Thanks for the answer. I am already looking for a new board aswel but since I don't have the money for getting one and getting new wheels at this point, I am looking for wheels that will be a bit easier to begin sliding and after a while get the board to go with it =]
I peered through motions video's and something I think would be handy, is a truck clinic video. I hear a lot of misinformed preconceptions about tkp vs rkp and the different purposes of different trucks. Just a thought though.
I can attest to those sector 9 78a top shelf formulas. I prefer them over my 78a flashbacks, butterballs, and these frf, they have a fun factor I can't explain and they have the plus of being dirt cheap. Only wheels i would buy twice so far.
Hello, I have started longboarding about 5 months ago on a loaded dervish with abec 11 gumballs 78a and have now started to develop a taste for sliding, freeride and just learning some tricks. I was wondering if you could sugest me a good beginner sliding / freeride set of wheels to use when not using the gumballs I already have. In case it makes a difference, roads where I live don't have perfect pavement Cheers and thanks for the videos =D
Same clinic but wheels 70mm+ please.. Need to know where my 87a fireball incendos and my 82a race forms fit in the butter-icy scale. And if there might be a better wheel for me
What is a good wheel to practice and learn slides on? I feel like my current wheels are just too good and not for someone learning. I currently ride Adam Yates Dawg Hawgs 70mm 80a
Hey, I'm getting the Santa cruz trip dot tie die for Xmas and wanted to learn stand up slides, what would be the best wheel for me ( I've never did any slides before) and I'm 14 and quite stalky
I really want to try the otang 80a fat frees but i'm really unsure of the slide. I have had a balut but hated it because it was chattery. Please help. I'm looking for a wheel that will last a medium amount of time, slides great, not that loud, and be easier to slide. Anything helps! Thanks MOBO!!!!
Hey dude I got the Rad glides at the beginning of the summer and they last a while they are awesome they slide so nice I have the blue ones and they only ice out about once every time you go out. Really buttery slide. Get them. P.S they don't thane though.
Leaning towards the checkers but I'm really interested in these wheels and have some questions about them. About how fast do you need to be going to break into a comfortable slide? Are they chattery at all (since I see they're all the way on the glide end)
chris mecca that video is a bit outdated now. I ended up buying the these 327 69mm 80a and I love everything about them except that they are hard as hell to kick out. Going to try to fix that wIth some new bushings and maybe trucks.
Some amazing riders out there only use otang wheels and it doesn't hinder them one bit. Just because you can't go fast and slide big on them doesn't mean they're bad wheels.
Yes really easy it was the wheel I learned to slide on, cored them last night and after a month I went from learning to do a 180 to doing 25ft slides they are amazing
Dont lie Nate. Butterballs are not consistent. The closer to the core u get the more inconsistent they are. They are fun if your not looking for high quality but a lot of thane.
Chalky is somewhere in between. Its not as 'in the pavement' as a buttery wheel so doesn't kill as much speed and doesn't leave as much thane but isn't quite as slippery as an icy wheel so you still get a predictable, controlled slide but it won't wear as quick as a buttery wheel.
in my experience reorganization from left to right: these, fatfree 86a, fatfree 83a, fatfree80a, metro?, rayne, noschoolz, butterballs, checkers, topshelf/nineballs, city slasher 78a, polka, city slasher 86a, bertz they all die in about a week with the exception of these.
baluts chatter like a mofo because of how sharp the lips were but thay fixed that up with the morangas. fat frees have a more rounded lip and don't chatter as much. the only thing about otangs is that they slide better in the heat and they can be really grippy in the cold especially the 80a. in my opinion 80a are the best. i've had all three their a great summer wheel.
you should do a remake of this video! its awesome!
jasst
please brother...
im from brasil and starting in longboarding... can you explain to me the deffinition of Buttery and Glidy ?
thanks. i will be happy.
get a knife.. spread some butter using the knife.. #buttery
put on some socks and slide on a hard wood floor..#glidy

Stay in 2015, 2020 sucks
Thanks for the answer.
I am already looking for a new board aswel but since I don't have the money for getting one and getting new wheels at this point, I am looking for wheels that will be a bit easier to begin sliding and after a while get the board to go with it =]
I always love a wheel that sounds like a walrus purring
Do an updated 2015 version!
Yes! Please!!!
Stay in 2015
Walruses purring... That's a surprisingly accurate description. Thank you for that.
I peered through motions video's and something I think would be handy, is a truck clinic video. I hear a lot of misinformed preconceptions about tkp vs rkp and the different purposes of different trucks. Just a thought though.
Any chance you could do an updated version of this? Not sure how many of these wheels are still around in 2021
I can attest to those sector 9 78a top shelf formulas. I prefer them over my 78a flashbacks, butterballs, and these frf, they have a fun factor I can't explain and they have the plus of being dirt cheap. Only wheels i would buy twice so far.
What is the best wheel for someone that has a heavy board and is just beginning to slide
I'm getting 86a city slashers on the kanthaka hopefully they will be nice
what would be the best wheel for really long slides on really bad grippy smooth pavement
I'm loving all these reviews!

you guys should do a video riding the topshelfs
Same clinic but wheels 70mm+ please.. Need to know where my 87a fireball incendos and my 82a race forms fit in the butter-icy scale. And if there might be a better wheel for me
I'm surprised there are no Grippins on here... Once broken in, they have a great icy slide
hey! guys love your reviews and i was just wondering if you could do a bushing clinic if you haven't already
What is a good wheel to practice and learn slides on? I feel like my current wheels are just too good and not for someone learning. I currently ride Adam Yates Dawg Hawgs 70mm 80a
What's your best recommendation for a wheel for low to medium speed freeride? Thinking checkers, cult classics, metro motions. Opinions? Thanks
you just described my first purchase of longboards... those were not the days...
I learned about it at some point in the past, but could someone explain the benefits of a smaller wheel for freeriding?
the abec 11 wheels or either of the city slashers will be really nice wheels for your weight
Could you do a review on the bombers Powell and parelllta 85a wheel
Hey, I'm getting the Santa cruz trip dot tie die for Xmas and wanted to learn stand up slides, what would be the best wheel for me ( I've never did any slides before) and I'm 14 and quite stalky

Forgive me if I missed it but please make the same thing but for larger wheels! If you sheet did can I get the link?
You guys should do a review on the one off big boy

I didn't see the Fresh Wheel Cream Kings on here...cmon Motion you know they're awesome.
where would you guys place the 65mm MIDS ?
for really eassssy slides, what would be the best?
I have the noskools, but they're 65a, so they're almost impossable!
Shit, I mean 75a, but I have learned to slide them, so yeah.
Does the These wheels in 69.5 mm are like traslucid urethane??
Can you guys do a video on pucks?
MotionBoardshop Im riding orangetang stimilus yellow now. but are the pink poikadots more buttery?

Hello, I'm from Spain. I want to buy freeride wheels to my Landyachz Loco 37. What wheels you recommend me?
"its a hoot." FORESHADOWING FOR REMEMBER?!?!

What's your opinion on Rad Glides 70mm 80a?
Hey dude I got the Rad glides at the beginning of the summer and they last a while they are awesome they slide so nice I have the blue ones and they only ice out about once every time you go out. Really buttery slide. Get them. P.S they don't thane though.
How long do these last
Do the envies last longer than a week
Leaning towards the checkers but I'm really interested in these wheels and have some questions about them. About how fast do you need to be going to break into a comfortable slide? Are they chattery at all (since I see they're all the way on the glide end)
motion boardshop has a video about "these" wheels
chris mecca that video is a bit outdated now. I ended up buying the these 327 69mm 80a and I love everything about them except that they are hard as hell to kick out. Going to try to fix that wIth some new bushings and maybe trucks.
Dominique Dorsinville after i wore my these wheels down a bit they kicked out easily
and where would the MIDS be?
Some amazing riders out there only use otang wheels and it doesn't hinder them one bit. Just because you can't go fast and slide big on them doesn't mean they're bad wheels.
What is the difference between buttery and glidey???
Getting my review skills up.
Are the retro bertz easy to break in?
Yes really easy it was the wheel I learned to slide on, cored them last night and after a month I went from learning to do a 180 to doing 25ft slides they are amazing
single kick clinic? or brick clinic?
Dont lie Nate. Butterballs are not consistent. The closer to the core u get the more inconsistent they are. They are fun if your not looking for high quality but a lot of thane.
Cult ism? and can you slide a 78a noskool
How are These Wheels 69.5 small?
Guys... I want a really good freeride wheel that dumps thane should i get butterballs, retrobertz,or pink polka dotz
Dude, thats even better.
I realize but the streethawgs are from a very big company and are a very good wheel
Cult ism is one that should be in this list.
OOOOO I KNOW! 66m abec 11 freerides 81a! you will love them. im sure of it
What about street hawgs?
What is the difference between buttery and icy?... Learning...
Buttery is a smooth slide, while icy is a slick, unpredictable slide
What about chalky?
Chalky is somewhere in between. Its not as 'in the pavement' as a buttery wheel so doesn't kill as much speed and doesn't leave as much thane but isn't quite as slippery as an icy wheel so you still get a predictable, controlled slide but it won't wear as quick as a buttery wheel.
i have cored most of these wheels retro bertz pinkies noskoolz and rayne envys
Is 96 a to hard for freeride
uses the same thane as the Bertz but larger and is sideset
Do a freeride wheel clinic vid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Try metro motions 80a or 82a, or abec 11 freerides 81a
"Sounds like a Walrus purring" Lol
u gotta do this for wheels over 70 mm
in my experience
reorganization from left to right: these, fatfree 86a, fatfree 83a, fatfree80a, metro?, rayne, noschoolz, butterballs, checkers, topshelf/nineballs, city slasher 78a, polka, city slasher 86a, bertz
they all die in about a week with the exception of these.
no they are different feels that a wheel can have when sliding.. you can have buttery, sugary, or chalky thane.
review the landyachtz top speed
depends on your preference. learn on what you got then worry about proper wheels when you learn to slide. thats what i did.
he is no joking when he was talking about pink poka dots there sooooo good i had some
Cult Isms?
any sector 9!
3:50 Soo good!
do this video but for 70mm wheels
what about the streethawgs
that board is awesome in every way. Just get it Haha it's worth it
Ok I will thanks!!
what wheels are the most buttery i don't care about ware
Owen Stephenson Did you watch the video...?
yeah
Watch it again
Lets see if Nate can do this with all 70mm wheels in one take.
baluts chatter like a mofo because of how sharp the lips were but thay fixed that up with the morangas. fat frees have a more rounded lip and don't chatter as much. the only thing about otangs is that they slide better in the heat and they can be really grippy in the cold especially the 80a. in my opinion 80a are the best. i've had all three their a great summer wheel.
EXCELLENT!!!
81a polka dots. best wheel ever
Honestly, you might wanna look at a board more suited for freeride than a dervish before getting new wheels.
the noskools look like they were made for freeride
"Yeah, it's awesome!"
"it makes the sound of walrus's purring, so you know its good"
the last 5 >>>
