Hi long time no video!
I found the song, Happy Pills, on Spotify a few weeks ago and really really wanted to animate my boy Jackal to it for fun. His ref:

He's crazy, but I absolutely adore him either way ;v; Except, I drew him as a dog instead, just to make my life a bit easier. The cheetah's name is Ino, and she belongs to my friend Ara.
While I could have done the 'Happy Pills' meme, I wanted to do my own interpretation and wasn't aware there WAS a meme until I finished sketching my rough draft/clean storyboard. This is why it's under a different title, b/c the idea is too different for it to be called that.
Plus, a meme is considered "original" based off the content, not because you used a song that isn't even yours to begin with. Lmao

I'm adding an additional explanation for those who are still not convinced:

The short answer is that I originally was going to call it Happy Pills based off the song title. However, a lot of the work that went into the meme (the planning and conceptual work) was all done before I realized another already existed with the same song. I was under the impression that what I was doing was original - and it was!
As much as I didn't want to, I changed the name of my meme to reflect that what I did was not the same. I'm not claiming I made the 'original Happy Pills meme', I'm acknowledging that I'm not the first, but I'm also acknowledging my ideas as their own and as mine. The point of a meme is to redo what someone else did, but it wouldn't have made sense if I called it Happy Pills when the content in this video in no way follows what the original outlined.
By calling it original, I'm giving people the opportunity to redo what I did if they like and to give myself credit where credit is due.
Either way, I hope you enjoy! Sorry for not uploading in awhile, I have a lot of academic work this year.

My meme isn't original because I extended the song (although in one way it does make it partially different) but it's original because the content / theme / repeating patterns are its own thing.
The song belongs to nobody here, so I just want you to rethink your opinion had I used a different audio track. You would accept it as original, even though very little has changed.

As for the title / originality (which is explained in the description), this video takes no inspiration from the original 'Happy Pills' meme. They use the same song, yes, but the content / ideas in the two videos are far too different to be labeled the same. Thanks for understanding, reading and watching!

For the people who are saying, "This isn't original," it actually is. Yes, there is an animation meme with the same song, but the actual animation is not related to what you all call, "the original" animation meme. There can be multiple original animation memes with the same song. As long as the animation isn't related to the other animation memes, then it's considered original.
This is very true. An original animation just has to feature your own content, like, if you used specific poses that go to the beat. If it is different from all of the other animation memes, then you can title it as *"original."* The only reason you wouldn't title it original, is if you are following an animation trend, that features the same song and expressions/poses. That is where you *don't* put original. In your video, you would then put who made the original meme, and maybe you might put who inspired you. Thank you for clarifying this to all of those who didn't understand, _Venûs_

Yeah, people base it off the song all the time, and I think that's ridiculous. If the animation is unique with different movements of its own and style, then it is original.
Plus, the song is obviously extended vs the other Happy Pills meme, but even so, it's still original.

The eyes were drawn with a multitude of colors, then in AE, I threw a hue change effect to get the rotation that you see ^^

How is it different? It's the same song. Also, memes don't have to follow a script based on the "original" version. On one hand, it is original because the poses/animation used is unique but on the other it isn't because it's the same song. Either way, it's amazing and that's all that matters (:
