From a dig you can tell the rwd is superior than fwd (for better take offs), then things even out more once rolling. Bc power to weight… A lighter base mustang with PP package (for better gearing) should do a little better from a roll. 310 hp (if the mustang here was on 93 octane), but remove ~30 hp for the 300 lbs “ disadvantage” over the Accord and it ends up being. ~~~ 270ish vs 280 ish hp…. For every 100 lbs theres about 10 hp….

Based on that I figured the 252hp was legit. So based what you are saying my actual power gains are even smaller? That hurts. 😂😂
Will somebody explain to me like in these races the accord is a little behind the mustang then in another race the accord beats it. How does that happen it's not like the accords horsepower just went up out of the blue they even had the same modes on in each of the cars at the same time i mean if the accord is weaker it should not have won any of the races here or any roll race from different speeds I've seen this on other episodes that this happens as well
@@carlosgil4248 cuz different cars have different differentials and gearings, which means they react differently from a dig and a roll. Even if the horsepower is same, results could vary alot depending on just the gearing, transmission etc etc. from a roll it really depends how the torque curve is, some cars just have the top end, some has a decent low end torque and power available which helps getting them a better launch! I hope u get an idea

A guy once told me that it’s more fun going fast in a “slower” car than a fast car and owning both a 2015 CLS63S AMG 740HP & a 2019 Honda Accord sport 2.0 252HP I’ve realized he was right. The AMG would get to 200 within seconds and you run out of road. The 2.0 Accord is quick for what it is and beats a lot of same spec cars out there example: BMW 328 or a Mercedes C300 the accord is quicker than both stock and runs on regular fuel with the reliability of a Honda.

Have '19 Mustang w/2.3L TGDI Ecoboost & track pack. Been an excellent vehicle. No issues as expected. I'm not easy on my vehicles ..though always do excellent maintenance. Can cheaply mod my Stang for 350hp+ so sticking w/my daily driving Stang. Prob get new Gen7 '24 Mustang as soon as it comes out. Will have more power from Gen2 - 2.3L TGDI.
Wow this really shows the drag inefficiency of the Mustang at higher speeds. On paper the Mustang should have gapped the Accord so it really has to be an issue of drag coeffiency.
The 2.3 Ecoboost has no top-end power whatsoever, it was built for torque. That's in addition to the Accord having less drivetrain loss due to being FWD

Also from my experience with my 2.0. It seems it does best if after you launch you let the trans shift for you vs paddles. Some people even launch in 2nd gear to combat wheelspin and it seems to do better on the street.
That fact it kept up is embarrassing. This is a grocery getter and keeping up with a newer “Mustang”. I think top end if they went longer the Accord would take it.

The Mustang stock speed limiter is 122mph, the Accord 2.0T is 126. That's the difference here. Removed, the Mustang is 162-ish and the Accord 153-ish. Personally owned and tested both. Unlimited, the Ecoboost wins in every scenario. The Accord is still a better car to own year round, though.

Loved the race. It was interesting but I think the Mustang was the better car today. Clearly the higher numbers of the eco boost are worth it. I have driven an Edge 2.0 with eco boost and it was literally a beast when you put your foot down!

I own a 2.0 sport 2021 and 2 of my friends have a v6 2017 accord and Everytime we race its not even close. We have done rolls and dig and its the same result everytime. Yea i dont do it on sticky prepped surfaces so wouldn’t know if the v6 can win but i easily beat my friends’s challenger and charger v6 too but yea dont attack me i know they are heavy asf but have over 306hp but yea coming back to the accord, its not even close. You can go on youtube and even see videos of people racing and its the exact same result. I have not seen even one race where a stock v6 accord is beating the 2.0. I dont have any reason to lie tbh cuz i like both platforms and you can search it up to confirm. Been loving the new format and content but if I may, I think in the intro where you show the power to weight ratio.. I think a more common way to show this metric is to show how much weight per/hp. For example a car with 275hp that weights 3000 lbs would be 10.9 pounds per HP.. I think that might be easier to understand at a glance. Keep them coming
On races like this where the Mustang dominates the quarter mile, but you can see that during the last few hundred feet the Accord was steadily gaining, it would be interesting if it was possible race 600 feet longer or even a half mile to see which one would actually be winning at that point. That would be very interesting.
Honda engine becomes beastly at high rev. Nothing new, just more improved. Cant wait for Honda to put a torque converter in the accord 2.0T. It will be the perfect sports sedan
I have to say, I didn't think the accord when it ditched the six cylinder for 2018, would be even entertaining to drive, well I am happy to say I was wrong. This car is a sleeper and something to consider purchasing. Thanks for the comparison.
These videos are interesting. I really like my 2020 Mustang Ecoboost and it’s quick enough for me, though I would get the 5.0 if had to do over again, but you can’t go wrong with the Honda. I just like rear wheel drive.
Had the 19 2.0 touring and my god that thing moves and is a perfect daily driver w/ hella nice tech and comfort, just got a 21 type r, miss it so much 😭
I have an ecoboost mustang and my parents have a Accord 2.0T and i know it feels just as fast and powerful as the mustang, For me i started driving in the mid 90's, compared to those cars all new cars feel so fast and tight. We are certainly moving forward.
This makes me really really want to see the GLI vs ecoboost. If the accord was close to the mustang this makes me think the GLI race is gonna be a shocking one. Great video as always my man
i also noticed in the last race the Mustang had a Mishimoto Air Freshner haning from the rearview mirror. The only way to get that air freshener is to purchase a performance part from Mishimoto.
Slap a tune on these things and see what happens! Most enthusiasts don't leave the Mustang stock, so it would be great to see what the Accord can extrapolate too.
great benefit of Honda's is that a K-tuner is very cheap and easy to use. A fully stock accord with ECU flash and pilot sport's will be an easy 4.9s 0-60. Stock accord is a high 5.4 and that mustang looks like a low 5.4 lol. Most guys in my area just buy the fancy car with family money and dont know how to drive them.
This was a great race. I bet if that Accord had just a stage 1 tune with a ktuner, it would be just enough to take the win. But great races! I own a Ktuned Stage 1 2014 Accord V6, I think a race with a stock 2.0T Accord would be an interesting match up as well.
I'd like to see that too. If you Teammejo they have a bunch of Accord 2.0 vs 2017 Accord V6 videos where they literally race for around one mile or so. The V6 stays in the lead well beyond the 1/4 mile in those videos. It could be a closer race then people think.

The HPP Ecoboost puts up identical numbers to a Type R around a track. The HPP model is built for doing things like autocross and track use. It uses the Focus RS 2.3 engine instead of the 2.3 that comes on the regular Ecoboosts.
Something is definitely off in this video, my stock EB beats my buddies tuned V6 Accord, this Mustang should easily take the 2.0t. Probably 87 octane as you say.

Finally some ecoboost Mustang action. I think this vid supports the idea that the official Accord numbers are underrated. Plus the Mustang will have a little more drivertrain loss due to being RWD. Would still love to see a modern V6 Camaro (2016 to present) I'm these competitions. It has a little more power than the Ford and its lighter.
Its all about gearing. Mustang makes more power and has better power to weight ratio. Even though they both have 10 speed transmissions the gearing on the mustang gets very wide and lazy up around 5th gear and above. The accord keeps fairly evenly spaced ratios and it has a more aggressive final drive ratio. Lots more than just HP ratings at play here.
The accord is not underrated it's pretty spot on, I've seen plenty dyno'ed, also it is taller gears for better fuel economy so of course it's gonna have a higher top speed
Let's see the Mustang took it 3 out of 4 times. Not bad. Problem i see is the Turbo in the Mustang got to hot. Next Mustang doesn't have high end torque like the Accord does. High end torque is why the Accord kept coming up on the Mustang. Mustang is a low and mid torque car for racing.

Only in the last roll did accord tie; all the races the accord lost.
Also from my experience with my 2.0. It seems it does best if after you launch you let the trans shift for you vs paddles. Some people even launch in 2nd gear to combat wheelspin and it seems to do better on the street.

The Mustang stock speed limiter is 122mph, the Accord 2.0T is 126. That's the difference here. Removed, the Mustang is 162-ish and the Accord 153-ish. Personally owned and tested both. Unlimited, the Ecoboost wins in every scenario. The Accord is still a better car to own year round, though.
My accord 2.0T surprises a lot of people at the track. It's a modern sleeper

Loved the race. It was interesting but I think the Mustang was the better car today. Clearly the higher numbers of the eco boost are worth it. I have driven an Edge 2.0 with eco boost and it was literally a beast when you put your foot down!

I own a 2.0 sport 2021 and 2 of my friends have a v6 2017 accord and Everytime we race its not even close. We have done rolls and dig and its the same result everytime. Yea i dont do it on sticky prepped surfaces so wouldn’t know if the v6 can win but i easily beat my friends’s challenger and charger v6 too but yea dont attack me i know they are heavy asf but have over 306hp but yea coming back to the accord, its not even close. You can go on youtube and even see videos of people racing and its the exact same result. I have not seen even one race where a stock v6 accord is beating the 2.0. I dont have any reason to lie tbh cuz i like both platforms and you can search it up to confirm. Been loving the new format and content but if I may, I think in the intro where you show the power to weight ratio.. I think a more common way to show this metric is to show how much weight per/hp. For example a car with 275hp that weights 3000 lbs would be 10.9 pounds per HP.. I think that might be easier to understand at a glance. Keep them coming
On races like this where the Mustang dominates the quarter mile, but you can see that during the last few hundred feet the Accord was steadily gaining, it would be interesting if it was possible race 600 feet longer or even a half mile to see which one would actually be winning at that point. That would be very interesting.
Honda engine becomes beastly at high rev. Nothing new, just more improved. Cant wait for Honda to put a torque converter in the accord 2.0T. It will be the perfect sports sedan

These videos are interesting. I really like my 2020 Mustang Ecoboost and it’s quick enough for me, though I would get the 5.0 if had to do over again, but you can’t go wrong with the Honda. I just like rear wheel drive.

Even though I have a Dodge I really like the fast back look of the 2017 and newer Honda Accords. The Ecoboost mustang has good HP for a 4 cyl.

I have an ecoboost mustang and my parents have a Accord 2.0T and i know it feels just as fast and powerful as the mustang, For me i started driving in the mid 90's, compared to those cars all new cars feel so fast and tight. We are certainly moving forward.

It’s aerodynamics- the mustang has louvers (like the GT) direction airflow and that adds what can be significant drag. I thought it was gearing but-

i also noticed in the last race the Mustang had a Mishimoto Air Freshner haning from the rearview mirror. The only way to get that air freshener is to purchase a performance part from Mishimoto.

Slap a tune on these things and see what happens! Most enthusiasts don't leave the Mustang stock, so it would be great to see what the Accord can extrapolate too.
great benefit of Honda's is that a K-tuner is very cheap and easy to use. A fully stock accord with ECU flash and pilot sport's will be an easy 4.9s 0-60. Stock accord is a high 5.4 and that mustang looks like a low 5.4 lol. Most guys in my area just buy the fancy car with family money and dont know how to drive them.
I believe the Accord Sport 2.0 is fifty pounds lighter than the Touring model used here. Wonder if that would have much impact on the results.

I'd like to see that too. If you Teammejo they have a bunch of Accord 2.0 vs 2017 Accord V6 videos where they literally race for around one mile or so. The V6 stays in the lead well beyond the 1/4 mile in those videos. It could be a closer race then people think.

The HPP Ecoboost puts up identical numbers to a Type R around a track. The HPP model is built for doing things like autocross and track use. It uses the Focus RS 2.3 engine instead of the 2.3 that comes on the regular Ecoboosts.

Would still love to see a modern V6 Camaro (2016 to present) I'm these competitions. It has a little more power than the Ford and its lighter.
Its all about gearing. Mustang makes more power and has better power to weight ratio. Even though they both have 10 speed transmissions the gearing on the mustang gets very wide and lazy up around 5th gear and above. The accord keeps fairly evenly spaced ratios and it has a more aggressive final drive ratio. Lots more than just HP ratings at play here.

The accord is not underrated it's pretty spot on, I've seen plenty dyno'ed, also it is taller gears for better fuel economy so of course it's gonna have a higher top speed

Let's see the Mustang took it 3 out of 4 times. Not bad. Problem i see is the Turbo in the Mustang got to hot. Next Mustang doesn't have high end torque like the Accord does. High end torque is why the Accord kept coming up on the Mustang. Mustang is a low and mid torque car for racing.
