I like that this system uses the 1.9GHz wireless band instead of the crowded 2.4GHz band. And the MKE2 is an awesome mic. I've had my eye on this system for years. And speaking of that... the AVX system has been around since 2015. I wonder if they will ever make a replacement? Or maybe they're thinking "don't mess with success" 😎
Hello Tommy, Thank you for this review. I want to upgrade my mic set up. Do you know if there is a significant difference in terms of sound quality between sennheiser mke2 in the rode wireless pro compare to the sennheiser avx system ? Thank you in advance
2:57 the problem with the noise assist is that it takes the bass away. However, if you use the sennheiser without the noise assist and you use the new voice isolation in danvinci resolve the fan noise is completely gone, plus you have bass in your voice
They don't appear to sell just a transmitter/receiver kit? I already have LAV mics. If you buy each separately its more than the pack with the ME2 mic included. That kinda sucks.
The MKE2 is a fantastic sounding mic. The only gripe I have is that the cable gets kinked pretty easily and you'll never get it perfectly straightened ever again.
Thanks, not sure if I can dig into my pockets for more toys as I try and get a streaming setup going from my shop, but I do probably need a lav.... ugh...
Tech question on Sennheiser AVX-MKE2 . Using 2 of them. One in input 1 and one in input 2 (c200). channel is squelched. sounds crackly. seems like you cannot use two at the same time. BUT: only interference or whatever on channel 2. never channel 1. it's not my camera audio settings. Any idea?
I've been using the AVX system for several years now, and I love the convenience and ease of use. However, no matter what recorder I plug it into, I always get tiny little clicks/peaking in the audio where it clips for a split second, seemingly randomly, no matter what I have the gain set to on the recorder and the receiver. It happens maybe once or twice a minute on average when someone is talking. It kinda sounds like auto gain control not reacting quick enough, but I have everything set manually. It's super annoying, although it is a quick fix in Premiere with the DeClicker. Still not good when I need to deliver the audio straight to a client though. And I'd rather edit in Davinci, but they don't seem to have an effect DeClicker built in. Definitely disappointing for such an expensive and otherwise useful piece of kit.
Great review thanks! I have the cheaper XS Wireless Digital set and the sound quality is not good enough, and the XS receiver while smaller, does not rotate, and winds up plugging in with the button/light upside down in a MixPre. Don’t recommend anyone to use XS system. Go for the AVX, or better.
I'm a bit confused. Is this the same AVX that was first released in 2015 or something? Because yeah, that system is cool, but battery life of the receiver has always been a problem. I don't know, when a review comes out you sort of assume that the product is new :p
Did you watch the video at all? The battery life of the receiver is a completely non issue the way I’m using it. Also, yes - the avx kit isn’t a new product. But it’s new to me.
@@TommyCallawaythanks, for my Sony UWP receiver I have always plugged it into a separate Power bank and now with my new AVX system I will try the USB port on my Mixpre instead!
I’ve always loved Sennheiser’s wireless systems. This one sounds and looks terrific.
I’ve used many brands.. the form factor of the receiver sells it for me as much as the sound quality

Love the AVX for doc/one man band applications. Super easy to use!
most charismatic video ytuber.
Thanks man! I got this thing a while back, and I couldn't easily figure out how to set up the clip :). You made my day :)
Just my opinion but the lav sounded better than the shotgun mic, at least to me.. Great review.
is there any way to get noise assist for more run-and-gun shots? or something smaller that's easy to travel/vlog with but get just as good audio?
It’s a bit out of my price range, but that thing sounds really good. Definitely gonna throw it on my wishlist.
Good to see you over here Jarius! I’ve wanted to play with this thing since I learned about it around 2017.. definitely a useful tool.

What are your thoughts on the Sennheiser EW-DP

If you’re moving around a lot, a lav is for sure the way to go
Thanks for a great video! AVX systems sounds great!

Is it your unit maybe?
Wish I had the need & the budget for Senne pro gear! Lol! Another great video. "Getting Lit" making a return?
Good review. Thanks for sharing.
can I use this mic with Samsung s21 ultra phone?

Why is it recording so much background noise for me?

@@TommyCallaway Is the Zoom F6 able to be rigged up the way you have the MixPre setup to power the receiver?
