This is probably one of the last movies about the hood life and inner-city schools not to feature a hip-hop soundtrack, because in 1987, Hollywood hadn’t yet figured out that cats in the hood were listening to rap. This movie’s 1990s successors (e.g., “Dangerous Minds” and “The Substitute”) are well-known for featuring rap-dominant soundtracks.
I loved this movie when it came out. I loved the soundtrack, this cut most of all. I have become a big fan of Jay Gruska and his work ever since. Many thanks for posting this. The movie was shot both in Oakland and Los Angeles, but mostly in Oakland. Those of us who lived there recognize every location. Thanks again.
It was filmed in Oakland Alameda and parts of Walnut Creek Ca no filming at all in LA. Not one location on this movie looks like LA or So Cal. My brother was an Extra on this movie many guys from the Hood was. Born and Raised in Oakland.
Yeah I dig the part when Rick Latimer was cruising down San Pablo Ave. And seeing some of Downtown Oakland in the distance. Born in Albuquerque New Mexico but moved to Contra Costa County in 1980 grew up in Concord, Martinez, Pleasant Hill, Pacheco and last but not least last house I lived in was in Walnut Creek when my Pops passed on in 94'. Truly without a doubt I miss the days of Old growing up in the San Francisco East Bay Area.
I used to watch this movie all the time in the 80's and the soundtrack is fire the principal will always be my favorite movie of all time.😁😁😁😘😘 No more.
one of my favorite movies and songs from the film. i am trying to find this soundtrack. is it out of print now?. possibly it is buyable on amazon?. i really hope so. also i'm trying to locate a high definition quality version of the final scene in the principal. in which james belushi fights michael wright.
is it weird the production team gave a shout out to the Oakland chapter of the Hells Angel's? please tell me I'm not the only one who noticed that Cuz I was listening to this song groovin out and noticed towards the end of the credit roll lol
He’s The Principal, man!
Im The Principal, Man.
Rick riding off to Living in the line of fire 😎💚
When it comes to great ending credits songs, no decade, and I mean NONE beats the 1980's.
that's why I'm here!
