    A timeless masterpiece, grossly underrated.

    I agree completely. This movie is fantastic. All the actors were great; Kilmer, Jolie, Hopkins, Leto, Dawson. And Colin Farrell knocked it out of the park pure and simple. Oliver Stone approached like a Shakespearian History and made a masterpiece. The Revisted Final Cut is the best version in my opinion. I would kill to see it in IMAX with the sound cranked.

    I hope this cut comes to 4K Blu-ray instead of the Ultimate Cut. Ironically, the longest version of the movie has the best pacing.

    I heard the Widescreen Director's cut DVD is 7 min shorter then the theatre release, why is that?

    • @madgang201
      @madgang201 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nearly 20 minutes of footage was removed and certain scenes were put back in. Some of the pacing is a little different as well.
      Personally, it’s his worst cut.

    what's the difference between the final cut and the ultimate cut?

    • @Roadtoinferno
      @Roadtoinferno 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The final cut is the most complete of them all, running for almost 3,5 hour. The ultimate cut is shorter as Stone decided to remove some scenes as he felt he added in too much. IMO Final Cut is the best even though the timeline jumps all over through flashbacks

      From what I could tell they’re essentially the same. The scene where Alexander talks battle tactics (the one with all the pieces on the floor and he’s holding a stick) with his generals in the tent prior to the Gaugamela battle is removed from the ultimate cut. That’s the only one that stood out to me.

    Richard Burton IS Alexander The Great.

  • @jimtrueblue99
    @jimtrueblue99 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Restore all the cuts you want, but the film still doesn't work because Colin Farrell is not now or ever Alexander the Great. There's no ruthlessness about Colin Farrell's Alexander, but the real Alexander was total ruthlessness. That's missing.

    • @colonelwhite1512
      @colonelwhite1512 6 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      The Alexander of your imagination. Alexander was many things and only one of them was ruthless.

    • @kuko331
      @kuko331 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@colonelwhite1512 of course Alexander was ruthless, systematically killed of generation of his father, only antipater stayed alive and only bcoz he didn't go campaigning with them, Alexander was a true mass murderer, but like u said among other things....

      Tom Cruise could have been a great Alexander in 80s or 90s, but Colin Farell didn't bad man

    • @Roadtoinferno
      @Roadtoinferno 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      To show Alexander as merely ruthless takes all the humanity this film wants to portray that he was human afterall
