I always built up the defense of the settlements and made sure they were well walled in so that enemies only had one real route to attack from, and loaded it up with enough turrets and such that the security rating of the settlement outweighed everything else. I think I got a request for help exactly once, before I had gotten enough materials to do so with your old home settlement.

I remember the first time I played through rdr2, especially towards the end of the game at the final camp, encountering Micah made my heart race. Arthur may not have been intimidated, but I might have been. Truly, Micah Bell is one of the best villains in gaming history. Unpredictable yet so unlikable, genius writing.

I never really understood Fallout 4's settlement defense missions. You're the general of the Minutemen. You should be able to recruit people and send squads of them to settlements in order to defend them.
If you build the settlements properly and arm the occupants they usually don't get attacked or can defend themselves when they do. There are just a LOT of the settlements so you have to go in and build adequate defenses for all of them to avoid this.

Many people hated Donald Duck from the Kingdom Hearts series because he would have the healing spell and yet refused to use it no matter what situation you were in.
When i first played the original disc he seemed to heal sometimes, not always when he should, but sometimes (also depends on how you set his battle style), but on the disc with all the games except 3 he was like 'pffft your on your bich' frickin nothing no heals.
This, this right here. Or how about FF13? They'll heal every character BUT you yet the game will only game over if YOU die 😠. Main Vanille for the win.
I didn't know of this until I started seeing comments on a few KH related videos. I always healed myself in Kingdom Hearts. I remember dying a few times in Final Fantasy XIII waiting for someone like Vanille to heal me. Similarly, in FFXV, there is an item that was meant to make the character Ignis automatically use a potion on you when low on health if you had them in stock, which I had plenty. The feature...was broken upon launch and honestly, I think it only ever worked for me once. Features that allow you to take the backseat with healing have been things I now avoid in games. I'm super paranoid it won't kick in the exact second I want it to and so I prefer to always handle both, offense and defense (and prefer to set up all characters this way, like in playing FF7R right now. It's dangerous to put so much responsibility on one character to handle something like that for all other characters, be it attacking or healing. Added buffs/debuffs are my only exception to this).
There was one time the stars aligned in halo reach, my ai driver was actually FUNCTIONAL! They gave me decent vantage points and even avoided wraith fire it was actually intense. I came away from the skirmish with newfound respect for the computer allies- gave them another chance in the next vehicle section and plummeted us straight off a cliff at their first opportunity (like normal) .
Micah was one of those characters that I loved to hate. He was one of the best antagonists made to be a complete a-hole. RDR2 wouldn't be the same without him.

She's hardly in the game, save for a couple segments here and there. 90% of the times you do have her in your party, she can be sent into a garbage bin and you'll almost never have to worry about her. It's easily the best Resident Evil ever made, I'd highly recommend reconsidering. It's survival horror at it's finest.
I'm going to voice the unpopular opinion that Ashley is one of the best escort characters ever. She stays close behind you, ducks automatically when your gun swings in her direction and can easily be hidden in most major combat sequences. Yall are sleeping on literally a hundred worse ai companions when you put her on these lists because it's easy and because of her mildly annoying voice.
I have found two ways to avoid the preston garvey contacts, one you can grab the power armour before speaking to him, get on the church and jump over its not easy, and there is some dialogue if you talk to sturges if you do it that way, but so long as you never do 10 pines bluff you never get any calls. so avoid that area
I picked up RE5 right now and I was warned how bad she was. I despise her already. Ashley was not that bad. Ashley doesn't waste your health items so you're stuck with a red herb at low health, then just watch as you're dying and yelling for help. Ashley can't shoot but she also can't burn through your ammo. She stays behind you and you can just keep her in a safe spot if things get really hairy. She doesn't seem to get hurt very often (unless she gets caught up in attacks that were meant for me), so I don't have to waste health items on her often. And most importantly, I don't have to depend on Ashley to do much for me. The game knows she's useless. But RE5 doesn't seem to understand that about Sheva.
My least favorites will always be Donald and goofy in kingdom hearts. They never do what you want them to and goofy is always pushing enemies out of reach, especially in the times coliseum.

@@MindokInAh i've gotten with Anders as both, and had characters that were renegades, sarcastic, and just plain nice, and never really noticed much difference, though it was years ago i last played it, and i don't think i went full force renegade, so maybe it has something to do with that
As infamous as Ashley in RE4 was, I actually never had a problem with her. At least nothing major. Any serious part with a lot of action you can typically hide her in a bin or something, and she stays behind you and ducks when you aim in her direction. I only game overed a few times over her, but found the experience just fine. As for settlements in Fallout 4, that is SERIOUSLY annoying and tedious. I have all the settlements except one controlled and built up, so 37 total. (I am missing bunker hill, the only settlement I don't have because I haven't finished the main story yet). Most of them have 20+ settlers, and I always make sure they have at least 65+ defense. But regardless of how high the defense is, each settlement has a 2% chance of being attacked each day. Defense helps reduce the chance of a settlement being lost, which actually can happen and you have to go recapture it and rebuild. Because I have 37 settlements, every 24 hour in game day EACH ONE has a 2% chance of being attacked. Stacked. So there is almost an attack every day somewhere. And for some reason The Slog, Country Crossing, Tenpines Bluff and Coastal Cottage seem to get attacked way more than any other settlement. Only one settlement can be attacked at one time, but sometimes I have 3 or 4 settlements attacked back to back almost immediately after defending one. It basically stops you from playing the game, especially if a settlement in Nuka World or Far Harbor is attacked. I often ignore the attack if the settlement is far, but the settlement takes damaged and food and water production falls below the population, then the settlements happiness tanks FAST. Actually, the larger the settlement and more food and water production, the greater the chance of it being attacked. But I think it maxes out at 2% per day. but for EACH settlement. I like the settlement system and build up each one to the max, but constantly having to babysit and rebuild them is seriously tedious and annoying.

Yeah, I didn't think that Lydia was that annoying either... she was mostly useless though, which meant I'd just use her as a packmule when I found myself carrying too much gear. Otherwise, I didn't really bother with companions in Skyrim.
Farrah from Prince of Persia. I sure do love fighting sand monsters while constantly worried about getting shot in the back. I also absolutely love having to tote her around because she's the only one who can fit into crawl spaces and takes her sweet ass time to open a door or flip a switch. Fan freaking tastic!

I'm surprised that EVA from MGS3 isn't on that list. During the end of the game where you have to get through the jungle with her, she's annoying af. It's way easier to just knock her out and literally drag her with you instead of constantly giving her food, medicine and protecting her from guards.

I have two from Far Cry games: 1) The hired guns in 4 and 5 who do nothing to help you. All they do is start yelling and shooting (hitting no one) which merely blows any chance you had for a stealth attack. 2) After you save Riley in 3 he flies the helicopter but won't leave the enemy's firing radius for the longest time. I get it that the scene is one last chance for you to blow the hell out of the last enemies but it is so annoying how he just doesn't fly away to safety.

If I want a story Ill play an RPG. If I'm playing a shooter I want nonstop action from players or AI nearly as smart as players. The only AI I have encountered that ever impressed me was the Hunters in the Division.

RE4's Ashley wasn't too bad. I think she was the first companion that would keep up with your character that I can remember in video games. And it was only a few scenes where she would get snatched up and taken to that weird wall to hell thing.
The babysitting sidekick AI's are the worst 😂😂😂, but I kinda always half heartedly love them coz they're annoying like little siblings. Where u get mad at them but you'll still protect them. I would have Micah off the list coz as much as we hate him he's an effective sidekick 😂, him Javier and Charles are the only ones who used to come clutch from the Van Der Linde gang. I'm so glad that Resident Evil Revelations 2 finally did the AI partner babysitting job finally right. I'm honestly amazed sometimes at how the ai in that game interacts with the world when you're not there to save them.
Ellie from Last of Us is the first I think of, but here's one: Russell from Bully. He started as a villain but became your toughest ally. He is the tankiest in the game, and he helps through several key missions.
Atreus from God of War 2018 takes no.1 easy. Take your pick between clearing an entire room of dark elves by himself, saving Kratos from a trap or the way he fights along his dad during the last boss.
Honerable Mention: Little Nightmares DLC Nomes Sweet god. They, are annoying. These are these tracks in the ground they get stuck....sometimes they softlock and you're forced to restart. Oh yeah....they are required to beat the level. They are not that bad, but they sure as hell are not the worst AI.
A missing candidate is Sheva in Resident Evil 5; she's useless. When I played the game, all I gave her to carry was ammo but no weapons. That way she couldn't waste it not taking headshots.

I never really understood Fallout 4's settlement defense missions. You're the general of the Minutemen. You should be able to recruit people and send squads of them to settlements in order to defend them.
If you build the settlements properly and arm the occupants they usually don't get attacked or can defend themselves when they do. There are just a LOT of the settlements so you have to go in and build adequate defenses for all of them to avoid this.

Many people hated Donald Duck from the Kingdom Hearts series because he would have the healing spell and yet refused to use it no matter what situation you were in.
i never understood that either. he's use ethers like crazy, but actually healing you, or even Goofy, didn't seem bothered enough to.
When i first played the original disc he seemed to heal sometimes, not always when he should, but sometimes (also depends on how you set his battle style), but on the disc with all the games except 3 he was like 'pffft your on your bich' frickin nothing no heals.

I didn't know of this until I started seeing comments on a few KH related videos. I always healed myself in Kingdom Hearts.
I remember dying a few times in Final Fantasy XIII waiting for someone like Vanille to heal me. Similarly, in FFXV, there is an item that was meant to make the character Ignis automatically use a potion on you when low on health if you had them in stock, which I had plenty. The feature...was broken upon launch and honestly, I think it only ever worked for me once.
Features that allow you to take the backseat with healing have been things I now avoid in games. I'm super paranoid it won't kick in the exact second I want it to and so I prefer to always handle both, offense and defense (and prefer to set up all characters this way, like in playing FF7R right now. It's dangerous to put so much responsibility on one character to handle something like that for all other characters, be it attacking or healing. Added buffs/debuffs are my only exception to this).
There was one time the stars aligned in halo reach, my ai driver was actually FUNCTIONAL! They gave me decent vantage points and even avoided wraith fire it was actually intense. I came away from the skirmish with newfound respect for the computer allies- gave them another chance in the next vehicle section and plummeted us straight off a cliff at their first opportunity (like normal) .

She's hardly in the game, save for a couple segments here and there. 90% of the times you do have her in your party, she can be sent into a garbage bin and you'll almost never have to worry about her. It's easily the best Resident Evil ever made, I'd highly recommend reconsidering. It's survival horror at it's finest.
I'm going to voice the unpopular opinion that Ashley is one of the best escort characters ever. She stays close behind you, ducks automatically when your gun swings in her direction and can easily be hidden in most major combat sequences. Yall are sleeping on literally a hundred worse ai companions when you put her on these lists because it's easy and because of her mildly annoying voice.

I have found two ways to avoid the preston garvey contacts, one you can grab the power armour before speaking to him, get on the church and jump over its not easy, and there is some dialogue if you talk to sturges if you do it that way, but so long as you never do 10 pines bluff you never get any calls. so avoid that area

Well, I fireballed Lydia from skyrim off a mountain . Talking too much and wasn't keeping the house clean.
I picked up RE5 right now and I was warned how bad she was. I despise her already.
Ashley was not that bad. Ashley doesn't waste your health items so you're stuck with a red herb at low health, then just watch as you're dying and yelling for help. Ashley can't shoot but she also can't burn through your ammo. She stays behind you and you can just keep her in a safe spot if things get really hairy. She doesn't seem to get hurt very often (unless she gets caught up in attacks that were meant for me), so I don't have to waste health items on her often.
And most importantly, I don't have to depend on Ashley to do much for me. The game knows she's useless. But RE5 doesn't seem to understand that about Sheva.

My least favorites will always be Donald and goofy in kingdom hearts. They never do what you want them to and goofy is always pushing enemies out of reach, especially in the times coliseum.

@@MindokInAh i've gotten with Anders as both, and had characters that were renegades, sarcastic, and just plain nice, and never really noticed much difference, though it was years ago i last played it, and i don't think i went full force renegade, so maybe it has something to do with that
As infamous as Ashley in RE4 was, I actually never had a problem with her. At least nothing major. Any serious part with a lot of action you can typically hide her in a bin or something, and she stays behind you and ducks when you aim in her direction. I only game overed a few times over her, but found the experience just fine. As for settlements in Fallout 4, that is SERIOUSLY annoying and tedious. I have all the settlements except one controlled and built up, so 37 total. (I am missing bunker hill, the only settlement I don't have because I haven't finished the main story yet). Most of them have 20+ settlers, and I always make sure they have at least 65+ defense. But regardless of how high the defense is, each settlement has a 2% chance of being attacked each day. Defense helps reduce the chance of a settlement being lost, which actually can happen and you have to go recapture it and rebuild. Because I have 37 settlements, every 24 hour in game day EACH ONE has a 2% chance of being attacked. Stacked. So there is almost an attack every day somewhere. And for some reason The Slog, Country Crossing, Tenpines Bluff and Coastal Cottage seem to get attacked way more than any other settlement. Only one settlement can be attacked at one time, but sometimes I have 3 or 4 settlements attacked back to back almost immediately after defending one. It basically stops you from playing the game, especially if a settlement in Nuka World or Far Harbor is attacked. I often ignore the attack if the settlement is far, but the settlement takes damaged and food and water production falls below the population, then the settlements happiness tanks FAST. Actually, the larger the settlement and more food and water production, the greater the chance of it being attacked. But I think it maxes out at 2% per day. but for EACH settlement. I like the settlement system and build up each one to the max, but constantly having to babysit and rebuild them is seriously tedious and annoying.

Yeah, I didn't think that Lydia was that annoying either... she was mostly useless though, which meant I'd just use her as a packmule when I found myself carrying too much gear. Otherwise, I didn't really bother with companions in Skyrim.

I really don’t understand why people hate the handler in MHWorld. I like her.
I have two from Far Cry games:
1) The hired guns in 4 and 5 who do nothing to help you. All they do is start yelling and shooting (hitting no one) which merely blows any chance you had for a stealth attack.
2) After you save Riley in 3 he flies the helicopter but won't leave the enemy's firing radius for the longest time. I get it that the scene is one last chance for you to blow the hell out of the last enemies but it is so annoying how he just doesn't fly away to safety.
I remember the first time that marine Sargent pulls up and say "I could use you on the gun, Chief." I was like, oh cool! I don't have to play chauffeur anymore! But then I got in the gun seat and boy, was that a mistake...
The halo one is so damn spot on. My driver always ran over boulders and flipped everyone out, and the worst part is when the driver doesn’t go back to being the driver. Instead, he gets on my turret and.... it just slows the whole process down.

@M M The story is always bad, the characters are easily forgettable and they are a waste of resources that could have been used to make the online portion of the game better. Adding a story was just one way Battlefield was trying to be a CoD knockoff instead of its own game.

Played BF2 for 5 years, 2142 for 3 years, BF3 for a few months, Bad Company a week, Bad Company 2 a month, BF1 a few days, 4 and 5 only a few hours before falling asleep. If I want a story Ill play an RPG. If I'm playing a shooter I want nonstop action from players or AI nearly as smart as players. The only AI I have encountered that ever impressed me was the Hunters in the Division.

The babysitting sidekick AI's are the worst 😂😂😂, but I kinda always half heartedly love them coz they're annoying like little siblings. Where u get mad at them but you'll still protect them. I would have Micah off the list coz as much as we hate him he's an effective sidekick 😂, him Javier and Charles are the only ones who used to come clutch from the Van Der Linde gang.
