- Tom Baker's guest appearance on the UK version of the QVC home-shopping network in February 2001, during an evening featuring "Doctor Who" memorabilia.
I've gotten rid of most of the tat-selling bits, and kept it to just the interesting parts with Tom Baker talking Who. In this clip he discusses how he became the Doctor, the less-than-stellar reception of the Paul McGann TV movie, the Daleks and Anthony Hopkins, frightened children and their grannies' bosoms, K-9 and John Leeson, a "Doctor Who" case for his mobile phone, lots of girls, and his Doctor's famous scarf.
Historian's note: this took place at about the midpoint of the gap between the 1996 Fox TV movie and the 2005 "Doctor Who" revival.
Special thanks to the mysterious unnamed person who originally recorded the entire broadcast and posted it to the Internet years ago.
Tom is awesome and an international treasure! We still adore his Doctor so much in America. For us in the United States Tom Baker is still THE DOCTOR......the definite article you might say!

LOL at 6 minutes Tom says he's going to have a Doctor Who telephone and a Dalek ring tone! He's just so cool. But I'm amazed that he's actualy so knoledgeable about Doctor Who in this, he usualy pretends he doesn't remember all that much but here he seems to know alot more about it all that he usualy lets on.
Tom was truly the ONLY Doctor. I still enjoy watching his episodes.

Awful presenter who I think is still on QVC 21 years later but Yes Tom Baker was the best Dr Who for sure. He recorded his voice for BT's text to voice service years ago but guess this has now been removed
He was a desperate presenter then, and 20 years on he remains one.
Thanks for posting this. It reminds me of Tom baker's brilliant run as the Dr. Today Dr Who is utter crap. Bad writing, bad acting. Absolutely boring.
