The main character has found his mate dead. He asks “Why do I live? Why do I die? Why do I laugh? Why do I cry? I have never felt comfortable in my own skin here on the ground. I’d rather be a bird because life may be more beautiful seen from above.” When the song is finished, he bends down and closes her eyes. I heard several French vocal coaches say that this is considered one of the five most difficult French songs. 🎉🎉🎉
