How I eat oysters? By the dozen
When I was younger, I used to swallow them because my Dad said that's how you ate them. Now I'm severely allergic to shellfish and don't do anything with them. I do still remember the taste of them and it was delicious.
Glad to hear your father, and I are on the same page, I still maintain that it’s not necessarily about the oyster or even how to eat them but the process and the memories with Family much like this video with my kids, and everyone who finds themselves here debating this topic it’s pretty awesome.

Well Done, (pun intended) a very compelling argument. Makes me analyze the first time I had oysters, was it such a rarity I gobbled it up like an animal and never learn to slow down and savor the flavor? Probably but I have had fried oysters that I chewed and I hate them. However, the next time I have raw oysters, I will chew one to confirm that. Again, excellent comment so much so that I would even consider this.

I chew but I prefer small enough to swallow. Smallest oysters seem to taste the best. Best I’ve ever had are at a French restaurant in Eugene Oregon called Bar Parliu. You don’t eat them with any oth the normal stuff you just mentioned. They have a strawberry vinegar you put on them. Absolutely out of this world put every other oyster in the country to shame so far I’m still on the hunt for the perfect oyster.

@Ghreyl you’re 100% correct that people should chew their food like a lot, make it baby food before you swallow, however, that is not my preferred method when eating oysters. I don’t even know if I mentioned this earlier, but eating oysters is like a ritual from the preparation to the swallowing in one big animalistic gulp to me anyway. I kind of wish I could’ve put up a survey on this.

I mean I grew up on raw oysters I am from the east coast of nc my dad started us on oysters at a very young age but now I love them grilled with a crack hot sauce an cocktail sauce my aunt will eat them fresh out the water raw

@@DyspareEmbodied sushi is ok not something I would eat all the time, my Kid just loves it. Just like oysters however where you are at really matters. i.e. Close to source or say like Vegas they have the demand and the $ to get them there fast and fresh.

If you directly swallow, what are you even tasting then
If you prepare it right with all the little condiments, each one contributes a flavor, including the oyster. It’s a melody of flavors and in my opinion better than any individual flavor, including full on bite the oyster. To me just eating the oyster is the same as just biting into a teabag versus having a nice refreshing cup of tea
