Actually the real challenge is also a road network free from potholes . Each and every
single road including the rural ones should be good . Every road must meet International quality standard. You will also have work on road discipline with heavy Fines etc should be used. road side beautification like in western and European countries , Road Maintenance. Sadly all this are not being covered on a consistent manner

    • @rav_ku

Roads in us are shit too in many places, so what is international standards?
I pay more than 50lakhs in direct taxes in Europe, max population pays direct taxes too. Everything is costly so indirect taxes are high too, countries are as small as half of India states with even lesser population, but still with same total gdp and taxes from it as of India.
Of course European countries can beautify their little countries more faster.
Indians are everyday begging govt from food to jobs, and you guys deserve beautified roads?
Country full of entitled jobless guys with uselss degrees and worthless political views whining for richer country benefits without any interest in actually working to take their country in that direction.
Next about fines, do you guys allow consequences? If somebody is fined, immidietely they will ask why not the other guy, why not more important issues, why harass a poor perosn, old persoj, sick person, a s gender, x religion, y caste go get out of the consequences... And want European benefits..

India should not have a car-centric transport system. This will only create the worst traffic congestion the world has ever seen, but more importantly, will destroy India's forests and wildlife. Hills will be razed to the ground for all that cement material that goes into creating a wasteful urban sprawl. Death due to road accidents could reach over 10,000 daily, not to mention the high number of roadkill of animals trying to cross the roads.
Instead, India should focus on transit-oriented system for medium and long distance commute, and on improving walking and cycling paths for short-distance commute.

      arey bus kar gyan pelna.
Express ways will be mostly used by trucks to transport goods, which will reduce logistic cost and will help India being competitive for manufacturing.(before you say that can be done by trains: govt is already building western dedicated freight corridor for that.)
Within city infra improvement is a separate thing which is also required but it has nothing to do with expressways.

@surfingguru5360 trucks (trailer carrying containers to ports) are a bad choice to deliver goods. Many drivers are needed and in many countries, the worst people who don't follow rules of the road become lorry drivers. Secondly, drivers are pressured to deliver goods quickly or overload their trucks.
All these will cause other problems like fatal road accidents and frequent pothole formation caused by heavy, overloaded trucks.
A better alternative is freight rail.

Indian roadways aren't nearly expansive enough for even a quarter of the people to travel by car daily. Have you thought about the trees lining our highways? Planting the right trees can provide shade, purify air, and beautify our roads. Experts recommend Neem trees (Azadirachta indica) as a top choice for their adaptability, shade, air-purifying qualities, and medicinal value.
    Other great options include:
Mango (Mangifera indica) and Jamun (Syzygium cumini): Hardy, shade-giving, and fruit-bearing.
Pongamia pinnata (Honge Mara): Perfect for dry climates.
Banyan, Peepal, Amaltas, and Champak: Iconic or ornamental choices with specific benefits.
Key considerations: Deep-rooted trees prevent road damage, low-maintenance species are easier to care for, and local regulations should guide selections.
My request: Can you please keep highlighting this to the authorities and also create specially videos on the type of trees being planted around the highways. Lots of times these are not being considers and even the contractors don't do much about it.
Let’s inspire communities to green our highways and make every journey a joy! 🌱

The government has to choose if they spend one Rs for highways or metro systems or railways. They are long enough in power now. I believe they figured the return on investment, meaning the impact on the life of people, is higher with metro systems and railways.
Any politician who has to decide over such questions should visit Paris and Munich. Paris after WW 2 has only invested in roads till the turn of the century or so. In Munich in this time there was heavy investment in metro and suburban trains.
The effects are there for everybody to see with his own eyes.
Of course one also needs roads. But there are state governments for this.
