As a very new collector, I ordered the Kenobi Vader. I love the half-split mask where you can see Heyden's face. The actor shaped just too many beautiful moments in my childhood. I also want one version for each of my favorite characters. I'm also hoping for a new Dark Side Anakin release next year because I unfortunately missed the last one.
Agreed! No disrespect to Sebastian Shaw, but I Hayden is who I see as Vader. If I was forced to only pick one, it would be Kenobi Vader for sure.
I hope they’re able to reissue Darkside Anakin for you all. It’s crazy to see he was meant to be an event only exclusive to being up on Sideshow and sitting for a long time. Out of nowhere he became this sensation after selling out.
But, for new collectors coming in, I hope they do it for you all. ❤️

I’ve got the Kenobi Vader on pre order. There’s something so unique and iconic of his helmet cracked with the exposed Anakin head sculpt.
I don’t think you can go wrong with either though.
Got young version and I pre ordered old version of Vader and that should be it for my Vader collection, I hope 😎

He does look incredible. I originally had him preordered, but I let it go due to space. Hopefully I don’t regret it.

Gonna sell my ESB Vader and keep this one as my only Vader (aside from CW Anakin lol)

I would'nt get the deluxe unless I had Palpatine. Makes sense. Happy to see the LED lightsaber wish all the sith and jedi had those..A chamber would be cool! Kinda like The gantry and iron man! Would seriously jack up that already hefty price tag tho! Ended up getting the kenobi series deluxe, you get that cool base, damaged and reg helm with the undamaged chest plate! Its good stuff!
I'd love to see the chamber as a separate release, because not everyone would care to have this Vader, but would like to have any Vader sitting in it. That'd be awesome!
Kenobi Vader's looking like quite the draw. Hot Toys is smart enough to lure me in with those stairs though. I'll have to find another set after the release of the ROTJ version!
I recently received my kenobi vader PO and love it so much, matched for my favourite figure. But soon after I also got a Palpatine on throne to go with my Rotj Luke and rushed to PO this, they’ll both be beautiful figures and I’m lucky enough to be able to have the 2 in my collection:)
Ended up grabbing Kenobi and ROTJ deluxe editions. Vaders aren’t figures I pass up.
Haha, if I had the space I’d be the exact same way. It’s the evolution, so they try to get us with it. 😄

Just started collecting and picked this one over kenobi version to have a "classic" Vader in my collection and the hope of getting a new emperor. I might pick up the kenobi version as well
It's a great choice and I think a great conversation hearing who's picking what. Sebastian Shaw's is definitely the more classic approach, especially since he was our first glimpse under the mask.
I believe Kenobi's Vader is still available on Sideshow, but he's also sold on other sites depending. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Chad! 😄
too similar with ESB one , you need the ESB or the ROTJ vader but having both is useless
Unless there are Vader completionists out there, I'd agree. I don't care to have more than 3 in my collection, but with this Vader coming out I'd rather sell the ESB version for sure. I'd opt for the Rogue One version at that point.
Im getting both kenobi and return of the jedi vader. I dont have any in my collection. I think vader unmasked is cool i want both hayden and shaw headsculpts.
Side by side I bet they'll look incredible! When you get the Kenobi Vader in, you'll love him. Such a spectacular piece! 🔥
Also that new Kenobi Vader is a 1 for 1 reissue of Rogue One. Paint apps aren't accurate to the Kenobi Disney+ show it's just RO rereleased.
I never use the fire, electricity, or lightsaber blade accessories. They diminish the (miniaturized) realism of the figures.
So I have the ESB one, planning to get both this and the kenobi ones. This one will be displayed with the head sculpt and stump hand, then the kenobi one with the broken helmet and broken chest
That sounds like a solid way to display them! I'm looking to pick up Kenobi the Kenobi version to display with the Inquisitors. As for this one, I think he'll end up replacing the ESB version in my display with my Anakin shelves.

This will be my 5th Vader by the time this comes out 😅 I’m loving the helmet display stands! I think I will display him with the Sebastian Shaw sculpt with the helmets on the stand. Maybe… That force lightning effect looks great tho! Like you say I’m not sure why they didn’t do the skull design in the light up feature… that’s the iconic bit when he picks up Palps and the force lightning basically x-rays his helmet isn’t it 💀 Still, the set is looking incredible! I’m loving my 1/4 scale RotJ Vader so will be great to have it 1/6 scale with all these extras! Great video, thanks for walking us through this announcement! 👍🏻😀

Woooow! You must have the Rogue One Vader then. I love that appearance the most, the suit is amazing! I'm not seeing a skull though even though Wantan said there is one. Would have to see the piece without the helmet to tell. Even in the video I couldn't see it, weird.
Anyway, looking forward to the comparison between this one and the 1/4th after the release. Curious to see the changes between them. 👀

@@BostonCollectors no mate! No Rogue One Vader yet (maybe one day!). But when this comes out I’ll have 1/4, ANH, ESB & Kenobi Vaders (I’m assuming Kenobi Vader will release before RotJ version).
Yeah I saw a hot toys clip of the mask flickering and pretty sure I could make out the skull (might be imagining it tho!) But yeah looking forward to checking the difference between 1/6 and 1/4 RotJ Vader 😀

If they did, I would hate to pass him up. Although, I'd hate to have him just sitting in a box too. Hopefully moveable eyes and a better chair considering he dangled and the electric components were 50/50. Here's hoping though! Now's the time. 😄
I like them both but prefer Hayden’s Darth Vader. That being said I do think his Vader was on the smaller side as even his figure is smaller than the OT one.
Yeah, I prefer Hayden's as well. I like this one, so it would be cool to see how they compare in hand.
How do you know it’s smaller? You’re saying it’s smaller because of Hayden’s height? Do you not know that Vader has prosthetics? He didn’t look small in the show.
It’s the same height as the OT figures. The dimensions actually say 13.78 vs the ESB 13.77. Also Hayden was certainly given some lifts to match the OT Vader in height; or at least come close to it.

Couldn't blame you for passing. This is one of those pickups where I feel like it's overkill for my collection.
I've the collectors version on pre-order. I didn't want to pay the extra for a light up helmet that I'll never use.
Yeah, I don't blame you. If it weren't for the staircase diorama, I would've passed on it as well.
I love this release but I just think it's enough for me to replace my 40th Anniversary ESB version. I only like to display one representation of any character in my collection, troopers excluded, and the ESB version still does the job for me. I do however like the LED light lightsaber. I may have to pick that up on the secondary market
I would get it now rather than pay more later. However I would also figure out a way to expand my display area lol
Regarding the saber... it's not gonna be much brighter than the previous offerings. At least the batteries won't run out. However I end up using Soap Reactors and wire all of my figures and I also have art15custom ccfl sabers that look spectacular.
Haha, I'm also in that same realm of thinking. Why pay more later if I have the means to secure it now until I have space. If the lightsaber is anything like the Luke Skywalker Snowspeeder release, the wife and I damn near blinded ourselves looking at.
It's pretty decent on the ignited saber versus the dynamic effect though. CCFLs will always be king though.
Like you Boston, I just don't have the space for many figures. I am sort of collecting some pieces that I know may be expensive later, but I can really only display like 6-10 figures. So I picked up the Kenobi Vader Deluxe version when the pre-order came out because that was looking like a "definitive version" Now I can't decide haha. I grew up with the prequels, and I love ROTS in particular, but man ROTJ is still my favourite film, and Vader's redeeming is just *chef's kiss* . So I'm stuck. Good thing is, I could probably sell that Kenobi Vader when it comes out and maybe help fund this one. I do, however, also collect TVC (3.75") figures, and have a ROTJ Luke, and Emperor with throne in that scale. So maybe I get that ROTJ, and stick with the Kenobi 1/6th. For now I'm gonna hold off pre-ordering this, especially since I'm pre-ordering the new C-3PO. Anyway these are both AMAZING options for whoever wants them.

We were just having this conversation on Discord. It'd be cool to see Hot Toys consider a luxury line with limited pieces for something like that. Although, it would be pretty expensive considering his suit would be made of quite a bit of it.

Yeah his suit is a little too clean. When his mask is removed in the movie his suit is covered in this like fine white dust or white film.

unfortunate its just the terrible ESB release as a soft reissue with extra accessories. This is like the 6th or 7th Vader from Hot Toys, it should be perfect. Also beats me why they didn't just shrink the 1/4 into this, easy pass.
I think this is on Lucasfilm considering the appearance in both movies. I can't blame Hot Toys on this one since Vader's like printing money for them. Great for collectors who missed the ESB release, but not that great for those of us who have him and see this as a 2.0.

None of them are worth the asking price HT has chosen to go down. For degradation in materials inability to pose long term aswell is ridiculous how much 1:6 collecting has become

I think it is worth it it looks amazing. film accurate at that scale. Sort of baffled using Shaw though and not Hayden. Fans today see him as Vader. Its makes sense only because it is Return of the Jedi and not Obi-Wan Kenobi.
That's one of reasons to grab the Kenobi version for sure. Even though I see what you're saying, it would be disrespectful to throw Sebastian out entirely. Changing his force ghost to Hayden was already rough.
For OT fans, Shaw would be their Vader, but for you and I for example, Hayden is ours.
