- As much as I wanted to enjoy this book, and Lord knows I tried----there are several elements, including: plot, character development and the biggest one 🤨😩 (watch the vid and you'll see what I'm talking about), that weren't connecting well for me. I love the Stalking Jack the Ripper Series and honestly expected more from the novel than what was given. Here's to hoping book #2, Kingdom of the Cursed fills in the plot holes and elevates the story.
If you've read the first novel, what did you think of Wrath and Emilia? What could have made the story flow better? And what annoyed you the most?

Just finished book 2! I agree with you that the first book was very "heavy" with a lot of information that does not click. Not much romance, just dubious actions that could be either because they need each other for some ulterior motive or because they have feelings for one another or maybe both reasons combined. The book ends with a different million questions and not a definitive answer. But one thing was for sure, the first book was meant to show Emilia's change of personality from a carefree teenager into a matured, hurt, vindictive and cautios witch. She never took her powers very seriously and she descended down a path of fury, anger, revenge and empowerment. So the first book was really the change of her personality and her way into literal hell. Accompanied by Wrath. That's why it doesn't have a lot of that romance we were waiting for
Thanks so much for posting this review: I actually had one book in the series in my Amazon recommendations, and I was doubting on whether to get into the series or not. A lot of spoiler-free reviews kind of felt like I was watching one big ad for the books, so it's refreshing to hear an honest take with actual pros and cons.
You're welcome! I try to do honest reviews as much as possible. I know with the more popular novels everyone wants to give it a pass or an immediate 5 ⭐️'s, but not all books are great. This one would have enjoyed more if the mystery was the focal point like the premise states. Also I felt like Wrath was hyped up too much for how the book actually portrays him as a prince of he'll. But definitely read it if you're still interested and let me know your thoughts 😊
Everything you said I agree with!! I thought I was the only one thinking that the plot had some holes or something was missing. I was confused at the end of the book. Definitely disappointed.

Me and my friends like to kjoke about how wattpad like it is. I'm the one reading it and sometimes I share some funny or interesting lines. And every time i share them they are like "so wattpad ish" from the cover, to the writing style. It's nothing bad or good. It's just a consistent theme. I personally am enjoying the book and started the second one 2 days ago. (way more romance in the second). Sometimes there are those "big words" which sometime don't really fit within the context they sometimes feel out of place. But that might just be bc I don't read that much and it's the first book I've picked up after "the secret history" So I have rather high standards. Also I personally dislike the Person Emilia. She is straight out a hot head. Which I don't hate but I'm missing something that balances that out. But she as in a Character is great, enough depth so following her from the 1 peroson Perspective doesn't get boring. Wrath is also a great Character, not so much peroson though(I would not want to hang out with him) He is very honest doesn't really have another choice, is calm collective and has a genuine care for Emilia would never show it trough which makes sense considering the rules of his world. And sometimes he has those moments where he softens up and it's just cute. I'm probably missing a lot I have to say for example the plot etc but I am more a character than a plot person so my judging on that probably isn't that good.
