    Why is this the first time I've ever seen an interview with Tim Cook? This man is quite literally one of the most bright minds I've ever heard, he knows exactly how to answer every question with ease, speed and pleasure, and knows when to say and when to not say things so perfectly and eloquently. I hope to see a lot more interviews with him, this is the type of mind that needs to be on more content to go within our world's consciousness at a more regular basis.

    Great interview. Lots of questions were asked that got Tim to talk about things we never hear an Apple executive mention (competition, crypto, Elon musk, politics, China, negative impacts of their business) but none of it was accusatory and we got to see a calm response on it. Not fully satisfied with 100% of Tim’s answers, specifically those on China and his thing with Musk a while ago, but I liked the interview.

      His statement on bitcoin will not age well. It's like saying in the year 2000 we are not going to have a website because we are a widget company and people invest in us for our widgets. Every company has a website today. The purpose of buying bitcoin is to diversify the cash holdings from 100% fiat to 99% fiat. It applies to every business. If you operate fiat you need to hedge against it. This applies to every company and individual on the planet.

    • @laplacesdemon45
      @laplacesdemon45 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If Apple converted some of their balance sheet to BTC, it would be good for their balance sheet because they would have an inflation hedge that protects their cash from losing its value. Not to mention BTC would probably keep going up (albeit in a volatile manner). This advantage would make the company be worth more, so people would buy more stock as a result. So you have this wonderful tool called Bitcoin. Owning some of it yourself is great. But if you invest in companies, you would like to invest in companies that also use the tool to their advantage.

      You can buy android. Jk. The reality is if things didn’t have a planned obsolescence then demand would drop, jobs would go away, economy implode, and innovation would die. Apple took the right route of being premium as people can buy cheaper phones but they don’t want cheaper phones. The option is there.

    There is a lot of good content in this video, especially around inventory builds and risks to the auto market (invenotry, consumer credit specifically). Being one that traded/invested in 2000 I would caution that the comparisons to companies in that time period is not broad enough. All companies in the Nasdaq were hammered and the great profitable innovators of that time were not spared. AAPL, MSFT, QCOM, CSCO, ORCL were all down 85% or more from their peaks....and AOL = LOL. So as much as the growth companies of today maybe the next AAPL they too can decline much more before this sell off is done.

      Yes the user have the choice, but the industry doesnt have. Devs just can't ignore half of the mobile market. For example while security is important, you can't say that Apple's payment system is only safe payment system in the world, but they allow their own only within an IOS app. Or they don't want to allow cloud gaming platforms where they also argue with security but it's a ridiculous reason. The real reason is that they cannot get their cut of the revenue in a service like that. They just want to rule their platform with their own services without competion which is in this scale is legally questionable.

      That is precisely why I have not and will ever not purchase an iPhone, or any other Apple product for that matter. I would argue that no one should purchase an iPhone, because it is a crippled computer that you are not free to use as you wish as an owner of the device. There are legitimate applications that are not suited for the app store, and Apple does not care. Examples of this can be found in B2B apps, which Apple makes prohibitively complicated and/or expensive for many business cases. Even something as simple as custom or open source software for personal purposes doesn't often suit that model. iPhone is designed for the wealthy layman as a personal phone, and for literally every other use case you would be better off with Android. Even if I wasn't a software developer, I would not purchase it simply in case I ever want to learn development. From the perspective of a software developer, their platform is not inviting. You have to buy more of their products and an annual license to even do it in the first place. Personally I won't be contributing to an ecosystem like that.

    Sir, just a suggestion, if you are going to donate for the people affected by typhoon Odette in the Philippines, I suggest you give it directly to the people and not on the office of the vice president. We still remember what happened to the donations received during typhoon Yolanda. People barely received the donations of which if you give it first to OVP, they are the same person as Yolanda. Thanks and good day.

    I wonder how much negotiation and prep took place behind the scenes between Sorkin and his people and Cook and his people before this interview got the green light? It's not just two guys randomly chewing the cud.

    Apple doesn't really care about your privacy, it's just an advantage of their platform and they simply capitalize it as much as possible because the competition is strong.

    Here's my deal, and mind you I'm a FB investor in my IRA, I never knew all this time they (including every app, not just FB) were tracking my activity outside of the app, and why was that ever allowed in the first place without opting in? Are you telling me that Apple had no control over that from the beginning? That seems outrageous.

    Honestly a 30% doesn’t seem to high when comparing to 50% cuts that other stores and websites do in many industries. At the end of the day apple provide a centralized platform with a massive user base with huge potential to grow if your app is successful.

    Tim Cook should research on the different apps available that would benefit Apple. There are many platforms that would still allow the company to adopt crypto. UDO helps institutions migrate to crypto.
