There's a limit on exp per day so not worth saving those baits.

You can fish as many times as long as you have the fish bait, but the exp obtained from doing fishing is limit to 20 times per day.

@KingSpadeGaming thanks got it. The daily schedule is too short for busy players like me. Not to mention the evening timing coincides with KVM/UltShowdown. Better save up on baits and fish on rest days.
