Thank you so much for this. I just recently lost my Grandmother, and I have been going down memory lane and I remember going here in 1985 and this takes me right back to that time.
@@cowmissing I'm so sorry I'm just now seeing this, I came back to relive it again, and saw your comment, it was meant to be. Thank you for such a sweet comment. It has been very hard, but videos, and memories like this make it better, thank you for your kind words.
I remember going here with my family n 85. Loved the Blues Brothers car with the megaphone on the roof and the six million dollar man ice tunnel. It is much better today.
I remember being about ten years old. It was 1986 and I was wearing a bright red t shirt with a discreet Australian flag print. I was waving furiously when they asked for volunteers for the screen test. Thankfully they picked me. The plane gently flipped myself and another audience member over while we waved at the camera. We were wearing striped prisoner garbs. I remember watching the finished product- along with a cheering audience- on the big screen. Beautiful memories. I once had the video casette of this, though I have no idea where it is. Still, the magic was palpable: a crowd of strangers felt like a family. I was officially in love with cinema! Thank you for sharing this stunning time capsule.
I'm reading the comments and that's so bloody cool that so many of you got to experience this live and direct! I was born in '83 so yeeeeaaaah I couldn't have enjoyed it.
Likewise. I had a video tape of the screen test, though I have no idea where it is now. Very fond memories; it was the next best thing to being IN the movies.
What an awesome time. My cousin and I got to do the Buck Rogers screen test, my Mom did the wall table, another cousin did the E.T. bike. Best era ever at Universal.
i remember going here in the late 60s/early 70s. all i remember as a highlight was the area covered with foam boulders you could pick up. julie is a tepid hostess, but maybe we'll luck out and get to see them filming "small wonder"
Thank you so much for posting this!!! I remember going to Universal Studios on my 6th birthday in 1985. People don’t believe me when I tell them that you used to get off the tram midway through the tour to do the special effects demonstration. Also, the live TV show filming was something I thought was so cool back then. Great video!
I remember going here with my family in 85. I loved the blues brothers car with the megaphone on the roof and the six million dollar man ice tunnel. The new tour and studios are much better. If you are looking for a tour similar to the one in the 80s, go to Warner Bros studio. It is like universal 40 years ago.
Ahh, I remember that battlestar galatica tunnel :) I just went on the tour last week. Doesn’t have the same charm as it used to, they should have left in the bridge and a few other of these old set pieces. Ugh, and why remove that Conan show? It was awesome! Would much prefer that over some crap like the minions ride.
@@cowmissing I meant in terms of movies. I know that ET Adventure opened in 1991 and Back to the Future opened in 1993. This was more like Post Conan Pre Miami Vice
unfortunately, the hanging rope in the mae west and w.c. fields' 1940 film my little chickadee is gone. i was curios as to if it was still there after all these years, so i had a friend drive by yesterday (march 1, 2024) the livery stable, and he confirmed the rope is no longer there.

The Conan show was awesome., They really need to do a new Conan movie and do it right like the first movie...The one with James Earl Jones as Thulsa Doom. The first movie was the best. The one with Wilt Chamberlain not so much..

I wish I was born earlier and able to go on this version of the studio tour. Love your videos. Please keep posting.
We will. Thank you for commenting. It’s why we do this. We have tons more to come so subscribe so you know when we push them out. Thanks again.
I’m sad 😔 time flys the studio tour is nothing now compared to back then 😢💔

I did this tour in 1980. It was a blast as a kid!

i remember all of that!! what made universal great was the shows and entertainment! the studio tour was amazing!
What a great time capsule! Thank you for sharing!
Fantastic! Thank you so much for sharing this amazing piece of theme park history.
Universal Studios in the 1980s. Cool

Wow, great memories, went on this tour for the first ime in '87, and I remember seeing the Back to the Future lot, it was amazing.
The 80’s were great times at USH.

Thank you for posting this historical video. The parks tried a lot harder back in the 1980s. Now they just want to cash in on rides
Groovy. Like that the shark can walk on it's fins.
Wow. This is just so amazing to see how far we've come. Thank you so much
Omg I loved this I worked during this time stage 30/32 back stage what fun !!!!♡♡♡ thank you for posting this ♡♡♡
You're welcome!!
Great upload! Thanks for the memories!
A different time for sure. Glad you enjoyed it.
I remember this tour ... I remember taking the tour back in the early 1970's
I remember the rolling rocks during the tram tour! I miss the old Universal!
I rode the Studio Tour Tram on my 9th birthday!
That was the year I first visited there.
Yooooooo this was soooooo cool!😁💯👍🏾
Wish this was still a thing!
Wow that brought back some good memories
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.

Wish I had a time machine and relive these memories
I went there in December 1978, I just watched this to refresh my memory, some of the stuff was a bit different and some has faded from memory.
I got to do the audience portion of Buck Rodgers as a kid...

I loved the collapsing bridge - forgot about the parting of the sea.
The soundtrack is groovy.
It is. 🙃
15:31 For your information, the train has a star brass 5 chime whistle
Universal should recreate this for a special event
The red sea is going to be a building now.
i cant believe 1984 was 40 years ago. 40 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

Vintage, cool !
I really hope Universal reopens Collapsing Bridge for the 60th Anniversary
Was there in 85
Me too!!
Some of these attractions are gone. How sad.
yo, manny, ever see a cylon come apart like that?
2:08 is a 100 times better than the "star wars" rise of the resistance ride 🤣
I would guess that this is post ET pre Back to the Future.
Post ET? No way, the ET Adventure opened in 1991.

Great find, how did you reference this?
@@cowmissing Listened to the tracks themselves. These are the album IDs
I understand, how did you reference them? Did you compose the music? What year is this from?
Look out for the train 15:41
Lol @20:18 they reuse the exact crowd reaction sound effect. Ha ha did they think we wouldn't notice. Lol it was harder to rewind in the 1980s
LOL, A lot of the same footage was used over and over in later videos. Good eye! 🤓

Miss it when it was just a studio tour & shows…..now just trying to be another theme park
It was great tour for it day I understand it sucks now
🌎 universal
they should resurrect the collapsing bridge or part the red sea effects on the current studio tour it’s kinda lost its touch in today’s tour offerings
The Collapsing Bridge still exists, just not used. Its right behind King Kong 360:3D.
@@cowmissing i know i just we were able to drive over it again ohh well
I went there when it opend an none of the rides worked I wanted to go in!
Where is King Kong?
King Kong opened in 1986.
