEAR THE EXCITEMENT IN YOUR VOICE ON THIS MIXER. GOOD STUFF.
Thanks for the info. I got the same mixer for my home studio.
Tell Matt!!! Great job!!!
Great vid! Thanks!
ohhhh now I have to go buy this thing after watching your video :)
When you set the microphone gain when you turn the fader up do you get feed back in the speakers
Just started using the CQ-18T out live. Still on the learning curve a bit but it sounds great. My duo partner is now looking to buy one for his other gigs. Lovin' it.
Great to hear!
Hi Tyler I got a question on a analog mixer usually you can solo a channel and mute all other channels, Is there a way to do it on this mixer if you find a way please let me know all there is a headphone icon and you have to be wearing a headphone to use it as a solo fixture
thanks again
How can I use the 2.5hz vs 5g connectivity? I think the 2.5 is making my wireless mics in the same rack cut out
This is great! Did you need to do anything on the app to get sound from your monitor? I followed your set up and still cant get audio out of my Fishman SA330
Give me a few more details of the problem you are having and I will try to help.
Hello
Can you record your acoustic guitar on the sd card , then you play back that guitar track and record your vocal, still using only the sd card, so no DAW
Thanks
If you are using the onboard digital effects for EQ and compression etc, then you want to record that into a pc or ipad DAW, post-processing, does it add alot of latency per filter/effect?
Zero latency. All of the processing is done by the mixer.
Thank you very much, great video, if you can do another one recording or using this mixer as audio interface please, excellent job
Anything specific in that process that you would like me to cover?
Tyler, Thank you so much for this lovely video. Looking forward to see you using this at a gig
You bet!
How do you like the mixtape for live gigs?? Is it better than presonus 16.0.2 ??? Thanks
Have no tried but will soon!
Hey how you doing,
So I am in need of a new mixer ASAP. I am interested in Allen&Heath QU16 and CQ18T I play in a 3 piece band ( 2 acoustic guitars, bass and 2 mics) occasionally drums. Any recommendations on what should invest in, in 2024!? Thanks for your time time!
Get the Cq!
Are all FX idiot friendly with those arbitrary buttons, or there are full featured FX to choose from? Also, are those 4 FX fixed, or you can set for example 3 reverbs and one delay, or any other combination?
Thanks.
After using the console more I would have to say that the FX section is the weakest link. The effects are barely usable and there is no way to eq them. Very unsatisfied with it and wish they would update immediately
@@tylerrayhughes I own both, Behringer XR and Soundcraft Ui, although Soundcraft has fewer options for editing it is still a professional tool, but the Behringer is incredible as it can be tweaked to death with sidechain, sending signals from every possible point in the chain, and it has exactly the same software on the cheapest XR12 as on the X32, no limits.
What costs double the price with this CQ, really difficult to understand. The effects are really a joke, made to be simple for a hairdresser. And the artificial limitations for smaller one is really an insult to common sense.

Question i have the mixer that you have after a while the a solid green light comes on instead of the blue blinking liggt an do you have a have a sd card to save your settings
There is a built in memory for saving scenes. The SD card slot is for recording/virtual soundcheck.
@tylerrayhughes what about the light on the front of the mixer I know the steady blue light the after awhile it gets solid green is that normal an loses connection
@@jahvin4951 I have not experienced this yet. I’ll keep a look out
@tylerrayhughes okay it happens when it's been on for awhile
How many iPads can connect at the same time to control its monitor channel
Haven’t maxed it out, but I’ve so far had 1 iPad on the main control, and 3 phones on monitor mixes. I would imagine you could connect as many devices as there are outputs. So maybe 6 phones 2 iPads?
I love to see 32ch version
I would also! I don’t think that’ll be part of the line up however. This console is missing some things that larger channel boards have such as DCA. 32 channels without DCA could be a bear.
Hi, is the software also available for a Macbook or do you need an iPad.
You can download CQ mixpad on your Mac, yes.
Thanks @@tylerrayhughes
Do the 5.0 band have a good range
Very good! And quick signal from far away!
What band do you use when you are out gigging 2.4 or5.0
typically 5.0 because some wireless guitars and in ears go off the 2.4 band.
@@tylerrayhughes is the range pretty good
I just got one and having issues with Bluetooth
What kind of issues
Do after while your status light on the mixer goes off
so far i have not noticed mine going off.
@tylerrayhughes because mines goes off an stays off just wondering do you have a solid green light
@@jahvin4951 mine comes on and stays on
if you play on live stages, you owe it to yourself to ditch the SM58 for an Audix OM-7
You will never want to use anything else.
There's a lil bit of a learning curve because the pattern is super tight on it but theres absolutely nothing better for natural feedback suppression, and they sound great too.
If you try one pop in and drop a comment on what you think.
Ive been using mine for many years after going through many other mics and fighting stage feedback.
Rock on! I’ll check out that mic. I pretty much never sing into a 58 live? I just had it chillen in the bedroom
@@tylerrayhughes you will love it, but you really have to eat the mic, and trail off notes requires just moving your mouth like half an inch. One other thing is your mixer has to be able to supply high gain (most do).
How much is the mixer
Thousand bucks
I see 2 important defects:
1 - is missing a Hardware Master Out Volume control. If something happens in lIve you need direct control on master out to quit the volume/noise/problem
2 - small LCD (7 inches) with small buttons and not really fast in-touch reaction. People are now used to havw a fast touch reaction like smartphones
Do you own this? Is the touchscreen really not good or are you just guessing?
@@SoulfulJim1 I tried it
