Happy to see Triple H was not "afraid for his life", didn't hold old grudges, and now is ready to do big business. Pro wrestling needs more promoters with this kind of mindset.
I've always hated Triple H and the 'manner' he used to get to the top, but I gotta give him props for not being afraid to do what's best for business.

Cody Rhodes leaving started a lot of AEW's downfall. The one voice of reason left, and now we're seeing what AEW really is, amateur night.
Who wouldve thought that it would be Tony Khan to repair the relationship with Punk & WWE. Amazing
Triple H doesn't have to do a damn thing does he? Tony Khan just hands him everything on a platter. Just MJF now and that'll be that. On the plus side, Tony will be able to devote more time to GM Mode in EWR, and The Ballet Club will be back trampolining in a backyard fed near you in no time. So, every cloud and all that...

WWE is a business.
AEW is a hobby.
This is so true
Aew is the product of a spoilt daddy’s boy using his dads financial situation to try and become relevant
AEW is an adolescent manchild playing with his life-sized, wrestling action figures, but you probably already knew that.
And not a well managed hobby at that.

No matter what CM Punk does and does not do, people will always talk about him.
Punk draws in viewers, ratings and news for better or worse, but right now this is a huge victory for WWE and Punk.

Jim is completely correct, AEW acquiring Will Ospreay is a big deal, but WWE acquiring CM Punk makes AEW acquiring Will Ospreay seem like an after thought.
Who?
Will osprey is excellent but he isn’t box office. Mjf is the only star in aew.
Then he ain’t gonna be on the show till next year 😂 meanwhile Punk is gonna be on Raw with millions watching
Ospreay is good, but he's not well known outside the tiny group of wrestling hardcore fans who follow Japan. A lot of potential, but given how AEW is, he won't be a star. Probably end up having similar issues with Jungle Jack and the Bucks. The general public has no idea who he is, hell outside of the hardcore fans wrestling fans don't know who he is.
AEW has a 0% batting average for handling potential stars. See Starks, Hobbs, Wardlow, Punk, Rhodes, MJF, Pillman Jr, Cargill... no reason to expect Ospreay will have any chance in AEW.
Ngl, even if cm punk didn’t return in the wwe, aew signing ospreay means nothing to them.

In my opinion, Tony Khan's mismanagement of Punk's ordeals with The Elite and Jack Perry helped rebuild the bridge between CM Punk and WWE.
That one time Punk showed up backstage to Raw before his return definitely gives credence to that.
Between that and Vince being forced to the background, the conditions are perfect.
There was other people involved in that, that should have been fired too
Money builds bridges.
1% of my mind now thinks Punk got fired on purpose because this all happened way too quickly.
The way triple h negotiated this and kept a lid on it until the moment it happened needs to be taught/studied in business school. It really was a masterstroke and proof positive that the guy is worthy of his position in the business.
I think HHH deserves a lot of credit for everything he has done, but he also deserves blame on stale title reigns, not enough new stars being made. This decision was not nearly as difficult as it sounds. The fact that they brought Cody back, even though the circumstances are different, tells you this was a possibility right from the start. If he fell flat in AEW they wouldn’t resign. But he is still a draw and it’s about $$$$. Plus this gives them an opportunity to bring back AJ Lee, maybe injecting something into the women’s division it needs. Rhea is way overdone, and the women’s division itself is just meh right now.
I mean... literally every single person attending and watching expected this. So... they can say "WOW it was SO tight-lipped, real down low, can't believe it," and maybe it WAS super cut close and not even happening "til it happened," but everyone there was prepared to see him.
Once he left aew and the not good for business right now we knew he was coming back.
Meanwhile Tony has big wrestlers he's interested already wrestling on his show with a contract or appearing in the crowd. Totally kills the hype. He's clueless.
Notice how he didn't get on social media and tweet endlessly about it.
Khan should take notes. 🤦
Cornette mentioning how likely it is that two ex AEW employees could headline Wrestlemania really puts how much Tony has fumbled into perspective
Not since Bischoff gave WWF Austin, Foley and Triple H has anyone fumbled the ball so badly.
He's Chandler Bing. A dropper. It's eminently obvious by now Tony Khan-t.
Plus Jade having a big match in Mania as well
I would laugh my ass off if somehow, Pillman Jr got to the main roster and also lands a WM match as well
@pontflair At least he might have chance to wrestle in the main PLE cards and winning real championship under HBK booking as of now in NXT
CM Punk went from never wanting to wrestle again to signing with AEW, hoping to work with some new talent and have some good matches to retire with to now possibly headlining the biggest wrestling show of the year 😂. What a roller coaster of a story this past 10 years has been.

It's notable, that The Elite had a golden opportunity to do reality based angle with CM Punk.. it would have been massive in terms of attention, and it could have been an opportunity for them to really work on the story and character work in wrestling, and promos, if they had the balls to go there. If they were successful, they could have reinvented themselves, and gotten a higher profile because, again, fans would have tuned in. That ship has sailed, and they are always going to be niche because they won't learn and grow
THIS. The Elite really fumbled this with Tony Khan. TK should have looked at it and realized he wouldn't have to spend his own money to keep AEW afloat now. Matt & Nick Jackson should have been given an ultimatum - work with CM Punk, make AEW money, or TK can find some new EVPs. Now Tony Khan will blow through his inheritance just to not even halfway draw fans to their shows on Wednesday/Friday/Saturday. But oh he has Will Ospreay and Adam Copeland (until Ospreay and Copeland decides they don't want to be there and entertain an offer with WWE).
100% this would have been the move and may have boosted aew interest to at least knocking on wwe’s level instead of sinking like the titanic.
Now WWE is going to show AEW what they should have done by doing this program with Punk and Rollins.

The moment we've all been waiting for. Big thanks to Tony Khan, Jake Perry, The Elite, and the "AEW Disicple Committee" for making this happen. RAW is about to get the biggest rating boost it's had in years. Every TV station now will be throwing money at WWE for the TV rights for RAW. Yes, I do feel WWE didn't need Punk, but they are going to know how to use him. The picture of HHH and Punk together broke the dirt sheets, as they have spent the last two days crying like spoiled children, at the fact WWE worked the fuck out of them. No one knew this was happening and Meltzer, SRS, Fightful, and everyone are losing their minds. It's gotten so bad they honestly think Seth and Punk are going to get in a backstage brawl, instead of setting up one of the biggest matches for the Rumble or Mania. Of course, the dirt sheet also thinks Drew stormed off angry because of Punk. They are so fucking gullible. Tony Khan, The Elite, and Meltzer all need a wellness check after the beating WWE is about to give them. Out of everyone involved in this situation, from AEW to WWE, Triple H is the one who comes out of this smelling like a rose the most. He set a shining example for how a boss and executive should treat and handle talent that they've had heat with. Whatever one wants to say about H's ego, he has the emotional maturity and the leadership skills to let bygones be bygones, bury the hatchet and let a stupid beef go. That's something that Tony and his EVPs will never be able to because they operate with the emotional intelligence of 10 year olds. Triple H knew that he held Punk's legacy and redemption in his hands and he could've easily squashed any hope of ending his career in the big leagues on a positive note. And instead of sabotaging it because of old heat, he chose to do the opposite. That's some of the most real man alpha male king shit I've ever seen. My respect for H was already sky high but now its up in outer space. Well done, sir. You're a real one and a true leader. #therealbookeroftheyear

Where do you think he learned that from? Gee, maybe his father in law that did it countless times over the years?

I almost feel sorry for Tony Kahn. He has been taken advantage of so much, and he is way too nice to be a promoter in the wrestling business. Tony isn’t a leader, and all of those wrestlers in AEW know that. He has lost a lot of money and momentum due to the jealousy and immaturity of those in his ear.
The EVPs had their feelings hurt bc they went to jump CM Punk and got beat up. They were butthurt over it and instead of turning it into money, they acted like children.
I have no doubts that they had something to do with the difficulty CM Punk had in England before the All-Out Wembley show. They were trying to goad Punk into getting himself fired. They probably got into Luke Perry's son's ear too before he got choked.
The children were the "We Are The World" record that reunited Punk and WWE

The idiots who gave a victory lap in the Collision ring cause they got rid of their merch seller and ratings draw. Tony already lost Cody Rhodes,Jade Cargill and now CM Punk. The fact people can't definitely say whether Rollins and Drew's outburst is a legit shoot or work shows how well WWE has played the angle.
