Throwback to the offseason when Troy Watson (Blue Jays MiLB) and Bradford Webb (Free Agent) threw a velo off against each other. How hard are you throwing in bullpens vs in games?
Mmkay, mmkay, there you go baby, there you go. That's it right there baby, that's it right there. Cmon now, cmon baby, that's what I'm talking about. That's it right there. There it is.
What goes into why these guys are not in a rotation? I feel like it's a question that probably doesn't have just one answer. When you have velo up to 100 MPH, does the club want them to gain more movement or control? Is it more of an off speed pitch? When you have someone come in like this with as much talent as they have, what do you as instructors work on in sessions?
This isn't the year 2000 anymore. Throwing in the high 90s is far more common than it used to be. So it could be any number of factors, but those factors are driven by more competition. You can't just throw 98 and be picked up anymore. You have to throw 98 and have good movement, good accuracy, good perceived velo, etc. Guys can lack in categories as long as they make up for the deficit in other ways, but there are far more guys out there today who have it all. Look how hard this guy is working to throw 95. The other guy exerts less effort and gets more velo. There are guys who look far more relaxed than that dude and they throw 96-99.
Besides, most of those pitches thrown, weren't strikes. I don't care how hard you throw, if you don't throw strikes you're useless until you can. In another year, they'll both need "The Tommy."
you only see a few pitches. its possible they can't really maintain it for several innings and locate effectively. It's like lifting weights, your max-out number isn't what you normally do. His average fastball could be 4mph slower than what you see here, plus maybe he can't throw strikes worth a shit
I wish you could overlay both the tracking systems on the screen so we could see them both instead of just pointing to a screen we can't see. But still a great video!
Is this being measured at the plate or out of the hand? If it’s out of the hand, they arent throwing any harder than pitchers 20 years ago. If it’s 100 at the plate, then we can talk.
Nobody wants to mention this for some reason. I guess so we can all ignore the truth and hype up arms like this compared to the guys from the past. Truthfully very few people even know they changed how it’s recorded so maybe it’s that.
Do you mind answering these quick questions guys? ..... How long are your/those guy's arms and how long are their fingers or how big are their hands? Just wondering if arm length and and finger/hand length is key to be able to throw that fast and if I'm screwed with bad genetics.
Arm length is part of it; the rest really isn't going to affect it that much. If you're 5'10 with a 6'3 wing span, that's definitely better than a 6'3 guy with a 5'8 wingspan.
finger size does affect the movement you can get. for example pedro martinez had long fingers thats why at 5'10 he had sick movement on his changeups and curves.
The guy in the blue needs to join the MLB as soon as he learns change ups, sliders, curves at least. You got to know how to at least throw 5 different kinds of pitches with 2 kinds of fastballs. He needs to learn how to throw wind up pitches. He's only been throwing from a stretch position for like when a runner is on base.
guess its "velo day"...I also guess that latest scientific breakthroughs did show that oopmhing a few during normal scheduled bullpen sessions is not the way to go anymore.... no. its better to have a pure velo session to go all out for 20-30 pitches and call it a day. it also seems to be great to have all kinds of wacky body movement , then come to a complete stillstand to only re-introduce additional movement. but ok. whatever helps the young guns to get into their groove I suppose. I just wish we had the same acces to analytics, biomechanics and "science" way back when I played. and all the mistakes we made in our throwing schedules.... makes you wonder what would have been possible. I am just a sour old dog howlin at the moon
Sure - until arms break. Happy to see they are focused on mph and at the same time not looking at the stress on arm telemetry. These guys are hacks related to the physiology of body mechanics and when arms will break down. Sorry - these “coaches” are clowns unless they are getting certified by Greg Rose at TPI (OnbaseU).

3 miles less in bullpen
I hear every inch shorter the shorts = 5mph
😂
😂😂😂😂😂
Speed balls
Even when he throws a strike, it’s a balls
Exactly. Remember they are called SHORTS
I love the reactions in the back😂
The 100 was where I kept waiting for it.
100.2 on trackman.
No numbers don't change to the new anything😮. 100 is 100
These guys got some insane talent!!!

Blue shirt is calm and cool. Red shirt is blowing himself when he leaves
What is Troy’s wingspan? It’s crazy he throws so hard with that frame. He’s like Pedro Martinez

The worst out pitcher is the loudest 🤣😭🤣 the Murica way 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Blue shirt is legit
respect to the catcher
Dude in the blue shirt is super consistent. Holy fastball Batman.

I see TJS in all thier futures
anyone who throws cheddar is bound to get it dummy, clearly u throw 70pooh
He got some heat 🔥

Yes that’s a huge factor…
It’s always at the hand now. Nolan Ryan used to get almost 100 at the plate. You do the math.
whatever makes you feel better old man
@@Beenhereawhile1001 correct comment.
This catcher wanted to shoot both of them that whole time
Just take the hat off bro. Or turn it around so it stays on. Please
Crazy velo. Who these guys with?
Troy Watson (Blue Jays MiLB) and Bradford Webb (Free Agent)
Seems to be a lot of guys can throw 95-100, but the special ones have control.

Blue shirt has a fuckin laser rocket arm!...damn😮
Dawg the red guy is only like 2-3mph behind him
And better form
This is some of the cutest stuff I have ever seen

He's currently in Triple A with the Blue Jays.
Webb has some fantastic hair
Every ball player rhese days seems to have hair like a NC squat truck owner
i didnt know tommy john had a scent
95,98,100 they all would knock you the heck out.
guy in blue a monster.
snowball fight with these guys is not going to be fun 😂😂😂

Isn’t that a balk!?!? That thing the guy in red does before his delivery…..
teammates make us better
That Troy is nasty nasty
Catcher's a lil... Limp-wristed, lol.
WITHOUT CLEATS WTF 🔥🔥
It's almost impossible to throw More than 110mph mechanically And physically
..
no
I look at the guy in red with this weird wind up. If he doesn't clean it up there will be stolen bases in his future.
His arm won’t last long
They’re trying their best to make it to the fastest pitches as possible as they can and I don’t think that’s how pitchers work😅
the new way to hae TJ surgery more like it
🤔
Training the next generation of throwers. After watching this, it’s honestly a shock that the injury rates among pitchers are what they are.
Just get TJ & add a few mph. DeGrom about to come back from second TJ surgery
@@SleepyJoesDiaper 🙄 Brilliant….
Too bad this stuff wasn’t around back when…….
Your career would have likely been shorter.
Yeah, guys in shorts after a few beers throwing 100. Uhh yeah. Keep dreaming
빨간애가 템포 다잡아먹잖아
Cocky dude should maybe not wear a hat

This is regulated and worked into a regime. Keep your armchair advice and blatant shilling to yourself.
Thank you. I see these videos and it’s not hard to figure out why the elbow and shoulder injury rates are sky high…
Lmao.. What a tool 🤣🤣
