- In this episode, we dive into the aftermath of our last race where Charlie Brown's motor blew up in the burnout box! Brad tears the engine apart to find a rod completely destroyed, blowing through the oil pan and causing major damage. But it's not over yet!

It cost money to fix it... Why put all that money in labor fixing it and welding it as a spare when it could be cheaper to just get a different block and not have all those man hours into fixing it... I promise Tony isn't a 25 an hour type worker😂

The first thing you need to consider is what class of racing you want to compete in. Why spend the big dollars on a 959, because the car and chassis is probably not competitive in classes where that motor would be needed. It looked like that block was doing fine before a rod broke. I seem to recall that when it broke you mentioned those rods had about a hundred passes on them. With that stroke and nitrous, that is pushing life expectancy. Those motors need maintenance and components replaced, or bad things happen. The faster you go, the more dollars you spend.

What I am saying is if you had the opportunity and wherewithal to pull off a 959 inch motor with a bottle of spray per run, wouldn't you do it too? These guys have enough money to run twin turbo anything like everyone else. Id much rather see the dentist office open and spray the daylights out of whatever you got than to sit home and poke a keyboard and tell us how to do it.

Whatever you got let's go. I race lowly stock block Oldsmobile stuff where I make about 650hp n/a and that's all I can muster. I'm absolutely ready to watch my tune up but hit it with a 300hp kit. I'm ready for all the carnage. Don't matter what you are racing, try your best and do what you can do.
Far as my Oldsmobile stuff I have 12 stock blocks ready to go when I break the one I got. I have 5 running engines not in vehicles. My "big" motor probably won't get spray, I'll keep it for normally aspirated play around stuff. The rest are about to get hit hard with a cross plate and 300+ extra oxygen and fuel for a rear bumper dragging good time.
Let's all just have fun doing what we love and want to do. Let's all stay positive and win at life instead of worrying about what happened at that presidential debate I just watched. It's 11:36pm eastern time on Tuesday Sept 10. My daddy died awhile ago but his birthday was Saturday the 7th. Trying to remember him and forget the shit show our country has become in the last few years.
Let's all concentrate on making this country great again, one pass at a time. Nitrous, turbos, or pro-charger....they all say freedom to me!
You also have to think if they put a big motor in it they might be able to run it at 75-80% instead of 130% and stuff lives alot longer being ran at 80% than 130%
Holy shit that's a Fulton engine wow that explains a lot that's the piece of the puzzle I was missing now I know why that engine runs like a scalded dog!

People don't realize a 959 is 100k dollars , not to mention all the chassic work it would take to make it fit and work.
You can get them cheaper fs there is a couple for sale in the 40-60k range which is still a lot. And then you’re getting one that ain’t that nice but even then you’re buying a piece that’s beat up but you don’t need the nicest motor for no prep.
Fix it and look around a little bit and see what's out there. Heck, call Uncle Bob. See what he may have available or what he thinks. Or Steve Morrison. Man, he builds some bad azz motors. Or even Texas speed shop. I think it would be less pressure on you and you can finish the season. And that gives you time to pick what path you want to take.

Dr. was like the crank,that’s just a service bruise and looks fine. The cracks in block look fairly serious but the Dr. said I think it can be fixed with a little in office grinding and welding that is a out patient procedure and also fix the minor little rod pop on oil pan ledge that’s no problem. Pretty decent prognosis in my opinion! Keep Charlie eating healthy he’s looking fit!
We know this team is only getting faster either fixed or new my money is on Charlie B.

Anything can be repaired depending on what you know and your skills!
Too much repair starts causing hard spots in the block. Would have to heat treat the block after. Skills are not just in the hands of the weldor, most of the skill is in his head, knowledge of metals.

Was the nitrous active during the burnout? It had blue flames bellowing long before the rod slung is why I ask but wonder if it would have blown up any other time anyway?
We had a leaky solenoid. Nitrous was off.
