    This is really nice, I’m tired of all the videos that looked like Hobby Lobby, Kirklands or Michaels took over the house. You won’t get sick of this subtle decor.

    Dear Andrea... I love all your sweet ideas. I have a few TH-camrs that I love... but sometimes I feel like they are just long commercials for the various stores.... their decor turns out beautifully but most people can not afford to go out and buy all that stuff... then they become discontent when they start to decorate their own homes. We all need to learn to be content with with we already have and use it to the fullest. Thank you for your approach. By the way... you might have the most most beautiful eyes I have ever seen.... I think their clear brightness come from the goodness within you!

    Last year I went to dollar tree and bought a couple rolls of their brown mailing paper (it's with their mailing area) and I wrapped all my presents in that. Not only do you get more per roll than Christmas paper, but it does not tear as bad. As my grandchildren unwrapped the presents I gathered the paper back up and gave some of it to them later to color on and some was kept to later turn into paper mache and I made a "Kirby" valentines box for my grandson.

      I took that brown paper and covered my art studio floor with it…applying it with rolled on glue, random tears on the pieces then applying a rolled on poly….it makes the yucky plywood look so much better now…..

    The dollar store brown paper is thinner and easier to wrap with. My grandmother used to wrap our gifts in brown paper grocery bags. I have always done the same for my kids.

    Wonderful video 👏🏼🌲I was just at Target 🎯 yesterday drooling over the Christmas decor items. I stared for a long time debating about the bottle brush trees. Caught between my inner snow ❄️ Fairie having visions of tucking them around the house. And my rational mind saying you don’t need these. Ok .. now you’ve convinced me. My inner snow ❄️ Fairie wins ! Thank you!

  • @racheljeffers2486
    @racheljeffers2486 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I use fairy lights for everything. One of my favorite places to put them is in my china hutch! One on each shelf. It really draws the eye to everything in the hutch! I love putting them in mason jars, cloches, anything glass. (In the summertime) they make wonderful "make-believe" fireflies for the kids' bedrooms at night. Sometimes I tuck them into ceramic warmers or candle holders instead of using tealights or real flame. They light up the whole warmer. I had some "spooky" Halloween warmers (haunted house, etc.) and instead of using a tealight, used the fairy lights and the effect was safe (for kids) and perfect!

    Thank you for sharing such lovely ideas. I have repurposed our ornaments and Christmas-themed items over the course of 47 years...and this year, for our 48th winter season, I am going to focus on whites, soft greens, and touches of red. Our walls are SW Silver Plate and our trim/doors are a soft white. With our antique pieces and dark wood floors, we've use splashes of wonderful color in rugs and accent pillows in our daily decor. I want the white to soften everything. Lots of white lights and minimal froo-froo!!! Our flocked tree was old enough not to be used indoors; we placed it on the covered patio outside our living room windows and the glow is ethereal. We rarely take it down before the end of February because the ambiance is just perfect and SE Texas can be a bit dreary through the winter months. Blessings!!

    Andrea, I love your budget friendly decor ideas. I mean ,how simple can ribbon
    be? I love the wrapped packages as well. I started my minimizing journey last year and after the year we have had... I almost regretted it because I donated more than 6 bins of holiday items that I just didnt need, use or really want. But, your ideas in this video are perfect. I have some of those things and can add that little oomph to my very minimal holiday decor. The presents wrapped and a few of the bottle brush trees will be a nice touch in my cozy cottage. You always have such a lovely home all year around, but I especially love the holidays. Thanks for sharing these helpful hints. Take care and I look forward to your home tour.
    ❤️Leslie

    • @jeanwhite2705
      @jeanwhite2705 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can identify with Leslie as I too started said journey early in 2021. We had family staying long term with us and just didn’t have the room for so many older Christmas decor items so seriously weeded them out to just what had meaning. When this years boxes came out I realized how much I had downsized. But having walked thru these past few years I don’t regret it. We have changed and don’t want to surround ourselves with past things. I’m carefully choosing a few new items and relishing the new cleaner brighter look in my home. I love the beautiful simple homemade items featured in this video and am already using some of them. Have a lovely holiday season everyone, centred on family and relationships and not gaudy decor.

    Hi Andrea! I really think this video is special! I wish you would show us your garland and greenery throughout your home. I'd love to hear and see up close how you put the garland together, hung it or styled it, etc. I have not really begun decorating yet, hopefully some tomorrow and the majority over Thanksgiving weekend. Like you, I want to take my time and enjoy it. I work a lot of hours and it seems like it becomes a mad rush from now til Christmas. I'm trying not to do too much Christmas decor in the main living areas as we are having Thanksgiving dinner with our daughter and her boyfriend. I want everyone to enjoy the Thanksgiving decor LOL

    • @Melody-285

    I love thrifting for old Christmas ornaments..I’ve found many old Hallmark ones from 1982 ….also I collect old cans from cooking oil, cookies and I even found a real old can that dates way back in the 1800’s…..
    If you want to keep your greenery fresh longer use Wilt Stop….I watch Tonkadale Greenhouses vlog about arranging Christmas decor.
    Elysha English did penguins out of pine cones that are so cute…..I think it would be awesome if you made some pine cone wreaths, I’m sure you know how….
    That is what my eight yr old grd daughter is coming over to help me do this weekend…..I set up my greenhouse so as to keep the mess in there with pine cones and pine limbs…..each year I make up some sort of a wreath or arrangement to give my five children as a pre Christmas gift to enjoy before the Dec 25 holiday.
    I’ve taken nice tree branches and sprayed them white and hung mini outdoor white lights on them and secure them into soil which when freezes holds the limbs very well….then I placed them around our back sitting area…..if you take a large round tire rim and put wood in it with lights around it inside also makes a nice cozy look to that sitting area……it would be nice with all yellow and orange lights if you could find them.

    Popcorn makes your house smell stale if you live in a humid climate. I love your ideas. Double sided tape makes beautiful packages because it isn't visible.

    Love your holiday home, simplified and charming. Looking for a pair of skates to add ribbon and jingle bells for the front door.! Greenery is so inexpensive or free just adds to our winter wonderland ambience. Thank you for your wonderful tips. Merry Christmas to all.🎄

    Andrea, you mentioned orange slice garland. This year I did, what my aunt was making every year. She took fresh orange and stick very tightly cloves. It’s smell like potpourri and you can put on the shelve or even better, hang it.

    It's so funny you would say that. My theme for Christmas this year is "Brown Paper Packages Tied Up With Strings".... I don't own a Cricut yet, (my daughter and I want to get one together for our businesses), but I had a friend make a decal of both the verses to make my own signs. Lol! Also some decals for Easter too.
    I also have bottle brushes (from Walmart) , little trees(Hobby Lobby, thrifted, aldi, everywhere) and fairy lights SAMS CLUB, a pk of 4 with batteries included last year)all around my house.I have a silver trophy vase too that I'm adding red magnolias to that look like amarillas
    I'm so excited, my house is a wreck right now but I'm excited!

    You do such a beautiful job, honestly! It is more than a look, it invokes a feeling. Im wondering if you could possibly show how you tie the ribbons, is there a certain way you do it? My skill level is painfully low but I would love to try the ribbon and the hymnal garland. Thank you for the beautiful ideas and your wisdom. You are honestly a blessing.
