They actually had something really, REALLY close in the state of play for rebirth, it sounded amazing but was never made into the live game. Unreleased tracks are usually leaked and or put out, so let’s hope for the best!
Personally, I think this remix is really good. It's different from the melancholy tone from the OG version, but I like the fact that it feels more gritty and harsh like the whole place is this time around. I might have a bias since Corel Prison is always a highlight for me lol
it lacks the melancholic tone of the original, which fitted pretty well considering you are supposed to be in a desert prison with no way out and the darker subplot with Barrett and Dyne
Would love to hear why the devs went for such a stark tonal shift in the Corel Prison. I don't hate it, necessarily, just thought the OG's isolation was more thematically appropriate. I don't think it's really to do with "sanitizing" the original like people say either, as it's not just a sanitized version of the OG like some things in the Remake series, it's a complete philosophy shift.
Fun fact: if you go back to the FF7 rebirth state of play, when they get to the music portion of the presentation they play a few seconds of an unused/unfinished version of Desert wasteland. Idk abt other tracks but I could 100 tell the difference with this track. Honestly, I kind of prefer that version over this even though I still think this version is badass.
People hate this but I LOVE it. I think it might be one of my favorite remixes in the entire game. There is no need for melancholy now since Dyne got his own suite now. In rebirth, the area is about Cloud moving around this gritty place and the music is the perfect fit for the place now.
Sure, it's very different from the og one, but I still can very much get the melancholy coming from this, its in a different way. It's gritty, harsh, not welcoming at all, that's what Corel Prison is. Different presentations, same endgame. I liked it. Many probably won't agree with me though, but I'm fine with it.
People here complaining about how the theme doesnt have that melancholic vibe. It's not suppose to considering how the story has been expanded. Corel prison is supposed to be grundgy and desert like which this music invokes. The scene with Dyne has its own melancholic song, which sounds like adgaio for strings. Very emotional string composure.
I feel a bit conflicted. I like this remix in terms of the context, but I also like the desolate hopelessness of the original. Just like they made variations of the other songs from the original soundtrack, I wish they had made a version of this that was true to the feel of the original, and have it play around Barret's conversation with Dyne. -- Rather than have this remix or one true to the original, they could have had both and a few other variations based on the environment and emotional tone.
I think you guys are being a little too harsh. This IS sad, but it's a sadness born from grit and being tired of upperclassmen. At least that's what I get.
This is trash compared to the original OST. Why in god's name would they change it???? I swear the best parts of the original game are ruined in remake/rebirth.

Je préfère 100 fois cette version, déçu...
For those unhappy with this version
While this is still desolate sounding, the original really nailed the hopelessness. I wish they had a melancholy version of this theme in FF7 Rebirth.
Maybe they do that when you revisit in part 3, the whole atmosphere should be bleaker with meteor and all

I love this one more.
yea wth is this. they ruined the whole tone.

Same.
it lacks the melancholic tone of the original, which fitted pretty well considering you are supposed to be in a desert prison with no way out and the darker subplot with Barrett and Dyne
Personally, I like that it turns up the gritty, slummy, scumbag feel of the prison but maybe it could've done with a bit of that melancholy too
@@eyezfrfx4985 it's still good but it gives completely different vibes compared to the original. Anyways, thanks for the upload!
@Luca-ll1yc I wish it had multiple versions. Cosmo Canyon was like that. Like they could use the melow version on the trek to Dyne area
It reminds me a lot under the rotting pizza from remake
100% agree with op
One of the best pieces. Was disappointed that once you finish this area it no longer plays.
It didn’t for me ages as well and then I went back and it was playing again so may be a glitch that will be patched
It actually does
It doesn't for me. Not once you finish all Corel quests and not on chapter 12 @@JayBomb21
@@PetarBladeStrok It plays here again once you've beaten the game and are on chapter select, at least in chapter 13.

Probably because the whispers altered it's fate
Cosmo Canyon is like that too - very very different for seemingly no reason
I absolutely love this version.
I'm 99% certain Uematsu remixed it himself.

I actually skipped that state of play, I should check it
I just watched it and didn't see it anywhere???
You are a LIFESAVER, love the desert riders/Mad Max vibes this song gives off.

ty so much for the upload
As much as i love the original theme, this shows the murky and hooliganism surrounding the prison. I got proper Prison Break Season 2 Sona vibes
Prison Break was so dope, definitely remember Sona! Great reference.

Wheres the part that plays while you round up chocobo food?that bit is siiick. gives me chills
Hmm, I'll have to see 🤔
I never heard much of the original soundtrack on PS1 but when l heard it in the trailers a month ago it caught my eye! Love the guitar bit. ❤
Not sure i could even hear this over all the environment

Love it. Kinda reminds me at Nier Automata
I like this more personally. In fact the whole rebirth soundtrack is far better.
I love this remix.
This song sounds like the downside of America
Lol this is so true.
They seriously ruined the aesthetic of the original by over arranging it. Just give us that sad, hopeless feeling the original did.
I think you guys are being a little too harsh. This IS sad, but it's a sadness born from grit and being tired of upperclassmen. At least that's what I get.
It's not supposed to be sad it's supposed to be scary
That's actually pretty funny to think about 😆
Remix>Original Im sorry. This shit slapping 😂
It literally sounds like it would feel at home in OG FF7.
Not a bad one, but I way way much more preferred the melancholy from the OG one.
This was so disappointing. One of my favourite ff7 songs.
I'm gonna have to say your disappointment is yours and a few other's alone. I respect your opinion though.
low key i was a bit dissapointed as well, I wish it was a bit more similar to the original
Es absolutamente horrible.
Maybe I need to hear the original. This one is minted 😂😂😂
Yeah they didnt delivered here
I haven't said this much with Rebirth's soundtrack, but in this case, the original was so much better.
The original was much better imo
This is trash compared to the original OST. Why in god's name would they change it???? I swear the best parts of the original game are ruined in remake/rebirth.
