Thank you for your video ! I just ordered this one and the tubes set as well :) I love this era of 1900' and Schmincke, so that was an easy decision to buy it ^^ For the 4 colors we can add, I will refer to a watercolor manual I have from 1885, author is Gaston Gerard. If anyone is interested I can share here the colors it suggests.
@@suzisandpiper my post got erased it seems... so, here is the list from the Traité pratique d'aquarelle : yellow ochre, Roman ochre, cadmium, Indian yellow, indigo, French ultramarine, cobalt blue, mineral blue (teal?), vermillon, crimson laque, madder brown, burnt sienna, emerald green, ivory black. I have posted on my channel community on YT the image of the palette :)

@irishelinac thanks so much for sharing, I shared a link to your community post in my community posts, hope that is okay. That's really a historical gem. Also thanks for the translation, some names I know in French but not all (wanted to learn French in school but my parents forbade that sadly). Good question what mineral blue could be. I know that cobalt blue and Prussian blue already existed at that time, but normally they were declared that way. Couldn't really find any information about that at the moment, maybe if I dig deeper.
Schmincke half pans are a bit wider than standard half pans, you can fit normal ones down the middle and fill them with tube paint. Winsor and Newton pans and Daler-Rowney definitely fit in the middle.
@@kjf5681Can understand that, I just didn't like the tube set boxes so much, so I've bought the cochineal extra 😊 did a video about the cochineal with modern comparisons and the history 💜
@@arsinoe8336 the colours in the tube set are beautiful. I was gifted the set. I think I’m going to do a Gris, and fill the half pans and stick them with putty to the bottom of the palette so I can put other colours in. Then store the tube insert in the card box it came in.
@@suzisandpiper Yes I agree the colors are beautiful. I already owned most of them and I was never use paints fresh out of the tube that's why I stuck to the pan sets. Awesome that you got it as a gift. The whole retro line is so beautiful. Absolutely love the design. I've bought the cochineal red extra, which is included in the tube set. I have a video about the color and the history, if you haven't seen it and also about Payne's grey, because the genuine version was made with cochineal red. (Both in the pigments and color family playlist)
Oh, that bijou box is beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Melissa 💜
