Fully agree, comfort is a must. Handbags are for the backs before the eyes. And generally we learn the lesson only when we become olders. When I think of all non confortable items I bought when I was younger, it’s terrible 😅

Style definitely evolves over time as we age. A few years back I loved mini bags - discovering them was a game changer and I loved being hands free, especially during the COVID pandemic. But by now I’ve sold all my mini bags off and the smallest I actually use is a small tote; it helps me carry everything without being too pared down. Other things that break the deal for me nowadays: zippers, purely cross body strap bags, excessive weight (learned this the hard way), vertical depth (as opposed to horizontal length), and boring colors. It’s such a different me nowadays!
Hi Hannah, I agreed with almost every category you discussed here. I’ve learned that just because a handbag looks pretty or interesting on display, and catches my eye, it doesn’t mean that I should take it home, that it will be wearable. In reality, there are only a limited amount of styles and colors that I feel are truly usable, although I still enjoy seeing these artistic bags with their “fatal flaws”. Of course the design houses are going to present us with as many color options as possible - they are simply trying to sell more! I am reminded of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, who mostly carried two handbags, both black. And she looked so elegant and polished. No offense intended to anyone who enjoys brightly colored handbags 😊

Great video and I’m totally agreed with you. I found that purely shoulder & top handle only don’t work for me. I also don’t like bag with full chain crossbody strap. It’s uncomfortable and painful after a while. I need either a crossbody bag or crossbody with a combo of a top handle.
Hi Hannah! This is such a great video ❤. I thought I couldn’t do shoulder bags but it turned out I could (at least in the summer 😂) because I sweat easily and shoulder bags are much easier to use. I also once bought a mini bag that couldn’t fit my phone (but the silhouette was exactly what I wanted) and I thought it would be fine since I hold my phone in my hand a lot…Not good 😅 because I realized I also wear pants that don’t have pockets for me to put my phone. Lesson learned…No more bags that can’t fit my phone lol.

You are so right about top handle bags. It isn't practical for someone on the go. I really wish I had the speedy B instead of the Speedy 30 for that exact reason. I rather have the option to wear my bags in multiple ways.Great video as always
Would you ever sell your Speedy and get the Speedy B instead? I had the Speedy 25 at first and then let it go and eventually got the Speedy B 25 which works so much better for me.

Hello: I just watched your video for information and you made a comment about Patent. Thought I would give you my experience. I have had horses for 30 years and have 2 pairs of riding boots in Patent. One pair I ride with every day and a good pair for lessons and showing. The pair I ride with everyday are probably 7 years old. They get very dirty as you can imagine. I clean them with a sponge and water to help with not ruining the zipper with product and when I want to shine them for a show I polish with pledge spray and buff with a rag. Patent wears like iron…..do not be afraid…❤
Ohh amazing that you own horses!!! I rode and took care of horses in college and it’s a memory I hold dear. As for the patent leather, thank you for letting me know. I scratched up a few of my old patent leather high heels and I assumed the same could easily happen to patent bags. Good to know your riding boots are still in great shape!

But definitely avoid having it in contact with oil based materials and not letting it touching any other leather bags when stored in wardrobe otherwise color transfer might happen. Otherwise, i really think patent is not a dealbreaker for me. But an advantage because preloved market usually price patent leather at a lower price point and i feel like stealing haha
Same - no heavy bags and i like to cross carry my bags. No mini bags too. I need my glasses. Grey doesnt work on my asian tanned skin and I'm hoping Parisa Wang will have that Grace bag in other colours cuz it's so functional and pretty.

But last year, I purchased a white and gold Deauville tote and an organizer insert (thank you for inspo) and love everything about it except the drop on the top handle. Had I purchased the larger size (like yours), it would be more roomy/comfortable. So, I've added a larger (darker color) Deauville to my short list. One bag I am not likely to buy is a bucket bag. The shape and width do not suit my body.

Sweetheart there is no difference between the CC’s buckle on the *gtdupe* and real one. You’re seeing things that aren’t there. If a professional came in and told you the CC was a real, you’d probably agree.

No big bags, totes, chain straps, micro bags. Pops of color can work for me. Summer is yellow. Winter is light blue.

I would add my no-buys include bags with brand logos, large brand designs (Gucci). Bags that don't fit an iPad mini. Not fond of bucket bags. Since I'm five feet short I'm NOT into this season's large slouchy totes or satchels.

Now that I'm "older," I need a bag that can hold my reading glasses, distance glasses, sun glasses, key fob (which are always so huge), small wallet, small cosmetic bag for whatever, iPhone Pro Max. So basically, I need a shopping bag 😂 MZ Wallace bags are great, inexpensive, utilitarian, no worries someone will snatch and grab it from your person. But I still love my luxury handbags of medium size because I love the leathers.
YES!! Our styles and needs evolve over time! I always carried big totes when my kids were babies since I had to carry so much - snacks, diapers, wipes etc. and then as they got older, I enjoyed the freedom of small crossbody bags. Hello. Heavy bags are not for me. I sold most of my vintage Chloe bags for that reason. I don’t like chains either. Fleuron has a new light pink color I love on the Hortensia and Swann bags, it’s called ‘rose ballet’.
Totally agree with everything here. I don’t know how some may feel about my comment; but I also feel like some bags should be age appropriate. Now I am older I have given some of my handbags to my daughter in law. But I don’t know some people look fabulous no matter what bag they wear or color.
mine is anything multicolor and that includes it being black and white. my brain freezes and I cant style it. it needs to be one solid color. as much as I love the chanel oreo 19 and their houndstooth I cannot. and I'm glad I did not make those costly mistakes.

I have young kids so I'm thinking it might suit my current lifestyle better since it has a strap and is less bulky than the Birkin 30. What do you recommend between B30 and K28 retourne for the colour and leather?
For me it's the mini totes that horizontal (e.g fendi mini sunshine tote or the bulgari serpantine tote). they feel odd to carrry around top handle only and i don't like wearing them cross body. Also this is more of a color. For all the color in my wardrobe, I really don't like/wear canary yellow.
For me it’s no more mini bags. I’m keeping the ones I have,but won’t add more. ,I just dislike having to put my stuff a certain way for it to fit. I’m truly a medium bag lover. There was a time where these luxury shopping influencers were doing all sorts of unboxing videos for the past year it’s just mostly letting go, why I’m letting go types of video. Time changes person evolves priority changes. Should always keep a minimal set of bags which can be used at all times. This luxury unboxings and related videos doesn’t interest anymore.
To be fair, I’ve been letting go of bags here and there consistently for all 5 years of my channel’s existence. I think I’ve always been someone who tries to curate what works for me and I don’t get very attached to my items, so if they don’t serve a purpose, they go bye bye. This is not a new thing for me but I understand there may be a trend more widely across other TH-camrs.
Haha yes in some of the older video clips I was filming at night with lamp light so everything looked darker, plus if I filmed in the summer, I could’ve been suntanned. We travel a lot and my skin tone changes depending on how baked I get by the sun. 😂

Hello. Heavy bags are not for me. I sold most of my vintage Chloe bags for that reason. I don’t like chains either. Fleuron has a new light pink color I love on the Hortensia and Swann bags, it’s called ‘rose ballet’.
Oh yes, Chloe bags can be quite heavy!! I saw the new lighter pink from Fleuron. Very pretty.

Totally agree with everything here. I don’t know how some may feel about my comment; but I also feel like some bags should be age appropriate. Now I am older I have given some of my handbags to my daughter in law. But I don’t know some people look fabulous no matter what bag they wear or color.
Totally understand what you mean. I think with age comes an evolved style and that means items that once worked for us, may not work in the future.
mine is anything multicolor and that includes it being black and white. my brain freezes and I cant style it. it needs to be one solid color. as much as I love the chanel oreo 19 and their houndstooth I cannot. and I'm glad I did not make those costly mistakes.

Maybe but probably not a big enough difference to make up for the fact that it’s only a top handle style and can be carried only one way. 😬
@hellocatwalkcity I have been waiting for a Birkin 30 in the exact same specs as yours, but I am now considering the Kelly 28 retourne as my SA is offering me the bag in Gold on Gold togo. I have young kids so I'm thinking it might suit my current lifestyle better since it has a strap and is less bulky than the Birkin 30. What do you recommend between B30 and K28 retourne for the colour and leather?

For me it's the mini totes that horizontal (e.g fendi mini sunshine tote or the bulgari serpantine tote). they feel odd to carrry around top handle only and i don't like wearing them cross body.
Also this is more of a color. For all the color in my wardrobe, I really don't like/wear canary yellow.

For me it’s no more mini bags. I’m keeping the ones I have,but won’t add more. ,I just dislike having to put my stuff a certain way for it to fit. I’m truly a medium bag lover. Now I don’t wear my bags crossbody that much, so I don’t go for it. Actually I’m the opposite of you and really appreciate top handle bags, the birkin being my favorite, to me this bag is so easy to use, I like a bag that is super easy to get in and out ( I never close it of course). No grey, no beige bags for me, they don’t work.

It’s so funny because yellow was my favorite color as a teenager. I wore yellow all the time! And now, I just can’t! It’s such a pretty color, but it doesn’t agree with my skin tone. So I get it! Color choice is important!
For bright colors of patterns I will buy SLGs or very small bags. I stick with neutral colors for larger bags. Thanks for sharing.💕
Yup, it’s just less of a commitment when the color comes from smaller items like wallets or key pouches. A full size bag in color is just a bit much for many of us! 😂

Honestly I don’t think I’ve ever used the term “dream bag” bc I don’t think that exists for me. I enjoy bags but at the end of the day, they’re nothing special. 😂 You’re right - sometimes it’s only after we obtain something that we realize it’s not for us. ❤

There was a time where these luxury shopping influencers were doing all sorts of unboxing videos for the past year it’s just mostly letting go, why I’m letting go types of video. Time changes person evolves priority changes. Should always keep a minimal set of bags which can be used at all times. This luxury unboxings and related videos doesn’t interest anymore.
To be fair, I’ve been letting go of bags here and there consistently for all 5 years of my channel’s existence. I think I’ve always been someone who tries to curate what works for me and I don’t get very attached to my items, so if they don’t serve a purpose, they go bye bye. This is not a new thing for me but I understand there may be a trend more widely across other TH-camrs.

Haha yes in some of the older video clips I was filming at night with lamp light so everything looked darker, plus if I filmed in the summer, I could’ve been suntanned. We travel a lot and my skin tone changes depending on how baked I get by the sun. 😂
