      i’m one of the people who didn’t like Blood and Wine that much. other than the stuff with Regis, i just didn’t like it. well, no, i liked the story, i didn’t like Toussaint. it’s too... stereotypically medieval. everything the main games went out of their way to not be, they made Toussaint and i just hated it and almost everyone in it.

    • @ReloadTH
      @ReloadTH 5 ปีที่แล้ว +63

      Blood and Wine definitely one of the best DLCs. Not only is it big and full of good story content, it also serves as the perfect farewell to the series. Hearts of Stone is imo underrated because it’s a little shorter but it has Gaunter O’Dimm, one of my favorite villains of any media/literature.

    • @Gothmor87
      @Gothmor87 5 ปีที่แล้ว +67

      @@DuFREAKY "it’s too... stereotypically medieval" - but this is exactly how it was portrayed in the book - high medieval times fairytale kicked up to 11. It looked cheesy at the top layer, but that was the whole idea. The more dark and brutal reality is there, hidden below the colorful and fancy stuff. But I get that you may not like it, as it is so different when compared to Velen or Skellige.

    Bought it on release date, still play it daily today. TW3 has something that almost no other game have. For example, recently I finished AC Odyssey with its amazing large open world. It contains many cities, but it lacks some kind of soul, love, passion, which makes it every time just a random, boring city. While TW3 only has two major cities, Novigrad and Oxenfurt, but it gives me so much more compared to all those cities in AC Odyssey. I'm still not tired of Novigrad, and on the other hand, I already forgot most places in Odyssey.
    TW3 is a gem in many ways.

      Odyssey is great, I just started it 3 weeks ago after completing the DLC content for TW3. But while I'm loving the game it doesn't have the same feel. The towns, the music, the people and vibe you get from each area is incredible in TW3. Very immersive. I get on the game just to capture that feeling again.

      Big problem with AC ODYSSEY is shallow dialogue, for example in that one questline where you help the rebels kill podarkes the cruel.
      I killed Podarkes right after meeting Kyra because he was a cultist and i alreaddy wanted to kill him, but the entire questline she completely ignores the fact that i killed him even when i told her that he is actually her father after finding evidance about it.

      side quests is story content. Graphics does not make a game by any means and never did. That isn't what I am talking about when I talk about the physical world design anyway. Take for instance. you have a massive world but it is so empty. It is filled with points of interest marked initially as question marks which destroys exploration by doing so without having to find them yourself. Those small points of interest are also small, insignificant, and copy/pasted to the point that it is ridiculous. Not to mention you have very few traversal options, the horse doesn't even control that well, and fast travel is very flawed as well because of the spacing between travel posts. It is fine that you liked the combat if that is your thing but it is very poorly designed and unbalanced especially with the use of that Quen power being so overpowered. The combat system itself is so basic and I can't even begin to explain all the problems with the leveling system. My point is that the game is a good game but it is certainly not a good game for being an open world game or even for it's combat. It is a good game for being an RPG but nothing more.

      Polish tales and folklore is fantasy mate.

    • @AirsoftAddicted
      @AirsoftAddicted 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sirol97 Stories and folklore are based on unrealistic events but one should remember that many of them have their roots in history or folk tales where imaginary motifs are combined with those that took place. Many things in The Witcher, even his appearance, are modelled on the medieval Polish one. Locations are similar to places that can be found in Poland. The port crane is identical to the one in Gdańsk, the townspeople use texts taken from Polish films, you can meet elements from Polish literature or architecture. Troll, who sings a military song, actually sings a song from the times of the First World War, to which the creators of The Witcher referred, is a Polish song of the 24th Uhlan Regiment. "Wierszyk", which can be found on one of the notice boards in Novigrad, is a paraphrase of a poem by the Polish poet Tuwim, known as "Poem, in which the author politely but firmly asks numerous groups of neighbors to kiss his ass" from 1937. One of the most famous Polish authors of the interwar period contained in it a satirical and blunt image of contemporary Polish society. The history of Wszelad is nothing more than a Polish story about "Popielu and Mouse Tower". One of the information boards advertises "the wedding band of Janko Muzykanta", singing such hits as "White Teddy Bear", "Miraculous Parents of Mums" or "Szła elfeczka do laseczka". (have no idea how to translate it). "White Teddy Bear" is a Polish disco song performed by various artists, which is one of the biggest music hits of the early 90's of the XX century. "Miraculous Parents I Have" is a song by Urszula Sipińska from 1988 and "Szła elfeczka do laseczka" is of course a clear reference to the Polish feast song ...... "The girl was walking to the girl's cane". All these songs are connected by the fact that they often resound at Polish weddings. In the village of Biały Sad in Dziki Gon, we meet a peasant called Borina. This is, of course, a reference to the protagonist of Władysław Reymont's novel "Chłopi" ("Peasants"). The figure of Guślarz himself is a cultural reference. This is our native equivalent of a shaman and a witch doctor. Guslarz is a person who makes gouache, i.e. simple and familiar rural magic. The word itself has existed since the Christianization of our country, but according to the Slavist Alexander Brückner it was only Mickiewicz who popularized it in his drama. Olgierd von Everec, the hero of the supplement, is a Redan nobleman and a leader of a company of robbers. He wears a nobleman's dress, is dressed in the county council, has swords at his side, shaved hair on his head, a moustache and a distinct scar, and expensive signet rings on his fingers. Doesn't he remind us of anyone? Of course - this painting is a painting by Andrzej Kmicic from "The Deluge" by Henryk Sienkiewicz. One cannot forget about the love of Algirdas - Iris. Here we will also find a reference to the "Deluge", because before her marriage to Everec Iris was named Bilewitz, while her beloved Kmicica was Olenka Billewiczówna. In the form of von Everec we can see not only an appeal to Kmicic from "The Deluge". The whole story of the cursed nobleman who signed a cyrograph with the mysterious Mr. Lusterko refers directly to the legend of Mr. Twardowski, who made a similar agreement with the devil. This legend was presented by Adam Mickiewicz in the ballad "Mrs. Twardowska". During our adventures in the addition of Heart of Stone we also find ghosts of members of the von Everec family. Olgierd's brother's name is Witold and grandfather's name is Kiejstut. These are, of course, names that refer to the members of the Gediminovich family, the Lithuanian duke's dynasty, from which Wladyslaw Jagiello also came! Together with the aforementioned Witold, we also visit the wedding in "Hearts of Stone". And not just any of them, because they are full of the atmosphere of traditional Polish feasts and full of references to Stanisław Wyspiański's drama, "Wesele" ("Wedding"). During the journey we can also meet a guard who hums the song "Rains of restlessness", a musical motif from the series "Czterej Pancerni i Pies" (Four Armored and a Dog). Another independent hero, marked as an old man, hums the song "Happy is the life of an old man", performed in reality by "Kabaret Starszych Panów" (Cabaret of Older Men). In Novigrad you can also come across a beggar who screams "Respect for the people of Wiedźminie Street" with a characteristic pathos in his voice, which is a clear reference to the song "Respect for the people of the street" by Slums Attack, a band co-created by rapper Peja. Many other minor references can also be found on the information boards. It is worth quoting references to the film Teddy Bear by Stanisław Bareja and the famous monologue by Wacław Jarząbek to the wardrobe. In The Witcher, on the board in Oxenfurt, we find an announcement starting with a sentence: "I, Jarząbek Vaclav, would like to warmly thank our King Radowid for the dissolution of the Oxenfurt Academy.
      As you can see, not everything is a fantasy.

      The Witcher III's combat actually takes strategy. You need to prepare for each fight, brewing potions and fortifying your gear to suit your liking, and utilizing the options you have to exploit the weakness of each monster you fight. If you don't do that, you will keep losing.
      AC: Odyssey is just another microtransaction-filled open world button masher like Shadow of War (which doesn't have microtransactions anymore :D) without the interesting abilities, great animations, good ragdoll physics and epic executions.
      Odyssey is like a 6/10.
      The Witcher III is like a freaking 9.5/10.

    • @lightyagami8645

      I completed whole witcher 3 without brewing too much potions it's very simple , you just most of times can't die against human and it's pretty easy with no interesting combos or it's easy to me becuase I played bloodbourne right before I played witcher 3 . Witcher 3 didn't require any strategy you will obviously do better with potions
      In oddyssey you actually have to make a strategy you either go stealthy or go to combat straight , you can't button mash in oddyssey anyways becuase they would kill you in like 10 seconds . Oddyssey simply gives the player more options in combat than witcher 3 do , like first is stealth , then there is a wheel of skills that you have to work on , like what would you do have skills that help in stealth on both of your wheel , have agressive skills on one and stealthy on another , or have meme skills like Spartan kick . Then we go go ranged combat in which it isn't even a trainer that oddyssey have 100 times better ranged combat like in witcher 3 crossbow do little damage , and you can't attack anyone by crossbow by one goddamn button but in oddyssey it's far more complicated in oddyssey and it have far more effect on your gameplay . Oddyssey defenitlry have better animations than witcher 3
      Oddyssey skill tree is essential to the game itself while witcher's one isn't essential for you it feels just optional while oddyssey have more and better abilities as well
      Button mashing might work in witcher 3 but it as hell wouldn't work in oddyssey normal mode
      Oddyssey is a 8/10
      Witcher 3 is a 9.5 out of 10 ( due to story , characters e.t.c )
