    I was talking with the guy that owns a local shop. He’s selling his ammo at normal prices while other shops are double or more. He said the suppliers aren’t upping their price to the shops, the shops are gouging the consumers.

    • @fishymacaroon6
      @fishymacaroon6 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Wouldn't doubt that some of it is supply control. If a shop ups their price, it discourages individuals and small groups wiping out the stores inventory and preventing others to make purchases.

      I've bow hunted for over forty years, if you want meat but don't want to draw attention to yourself archery is one of the best methods along with trapping. Get some leg hold traps and snares and learn how to best use them. Some dog proof racoon traps are really easy to use and you just need something to club them over the head if you are trying to not use ammo or draw attention to yourself.

    • @oaksparoakspar3144
      @oaksparoakspar3144 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      So long as ammo is impossible, mags are not a bad buy. Some firearms (some, mind you) are down to good prices as well (particularly some of the pocket pistols).
      If ammo stays dry, there will be ever more mags and guns entering the market with no one to buy them because no one can feed them EXCEPT for those (of us) who stocked ammo for years. I snagged some good 33 round Glock mags (green instead of black, but that lets me color code which have range ammo and which have bump in the night party favors) at a steal. Sure, it is odd that I'm putting $25 into them (when it should be $7), but I could fill 100 more, so no worries.
      I'm looking for two spare pocket 9's that match my EDC to put in the cars and replace the off caliber pocket guns that currently live in them. I'm hoping to catch some deals if they start to fill the shelves since no one else can feed them.

    Something amazing you can buy is Dave Canterbury's 4 volume box set on Bushcraft.
    Man, I never knew how OP cattails are, and they're one of the easiest plants to positively identify. They have so many uses it blew my mind.
    It also teaches useful skills like how to properly trap game, several ways of preserving meat, fruits, and veggies, fire building tricks, etc.
    It even has an entire volume dedicated to wilderness medicine and first aid. One part of that book that really got my attention was when the doctor gave the scenario of you taking a fall after losing your footing and impaling your lung on a broken branch. So that just happened, and you're by yourself. You have a sucking chest wound, and any moment your lung is gonna collapse. What do you do?
    Those books answer all sorts of questions like that. Amazing to think a bit of tape and a sandwich bag can save your life in that scenario, used to create a one way valve (cut bag into square, place over wound, and tape up 3 sides). Prevents air from being sucked in through the wound, but will allow air to escape the wound. The information in those books, especially the medical one, is damn near priceless in an emergency. Also reminds you not all knife blades will spark on fire steel, a real bummer of a thing to find out in the field if that was your plan to start a fire, lol.

    I live in a small town. There is only one store in my home town that sells ammunition. They has a sign that's been up on the door for several months now that says that masks must be worn inside the store at all times (because it's a state ordainance now) and that they are sold out of all types of ammunition. It's like the establishing shot in some kind of dystopian sci-fi/disaster movie.

    I highly recommend companies like spiritus systems, crye precision, velocity systems, or trex arms if y’all are looking for plate carriers, chest rigs, and belts. All are very similar in price from $100-300.

    Just curios: What rifle is directly over Eric’s head, partially obscured by his “Fender” cap? I’m interested in this and never seen one like it. More specifically I’m interested in the rifle with the brown stock & magazine, not the rifle in the natural finish.
    Can anyone help me out here? Thanks in advance!

    I've seen the pmags for 19.99 here. Used to be cheaper.
    The only thing that really seemed to stay the same price were optics and small parts like springs and pin sets, heck even nods seem the same or a bit cheaper. Everything else has gone up, including MREs.

    Training is huge. I would encourage everyone even if they're not gun owners to be trained and equipped to deal with traumatic injuries and basic first aid. During the riots which is assume we will see some this summer, medical response in many areas of city and even suburbs EMS could not or would not be able to get to you in normal times. In urban AOs 1-3 hours for EMS was not uncommon. Having the skills and equipment to treat serious injuries is extremely important and those kits are worth thier weight in gold if you need them. Just like a firearm, when you need it, you REALLY need it.
    I think general preparedness and getting that squared away, upgrade supplies or gear if you need to bug in for a little bit is wise. Seeing the panic buying during the 15 days in March it was a relief for me knowing I was only topping off some basics and this wasn't my only food, TP or whatever unlike most other people. Same during the riots, when stores closed at 6pm or others had been looted, knowing you are prepared if you are looking at those issue is smart.
    Gardening is huge, that can be done almost every place someone lives even if it is a plant or 2. Anything you can do that will allow you to learn that skill is great thing and it is a learning experience for me every single year

    Considering this scarcity,i was planning on finally getting into flintlock and black powder firearms.
    Also,i remember a guy creating an air machinegun with easily found materials,and he released that video so that people from around the world could arm themselves. Caselman i think.Might be good to join that side too.
    Also,wasn't there a prototype coil gun some years ago?
    After that,i can only think of crossbows.
    If things really get bleak there are always polearms, Cold Steel make some good ones.
    If push comes to stove,better learn from Adam Celadin or similar how to throw knives.

    I recently bought a Russian parts kit build AK for $1000 even, spent about $22 each for polish surplus steel 7.62x39 mags in two batches, and at the same time as the mags I bought 200 rounds of Red Army Standard for $77 shipped to fill the mags I bought so I had something on hand until I could buy a whole case at a decent price. I'm also about to pull the trigger on buying an Armi Galesi .25 for pocket carry thst the guy wants $100 for, and I'm also buying a vintage .32 acp surplused police pistol my buddy scored in a trade for my mom as a gift. There's deals to be had as long as you don't panic and you shop around for the best price like you normally would.

    Where i live( next to the bluegrass army depot) having gas masks is common! Also a full shelter in place kit with 6 mil plastic sheeting and duct tape as well as a secondary heavy vinyl tape. The destruction of those weapons is iffy and its a hot topic here.
