  • Here is another turnover into Kata Ha Jime. This time, I'm showing an unconventional angle for the turn. However, moving to the outside generates a large amount of force against your opponents back, which helps the turn to happen.

    Aside, I understand working on these offensive techniques to apply quickly when the opponents are in that position or when you are keeping them there for a few seconds against their will, but judokas should stop being told that "turtling up" is a defense. It's not.
    And awesome video and demonstration, as always.

      I definitely agree! It’s an unfortunate by product of the rules. If more time was allowed on the ground, the “turtle” was be a terrible position, much like it is in BJJ.
