    I bought my first truck for 60k and worked only days for 6 months, I made 100k and didn’t pay myself, and that allowed me to buy a 2nd truck, and now I’m working on my 3rd truck.. the key to making money is ownership “

  • @mattmenendez721
    @mattmenendez721 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    yeah infrastructure is key. Those tools saved you money between the mechanics shop and the extra job income. They cost as much as a new truck but last a lot longer.

    I caught interest in your channel when your we're going to buy 4 or 5 brand new dump trucks trying to see how you were able to. I'm interested in how much you put down, type of ways to get a loan etc. Didn't really find that out, but watched this video. Most dump trucks in my area get $85 an hour. Plowing snow with state work chemical tanks etc they get I believe $240. Seems winter would be a lot better. I'm looking for ways to purchase a expensive Concrete Boom truck to replace my old one and plow with a 1 ton $102 a hour and my backhoe at $112 hr.

Have make family members in the business but as a female, got a lot of push back from them about being a female in the business. Have a background in small business. Kudos to you Junkie, Nothing better than coming up through the ranks to earn your reputation, the way you have done. Lots of lessons for everyone in your advice both from a business point of view as well as a life point of view. Wanna get anywhere in life, make it your own and work your bollocks off, reaping the rewards comes much later.
    I would just add that its crucial to remind yourself every single day, why your doing it, "What ever it is", for that person. If the answer is not the same one as it was when you started out, its time for a change in your employment.
    Fuck the haters fella, Their only jeleous because you have a better ethic than they do.
    Great video Junkie, Keep them coming and keep it real.

    I agree with the micro managing, employ people you can trust, let them work hard and make the money and leave them alone they'll be happy, my company was like that, happy to give you lunch or a few beers here and there and leave us alone, we'd work hard make the cash and enjoy our fucking lives. Now they're on our asses all the time and don't give anyone anything back, the money's not coming in anymore and everyone is complaining and unhappy! I like your attitude Justin, if ain't broke don't fucking fix it!

    My dad and I just opened our own trucking company and this info is very useful. Ive learned alot about the trucking business in less than a month. I went from fixing ac units for 3 years, taking orders and hearing my boss bitch to working from home dispatching keeping up with expenses annual income and negotiating rates. I do need help with creating a truck driver contract. How or what does a truck driver contract consist of?

    Great vid but I have to ask,have you ever thought about making the repairs and maint aspect a separate entity?There has to be a point where being able to bill one company for stuff would be a tax benefit wouldn't it?Although I'll understand if you'd rather not answer this.
    I myself agree with you on most everything although right now i'm trying to put as much in place before I make the jump via sweat equity and busted knuckles lol.Hence why i asked about building up a dump.There's actually a wreck in a friends tow yard that I'm trying to get now,but we'll see.It's essentially just a decent bed since everything else is toast.But it's a start that I can work on while working my current job.
    I wish more owners would listen about not trying to micro manage (good)drivers.I recently returned to a company i used to tow for and that was part of the deal and for once it's been great for both of us.I see him maybe once every 2 weeks or so to drop money and receipts and thats it.

    So Justin what happens if the construction stops like in 07. I don't see a plan to make all those financial commitments without a study flow of income . I watched a lot of dirt haulers and construction company's go under the last time. I would rather own my old junk out right and pay for the repairs , than have my fleet all under financial contract.that balance sheet looks good accept that it is not calculated for a construction market slow down.

  • @Mrskyelly
    @Mrskyelly 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I like your concept towards your people sir and i like your hustle sir towards making value to the market. I hope this might help you sir. Im also a business owner sir selling construction materials. My number 1 enemy are customers and my number 2 is government. They will suck everything from us and they don’t even fucking care about us just to have their own benefits. They will pressure us and want free services or haggling everything to a point where our profit will be as close to our cost. They will just lie to us and make us like their pet. That’s why i don’t care about customers cause i know the plans to make them buy to us. I appreciate the new knowledge i get from you sir. Thanks for the help. I really do appreciate sir.

    I'm thinking of buying my own dump truck. Called the asphalt place around here. For quads they pay 3.00 a ton in town stuff and stuff far away is around 6.50 a ton. And quad axle hourly is 65/hr. Even if I run the truck myself I don't see how I could profit off of it. I just wanna be my own boss but never ran my own business let alone bought a truck. Been running one for a while it scares the shit out of me
