Pinkpop '93.. my first festival. I only have fragmented memories of it ( wasn't completely sober 😆) , but hearing and seeing this brings those feelings I had then right back. As close as you can get to a time machine.. Thelonious monster were class too.
I thought I was the only one that felt like he had waited his entire life to hear this song. It was lake a friend that I was always waiting for had arrived and I new its story from beginning to end.
Beautiful.Takes me back to the early nineties.I had to study for my final exams and when I took a break,I always watched snippets from Pinkpop on Nederland 3 to ease my mind.
Awesome! Thanks so much for posting. One of my favorite songs of theirs, and a tremendous performance. They were captivating every time I saw them perform.
Lyrics: Well, I wish I had known your name Is it possible that we might have felt the same 'Bout the senselessness within the air Paints its words almost everywhere Now the sun will always shine on this palomine Well, I wish I had known you then Well, who knows I might have been a better friend But now the senselessness within the air Paints its words almost everywhere How come life sometimes makes you feel so scared I know the sun will always shine Yes, the sun will always shine on this palomine Well, even when I think out about The things you used to say out loud Even then I can't say I was prepared To settle down to what you did You made your choice and that was it How come life sometimes makes you feel so scared I know the sun will always shine Yes, the sun will always shine on this palomine
Me too , pinkpop '93, my first festival. I only have a few fragmented memories of it (wasn't totally on this planet) , but hearing and seeing this brings those feelings I had then right back.. As close as you can get to a time machine ❤
Nice dual guitar work. I just rediscovered Bettie Serveert. I listened to them back then. I think Carol seems incredibly cool and sexy because of her talent and her conviction when she's singing. Good lyrics too. Even if she looks like a combination of Maria Bamford and Tom Petty. D'oh.
they gonna do a 20 year anniversary PALOMINE show in september 2011 in paradiso in amsterdam/ netherlands.....they gonna play the whole PALOMINE album !!!!!!
Beautiful woman, beautiful voice, beautiful band. Too bad they didn't catch on big in the states, but I guess most of us Americans have crap taste in music.
jb06dec I don’t think there was a video made for that. It was a one off for the compilation cover album “Wish I Were a Carpenter.” If you liked that album you should listen to “Loungepalooza.” Same idea but covers of 70’s songs by 90’s bands.
and as good as this -- it's a live performance and she pulls a few notes south. Now, we'd probably have to autotune the thing into submission. It's okay to hit a blue note here and there ... it makes things humans ...
Marc Landry - Just destroying the last 25 years would be enough, for it to do to me, I guess...Totally forgot how nice this band/song were. Dimly recall seeing them at Reading, England the same year, and cannot truthfully deny I was under the influence of Carol's still obvious charms...
Brings back some good memories...sigh
Reminds me of being fourteen, saved money from babysitting to buy this CD. And after more than 15 years I still love this song!
ja
echt!!!

Gosh, Carol van Dijk is such a talented and beautiful woman. I love her! Palomine was one of the best albums/songs of the decade.
i am and has always been in love with her!
Kut muziek
Not just decade.
wow. lucky finding this band randomly on youtube. so good and never heard of them before
One lost friend of mine, Inga, showed me this band in 1997 in Arnhem. I love it since then. Thank you Inga, wherever you are :)
I thought I was the only one that felt like he had waited his entire life to hear this song. It was lake a friend that I was always waiting for had arrived and I new its story from beginning to end.
Prachtig nummer, heerlijk die gitaren en zang van Carol!! Betties al jaren topklasse. Goed exportproduct

her voice, and eyes, is/are beautiful
Palomine brings back so many nice memories. The look out at the audience is a reminder of how little fashions have changed pin the last 25yrs.
makes me feel like an old man......remembering the good ole days. Wonderful Band, song etc.....
The 90's were cool, we barely had internet and people had feelings.
Oh yes.
welcome to decadence
so true
so people don't have feelings anymore?
@NaughtyGawd They do,they just claim they don’t because they think it’s cool.
Awesome! Thanks so much for posting. One of my favorite songs of theirs, and a tremendous performance. They were captivating every time I saw them perform.
Prachtig. I was there and in Den Bosch some time before, they were absolutely fantastic. And my team won the league that day :) Memorable Pink Pop
My favourite song by them. :-)
Love this band. Love turning more people on to them. I hear they are still together making music.
Lyrics:
Well, I wish I had known your name
Is it possible that we might have felt the same
'Bout the senselessness within the air
Paints its words almost everywhere
Now the sun will always shine on this palomine
Well, I wish I had known you then
Well, who knows I might have been a better friend
But now the senselessness within the air
Paints its words almost everywhere
How come life sometimes makes you feel so scared
I know the sun will always shine
Yes, the sun will always shine on this palomine
Well, even when I think out about
The things you used to say out loud
Even then I can't say I was prepared
To settle down to what you did
You made your choice and that was it
How come life sometimes makes you feel so scared
I know the sun will always shine
Yes, the sun will always shine on this palomine
Lang geleden kende ik Eelco de Boer. Woonde in Krommenie. Ik kan me voorstellen dat ik met hem naar Bettie Serveert luisterde.
ik was daar dat jaar zag later Carol nog op het terrein lopen gewoon relaxt met mensen praatje maken top!!!!!!!!!
And a little bit later that day, I was born :D (seriously). This is beautiful.

Has anyone seen/heard her cover "For All We Know" by the Carpenters? I have the CD, but does anyone know if there is video of her performing it? Thx.

And a few days later, I graduated high school. LOL

Still got my crush on Carol - this video made it worse...
2006???? this has to be one of the oldest vids on TH-cam
Great band, maybe Dustbunnies is there best cd...
Great performance, great band, hot chick but is she gonna finally give that mic some tongue or what?
Carol van Dyk of indie rock darlings Bettie Serveert tells of "the worst festival you'd ever want to play." Read more at The Worst Gig (WorstGig.com).
Palomine = Pal of mine.
Hup Vites !
Carol sure is a lovely young lady. My kinda chick.
herman is onze vriend
Beste bands van Nederland ? Bettie Serveert, Q'65, Brainbox. (punt)
this video absolutely destroys me
