I'm a proud Coventrian, born & bred. Born in Kerseley, though I was raised in the Canley area of the city most of my life. The City of Coventry has a great history & wonderful old buildings, as depicted in this wonderful video above. Like any other city in the UK, it also has its problems, which I never deny or gloss over, either. So great to see it in a nice light for a change without any negativity.
@@Mark28644 I’m born and bread in Longford 47 Hurst road my grandad and nans small holding the butcher shop still standing on the Longford road with the original glazed bricks beautiful city centre but I think they have built to many tall buildings now it’s hard to see all three spires 👍
I Love Coventry. The old and the new buildings are fantastic. There is so much to see and it would be lovely if you could do another one. Great video. Thanks Neil.
I live in Oregon USA and I may never get to visit these places. But, thanks to you I can see them and appreciate how beautiful they are. Thank you. And Merry Christmas!
Yes! I am glad the ruins are still there. We need those, too. The Golden Cross Inn is amazing. I would love to go inside to see what it looks like in there. From Washington state, south of Seattle. Lovely walk, thank you! ❤❤
Fantastic video. My partner and I lived in Coventry for many years. We now live in West Sussex. You mentioned the Specials at the Cathedral ruins in 2019. I was there for that concert. If you get to do another video visit Spon Street which is the Tudor street. Also the 2 Tone museum or Coventry music museum. We love your videos. Cheers Mike and Alison xx
Thank you so much, you have no idea how much your videos help us. Some of us have to relocate to different places and can't afford to see what that place is like ahead of time, but your videos give us that insight.
Honestly I’d not been to Coventry before and didn’t know what to expect Fell in love with the whole area, booked a few more nights there, stayed longer and had a great time!
Love Coventry, haven’t been back for the best part of 30 years but I’ve promised me dad I’d come back up from Kent to take him to watch the Sky Blues when they get back in the premier league. The city centre used to have large aviaries dotted about with exotic birds when I was a kid, also a Wimpey that looked like a flying saucer, used to get me footy clobber from a shop called Eltex up near the train station and me Pringle and Lyle & Scott jumpers from Johnny Reays golf shop in Keresley. I worked down Coventry Colliery when I left school but that ended when it shut. Great place…PUSB. 👍🏻
Coventry is so much more than its buildings, old and new. Its industrial heritage is rich and varied and as its industry grew so did the city. All of this is down to the past and present inhabitants of Coventry for it is the people that make a city great and they have built a history and a city to be proud of, despite one or two architectural faux pas after the war.
Wonderful video. I didn't realise Coventry had such fantastic old buildings and I'm from the West Midlands! I knew about the bombed out cathedral of course, but not all those other buildings and architecture, definitely worth a visit to explore.
We speak with an accent exceedingly rare, you want a cathedral we've got one to spare, in our Coventry homes! Thank you for documenting our beautiful sky blue city. Sadly one of the 3 spires is missing now due to the reformation, but it's known as the three spires city. It has changed a lot over the years, the Coventry cross was moved more recently as that used to be behind cathedral lanes.
Love Coventry. I'm there on the regular as I'm a supporter of the Coventry Blaze ice hockey team. You may have seen their home the Skydome on the drive in or out of the city on the ring road.
Hello, I live in Coventry, if you visit again go to Spon St and also Coventry Registry office also very old and beautiful. I'm glad you liked it. Coventry has really old and really new. Thank you for adding Coventry to one of your walks. 😊
I visited, & the historical buildings along with their pavements in Coventry are absolutely glorious, but sadly very few remain. They should have waited & restored Coventry to his former glory (as they've done in other countries) as it would have benefitted Coventry & the country on many levels, as those so-called harsh modern buildings & layouts have since created an ugly unsettling soulless atmosphere, & I couldn't wait to leave.
Ive lived in Coventry nearly 20 years now,its very historic in parts. Also I recommend the 2tone museum brilliant place for nostalgia. Ask Ur mum or dad if u have no clue what im on about! Lol
Oh I went to the 2Tone museum when I was in Coventry filming this video I’m now the biggest 2Tone fan and a huge fan of the city of Coventry too That museum is so so good I love it Can’t wait to get back!
The contrast between the beautiful old buildings and the modern ones is incredible. Do you think some of those shop buildings will be there in 500 years ?
You certainly looked at some of the nice places in the city but I'm disappointed that you didn't feature the 'new' cathedral. It's a beautiful building and even if you didn't want to go inside you could have mentioned some of the info about it's architecture.
By the Cathedral and Council House is beautiful but my life much of the Shopping area isn’t good at all…😢 Friarsgate is decent too. Could do with a few bars in the area though.
Sadly today there are many very bad areas of Coventry and the city has suffered greatly for much of the past one hundred years. The wartime bombings destroyed or damaged many historic buildings but pre war town planners did as much damage by turning the town centre into a hideous concrete block but as you have shown Coventry still has many beautiful buildings to see. I am a little surprised that you didn’t include Spon Street where many old medieval buildings were moved to, being rebuilt brick by brick. The Lady Godiva clock, a twee late fifties addition is worth seeing too. Coventry has suffered so much and it continues to be affected by economic problems that began much earlier than in many other British cities but it still has much to offer visitors.
I do live in Coventry but I’m on holiday in Doboj I miss Coventry and my grandma who lives in Doboj just getting a creepy smile and ruining my TH-cam channel 😢
I can the problem with it from this video. The city is clearly too big in a sense that it would require much more people to sustain the economic of the city.
They spent a lot of money doing up Broadgate before the Olympics, so it's only really the past decade or so that it's had that greenery. Before then it was utterly depressing, it literally was all concrete and roads. I still can't stand the place, I've had too many horrible experiences with people there, and avoid it at all costs. You only really showed the better parts of the city too. I haven't been there since before the pandemic but I bet that the precinct area is still full of societies rejects. Next time, take a walk through Hillfields. Then hop on a bus to Wood End and Stoke Aldermoor. Good luck uploading any footage, I'd be surprised if you made it out with your camera/phone still in your possession.
It's nice of you to show the nice of Coventry. But I'm sorry to say that's all Coventry has got to offer 😅 it's a hell hole fuck of crime and heroine addiction and crack cocaine..
Yay!!! Thank you for showing my home!!!!! PUSB
