We are from Detroit and in the 90s my wife managed upfit facilities as a contractor for Ford, see worked at a number of facility's in the midwest but the 3 years she spent in St Paul were her favorite, she loved the area and the people and has stayed in touch with many who worked for her, I remember how bad she felt when the plant closed, knowing that many good people would lose their jobs.
Driving my 2009 Ranger I made a short trip and visited that plant on the last day of production in December 2011. On the 3 huge parking lots was a sea of thousands of white Rangers, about 8 tan and cream colored Rangers and just one dark blue Ranger. I’m guessing that the 2011 XLT Supercab I’m sitting in was there that day but I bought it used in June 2015. I’ve owned 3 Rangers built at that Saint Paul plant: White 2004 XL longbed 2.3 5 speed manual with ac. White 2009 XL longbed 2.3 5 speed manual with ac. 2011 XLT Supercab 2.3 5 speed manual transmission which was a rare combination.
I have a 1994 Super Cab Ranger XLT 4.0 5 speed RWD that came from the St.Paul site and spent its whole life in Minnesota. Surprisingly the only thing rusted out is the box, frame and cab are mint.

my dad worked there for 30 year's. i have some good memories of dad taking us in the plant.
It is really sad that they closed this plant. I had dreamed about working there and building cars since I was 6, and now it is gone.
