is it possible to use this tool to calculate how much of the PV panel area is shaded and what percentage of the pv area is in sun?
and then calculate this value for each hour of the year? ideally export results to a csv file or similar.

Super helpful and timely information, I just modeled my home the other day and designed an attached southfacing sunroom greenhouse on the front. I can manually enter time and dates but wanted to make animated videos for key points in the year for how sun/shadow fall on the home wall.
Trying to tweak the opaque and glazed roofing for optimum shade and solar gains. This extension will likely be perfect for that

Hello! Thank you for this tutorial it's really useful! I tried to export the animation and the 2D images but the sun path won't show for some reason. is there a way to export them with the sun path?

I never understood why in the US they use the month/day/year format for the date. It makes much more sense to start from the more specific and go to the more general (day/month/year) or from the more general to the more specific (year/month/day)
Hmmm...I could get on board with the second one. Don't agree with the day/month/year though - to me you need to know the month before the day. I personally don't think referencing the day first makes sense. Really doesn't matter what I think though, it is what it is :)

When you import a geo- location directly into the model, is the default solar north shown by curic sun correct or does it need to be manually adjusted? Thank you!

Love your vids. Very helpful. Now let me return the favor. I am in the solar industry. Your model home has solar panels on it. Ideally, they would be pointed south. However that is seldom the case. this extension would really help the customer to understand what hours he is going to get power (sunshine) other than dead south install. Very helpful. Thank you.

First of all I congratulate for your channel which I find very informative and well crafted. Also happy new year.
Just a question. If I'm not mistaken a little while ago you did a video on the LiveSync feature on Sketchup syncing with Lumion specifically in regards to Sun shadows and the ability to sync real time the shadows in Lumion by changing the settings of the sun on Sketchup after geolocating. I think that's what I need as I don't seem to be able to sync the two of them real time. I have Sketchup 2020 and Lumion 10. Somehow I cannot locate your video anymore where you were going through the routine about how to sync the two of them. Would you please be able to point me to that video please?

Thanks for the video! My curic sun toolbar has disappeared even when ticked in the tool palette section and I can't seem to get it back. Could this be because I am using SketchUp 2022?
I love it. Thanks a lot. I need to do the same but instead of having a house above the location image I need to make a quarry under the level of the location. Is someone knows how to do it? Can I use the same option or it will not works because I am trying to make a geometrical figure on top of the image and after that to extrude it but it doesn't work. :))
How do you control shadows in Pro? Location is not avail. in Pro. Keeps telling me to log in, but I am logged in so I assume Pro doesn't allow location. I need to do typical office layouts and need the shadows to always be behind the furniture. Sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't but I can't seem to control it.
This is great - although I'd recommend orienting your house so the solar panels face the sun!

hey! I have a problem, why I can't change sun azimuth? I made all of it, what I need, geo location etc... and I know its going automahtic, but are differences between automathic sun azimuth and Solar Position Calculator...the same with sun atlitude, but this I can change parameter, its editable,sun azimuth not :(

Justin, can this analysis be done in Sketchup cloud? I am using a free version of software.
No - online version doesn't support extensions
FYI,as of July 2022, this extension is still available and free, but still no updates (still says compatible with 2017 -18) and there is absolutely no documentation.
Also I’ve yet to figure out how to get it to stop running,,, lol.
I just end end up closing out SketchUp and restarting again.
Cool extension, but would be of more use if it was more user friendly.

the problem is i want to export 3d and 2d but its not showing sun path
Sketchup got shadow but not cloud , that's pluglin is great for the position of shadow.
Clouds are usually added in a rendering program - I can't think of a reason to have clouds just for 3D modeling, that's more of a rendering function
