      I had a similar dilemma but with the Emit 10 and Lumina 1. I decided on the Lumina 1 as it was for mostly TV watching. My hearing isn’t great so I needed clarity over a softer presentation. Plus the Lumina’s look amazing and feature nicely in our living room.

      mmm, everything scales with better gear it's just a matter of how it scales I suppose. Like the Elac needs the better gear to sound it's best while the Dynaudio is more forgiving but they both sound great with better gear.

    I have got the Emit 30's i think they are great speakers,
    through my Hegel H120 they sound smooth with a huge amount of bass which is very surprising for their size.
    At 87db efficiency they are not very sensitive speakers so they do need a fair bit of power to sound at their best.

    • @jonberg469
      @jonberg469 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have 80w per channel monoblocks but good current. Do you think I’ll be ok with the 30s? I want the 50s but the tweeter sits way higher and the specs imply it’s actually less sensitive then the 30s

    • @hclandscapes
      @hclandscapes 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jonberg469 if you have monoblocks then you should be ok, what amplifier do you have?
      My H120 does a pretty good job but the bass becomes a little lose when turned up,
      The Hegel H190 did a much better job but i didn't want to spend 3x the cost of my speakers on an amplifier im now considering the new NAD C399 as it has more power and at a more affordable price.
      Dynaudio's need power to sound at there best and the 50's are massive speakers so you would probably need loads of power to run them properly.

      @@jonberg469 yeah the 50's are massive speakers,
      i have been really impressed with the output on my 30's for a small speaker they fill my 18 square meter room easily.

    I compared those briefly in the store with the Emit 20 and Emit 30. The Emit 10 sounded the most neutral of the three (the bigger models had a more U-shaped curve slightly suppressing the mid-range) and their balanced presentation reminded me of the LS50 Meta. Of course, the Emit 20 and 30 sounded more impressive but I think the little ones are more honest. The difference in tonality between the Emit 10 and the Emit 20/30 surprised me.

      @@nc3419 Emit 10 responds very differently, with different amps. With Audiolab6000 it was very sparkly, detailed, spacious. But lacked presence, oomph. With Rotel a11 there is body and presence, but less sparkle and smaller sound stage. I want to try adding a power amp to see how much headroom can be added. If it doesn’t work, will look for floorsranders from q acoustics or arendal.

    • @nc3419
      @nc3419 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@gokhanersan8561 Thanks. I guess I will find out soon enough how they perform on my equipment. Will try them on both a hegel h160 as well as a Keces e40. If the Keces drives them well enough that would be nice even though the opinion on Dyns is they like more power, as some speaker lines seem to prefer as well.
      Another competing line I have considered is Acoustic Energy both the AE100 MKII and the AE300. Among the three I suppose the biggest difference as one moves up a speaker line is resolution, but many seem to maintain an overall sound characteristic. For the price i paid for the Emit 10s, if they fall somewhere in between but still compete or beat out the AE100s, they could be a good option. Already expecting the Dyns to be not as dynamic as say Monitor Audio or Focal but I am preferring a bit softer presentation nowadays. Hopefully they outperform my Triangle Zetas which have been a really good budget performer.

  • @nc3419
    @nc3419 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm considering trying the new Emit 10s becasue they are the size I want. I have listened to Silver 100s, alot to like but ultimately a bit fatiguing, they throw everything at you all at once. I have Focal 807Ws and Triangle Zetas. While the 807Ws are superior in every way, the small Triangles do similar to what they do with a softer mid presence which I am liking even if attack isn't class leading. Both are great, separation is very good in both and the little budget Zetas surprise with a very dimensional depth of stage even if voices aren't as crisp as the 807ws, Silver 100s, etc. I think my tastes have changes and even higher ended speakers don't necessarily give me a more musical experience because of tradeoffs.
    I am thinking if the new Emit 10s give somewhere in between the ones I own, say compared to the Zetas, a more refined treble with at least as much detail but less sibilance and glare in the uper mids/highs, it would be a good choice. I think the Emits will give more bass and midbass, mids should be similar if not fuller sounding and what I'd like to know is your impression of "stage depth and instrument separation". If the stage is relatively more 3D rather than flat and if instrument separation is a standout. Some have stated it could get muddled with complex music at louder levels but I don''t crank my tunes anymore. Then it could be a good choice. Especially if voices, piano, strings and acoustic sounds natural.
    I did try Dali Menuet SEs at nearly triple the price and while they performed well in some areas, they gave up alot of detail, too much for that resolution and though very smooth with little glare, they were also 4 ohms (actually drops to 3.5 ohms) were rather hard to drive, sounded smaller (expected) but good in what they could do...yes, they were gorgeous.
    I have found I could give up absolute resolution, perhaps a bit of detail too for a good soundstage, width, depth and height without instruments sounding stretched out/unnatural (ex Borea series, Focal V series) while having good instrument separation and depth to the stage with openness. If you ever get a chance to listen to a pair of Zetas or the Color series, you'd hear what I mean, even though their not as palpable in mid richness as some speakers.
    Any thoughts appreciated by anyone.

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      dynaudio is a popular brand, I'd try to demo the emit 10 if you can. It's treble is pretty easy on the ears but still very open sounding.

    • @nc3419
      @nc3419 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@NemoPropaganda Played the Emit 10s today and though not broken in, I was surprised I liked what I heard more than I had to adjust to. Your review seems pretty spot on and in comparison to my other two speakers, it still does a good job. It's more refined than the Zetas and the mids are a bit fuller but there is less low level detail in direct comparison. What the Emit 10s do I wanted is control sibilance and glare very well. Resolution is more or less similar, both are a good listen but I am liking the fullness of the mids for a small speaker.
      As compared to Focal 807Ws, the Focals do everything better to a degree but the Emits don't embarrass themselves. I find them better than Dali Oberon 1s as well.
      If I had to make a tradeoff, I'd give up some of that bass bloom for a bit more high end resolution and detail to make it perfectly balanced for me. But its' still a budget speaker that doesn't sound budget or small and that's in a 25 sq meter room. In fairness, I have a hegel h160 driving it. I will try my 50 watt amp in a few days to see what I give up. I will also try the port bungs.
      One thing to note, on a music track with some bass, it made the end of my adjustable blue jeans cable rattle on both speakers. I tightened them down and the rattling was gone but I noticed more vibration on the walls of the speakers than others I have tried. I think thicker MDF or HDF if not more insulation, bracing, etc., could help that issue, but they are heavy enough as it is.
      I got them in white at $200 off, otherwise I don't know if I would have bought at full retail as used prices seem to drop more for intro Dyns than some other brands. So many other speakers to consider too.
      The white version does have some visual pop with the black cover but the vinyl wrap is nothing to write home about. Wheter it discolors over time is a potential issue.
      I guess, moving up the line gives tighter bass, more resolution and more details, perhaps and better build quality but the sound signature is supposed to be similar. Don't know if I will keep them for sure but for my needs, they aren't bad at all and relatively compact.
      Just an FYI, Heco in the US are running a 25% off sale and given that heco ceylon Revolution 3 has gotten some good press, it could be the speaker to beat at its' sale price though it isn't a small speaker.
      Also, Focal Chorus 806 can now be had for under $600 a pair.

      With the Evoke series, you are paying more for a better cabinet and crossover network. They do share the tweeter and midbass driver. Similar sound characteristics at low to mid volume range. The Emit is a real value. I've heard both and note the Evokes do sound more refined at higher volumes (which I do not listen to music loud), therefore, I cannot justify the cost to go from $1,000 up to $2,400 here in the U.S.

    I have Emit 10s, and want a bigger sound. Should I add a power amp to my Rotel a11 to make Emits sound bigger; or should replace Emits with Burchardts to go bigger? Those are the two options within my budget.

    • @NemoPropaganda
      @NemoPropaganda  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you're looking for a bigger sense of scale try pulling the speakers out into the room a bit more (like 2ft off the back wall) Otherwise yes S400 will sound bigger, or Special 40. As far as adding a power amp, I'd try and borrow one from a friend if you can, dynaudio can be power hungry, I'm just not sure how much it will change the sound.
