Admitting guilt when you are wrong is the natural first step to improving your character. However doing so is better kept to yourself and people very close to you. Public apologies usually just seem arrogant at best, even when they are not. For public figures it is generally best to ignore topics that might damage your reputation.

exactly, whenever I hear a "representative of the committee for blahblahblah" with their "public apology for the outrage cause by blah blah blah" I am filled with disgust no matter what their reason for apologizing is.
It seems public officials think that issuing a gutless apology is like a smack on the ego they have to take in order for the public to accept their behavior.
It would make more sense to not apologise and just make better decisions, but that would be crazy right..

Asmon is wrong quite often. But that will happen to anybody who has strong opinions on topics they know little about. There's nothing wrong with having atrong conviction about what you believe is right/true. In fact, strong opinions are the only opinions worth having. The real issue is that he is often wrong and will do no REAL study. That's because he doesn't have to. He only has to convince the chat by choosing the lowest denominator and singling an obviously dumb chatter to disprove in front of everyone. This relieves him of having to answer actual counters.
I think anyone who has studied formal logic and argumentation can see through it, but it's not worth caring about some goblin from Texas and his wrong stance on something.

I feel like he was more so talking about people following a general narrative of something, and not really understanding why they believe what they believe. It's better to be somewhat informed and wrong rather than not informed and unsure of why you beilive it. for some people it may be the first step towards independent thought imo.

I didn’t see Asmons video, but this is absolutely the correct take on this matter. And while it may not win you mass appeal in some cases, it will ingratiate you amongst higher minded people who aren’t sociopaths.

I think Asmon was mostly referring to people that wouldnt be in your immediate proximity. Dont forget hes used to dealing with chat which is probably the best way to act in front of the hiyenas

Every influencer is just a character at the end of the day and the best thing to do is to not break character and continue making more episodes for the viewers to gobble up
Some of the best shows have a bad season or a couple bad episodes , but new seasons are made and as long as it keeps going the fans keep watching generally
I think you’re intellectualizing a closed environment that was the context of being canceled. Your thinking of conversation between humans and the concept of not admitting wrong is between viewers and a creator who is viewed as a character
It’s like family guy who gets away with tons of stuff and randomly peter apologizes for something which breaks character and begins a character arch which is isn’t advantageous towards the show

i feel like asmon became what he hated the most. gate keeping and judging things without being in any way involved deeply enough to know the full situation, this is mostly shown whenever he critics SOD classic just by reading reddit comments

I would agree with you on the judging things without enough context, like just recently with the whole google "delisting" that anti-dei website just being an anti ddos bug however I don't think he really tries to gatekeep anything super hardcore. of course it might come off that way if you have a strong opinion on something but he actually seems pretty open minded for most things compared to some other streamers.

@@morganbills2749 he is extremely open minded in many topics but at the same time also wants other topics (specially when wow related) to be the way he likes like "quality of life? why?" he keeps saying how he is a veteran and how he knows everything (in a way he does) but he hasnt been involved with current wow that much to have such grand statements he makes about ERA, SOD or retail
