    wow what a phenomenal interview. i vaguely remember watching frank when i was a kid but didn’t really understand who he was or what was going on in cycling at the time. i am looking forward to reading this book, going to request my local library purchases a copy as well, so other people in my community can be exposed to this story...

    Great interview. I wasn't following cycling in Vandenbroucke's time, but it sounds like a great read.

    One of my favorite riders of that era. This interview is such a nice "revival" of the Legend.

    Good interview and a really good read. Even super fans of the era will learn something from the book. This video doesn’t really answer the question ‘just how good was VDB?’
    Contemporaries included Berzin, Casagrande and Bartoli who all won more and had style to match VDB’s.

    Thank you for posting this. Please consider doing more of these types of TH-cam clips. FVDB was a real talent and his story is so very sad.

      Glad you liked it Craig, do you mean like rider features?

    • @craigsteyn6099
      @craigsteyn6099 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thecyclingdane Maybe a feature that looks back at the stories of riders from years gone by. FVDB was a real talent that has almost been forgotten but you could say the same about Jiminez (deceased), Pererio, Ekimov etc. the list goes on and on. There are many backstories to these riders that are very interesting and I am sure that your followers would appreciate your insights and comments. Much of the content these days is focused on the here and now which is necessary, however, you may be surprised at the appreciation and likes you receive from featuring legends like FVDB - May this great talent rest in peace.

    If you open another youtube tap and watch Frank Vandenbroucke Tribute | VDB Forever on youtube and mute the music on it you can watch his races and listen to the two lads talk about him. there both 15min each so they sync 👌

    Total tragedy what a talent, I'm really bummed I missed out on eBay auction 3 years ago for Frank vandenbrouke's Cofidis MBK road bike from 2000' I wanted that for a cycling museum I'm putting together in Belgium in the next 2 year's.

    if there's less drug use now , i'd be amazed, just like i 'd be amazed anyone was taping this on a VHS recorder now...technology doesn't recede it gets refined.

      Theyve got it easier nowadays tbh with the bikes theyre all 10 or 12 speed super deep wheels ultra lightweight carbon fibre frank rode an 8 speed alloy bike and made it look effortless the drug culture was normalised more back then because it was a tougher sport

    VDB God, really? Never gave him that much credit. A flash in the pan, couldn't handle the fame and fortune. VDB was pushed into situations he was uncomfortable with...sad really.
