2.11, pendulum sweep. And about 10 different opportunities for uke to armbar you. I think you'd need a seriously incompetent opponent to allow a gift wrap inside their own closed guard. If this worked at a high level it would be a common escape in BJJ matches. It definitely isn't..
A pendulum sweep would be difficult against me in this scenario because I am controlling uke’s left hand. It is the left hand which they would usually use to pull my right arm across in order to break my balance and sweep me to my right. However, as I have control of their left hand then the pendulum becomes much more difficult as they cannot break my balance as effectively. If you attempted this movement before controlling their left hand, then yes you would be susceptible to a pendulum. However, if in this case, I have the dominant grip. It’s a good point you raise, and a detail I should have covered in the video!
There are always opportunities for many counterattacks, if one is gonna only go for the safe high percentage moves, one won’t go for any move at all.. and this is best learning for the guard players to know another move people may try to use against then.. chances are some may try to pull it on you and they could succeed if you weren’t expecting it.. don’t be so eager to criticize and be more eager to learn.. in good justice this is a variant of the Sao Paolo pass, instead of using an under hook he is using a neck/ arm wrap, the rest is classic Sao Paolo pass..
@@tribalman9668 couldn’t have said it better myself. One of the big flaws of the internet is that people are overly analytical which dampens the creativity of grappling as a whole. “What about this” / “what about that”. I always try my best to put techniques out there that try to push the way people approach movements. One other thing to note is that there is an assumption that I am not aware of said counter attacks - of course I am - but grappling is a game of chess. It’s about who can get there first, who can react or adapt first, who can exert enough pressure to nullify the others movements. Even with a basic Ippon Seoi Nage there are countless counter attacks; but does that mean judoka should never try it?
@@SampsonJudo exactly.. me I would go as counter for the butterfly/ elevator sweep.. I will be more careful with the pendulum sweep especially the version that goes for the leg and not for the GI pants.. my opponent may be trying to lure me into it so she/ he can collapse on my arm and now both my arms are trapped .. but the key is not to let the first arm be wrap around one neck, after that is downhill…but like you said possibilities are endless and you are just contributing to the game to the best of your abilities which btw are for sure far superior of most criticizing.. lol.. thanks for your work!
