I had a hunch this one might not be your fav, and honestly am still a little surprised by how much I love it. It's essentially themeless, and more and more having some sort of tie in between theme and mechanisms is pretty key for me. And like you said the iconography is such a huge hurdle, but the puzzle is so satisfying to me even as I look up every other card constantly. I got a little plano box to organize all the bits, so part of what I love is that I can just get it out of the box and playable in about 5 minutes max, and it's almost always under an hour.
Glad to see the Uwe series continue! I've been on a real Uwe buying kick lately, bad for my wallet, but great for my table. Your playthroughs have been so helpful.

Great playthrough and review! I am quite fond of Uwe games but mostly due to watching others play lol. I do agree that a bit more rainbow and less mustard would make the thinking less depressing 😅

Maybe the game appeals more to us males 😉 I have seen a couple reviews from male reviewers, calling Oranienburger Kanal one of Uwe’s finest games to date! Though I do see the problem with iconography.
It will be republished in October by another publisher, under the name Kanal. And it’s a must buy for me 😊 Thanks for uploading and your honest opinion.

Thank you so much for watching! Yes I have heard mostly very very positive things about the game so I had very high hopes! Maybe I'd put it on a pedestal which is why is fell a little flat for me. It is definitely good just didn't knock my socks off. Good to know the reprint isn't that far away!
