I agree. A good Longines will last you for life; wear it all the time. It will look as good as the day you bought it. Compare that to $200 watches

Longines, official timekeeper for the first Olympic Games in 1896. They also made the first chronograph wristwatch in 1913.
I love that they're still working out of their original building #roots. I'm lucky enough to own a mechanical HydroConquest Chronograph. It's 12 years old but it looks like new and is accurate to within 5s per day.

In High School I worked at Carl’s Diamond Brokerage/Carl’s Jewelry. We carried many fine quality Watches. Longines was one of the fine quality Watch Brands. One of my best friends Father could not wear many watches because he was one of the rare individuals who “magnetized” watches. I put him in a Longine and he wore that watch for many years and would buy nothing else but Longine. Longine, in my opinion, ranks with the Best Watches in the World!
Fact: I purchased my first Longines watch recently from a Thrift Store online selling on eBay. It was on a short bid, and won it at $54. It is a 70s Olympian Mechanical watch, just mailed it our yesterday to have it appraised and get a estimated cost for service, cleaning, and polishing. Wish me luck!
Longines is my favorite watch brand. Elegant, excellent quality, and much more affordable than other Swiss luxury watch companies.

I Learned about Fine Time Pieces working at Carl’s Diamond Brokerage/Fine Jewelry in High School. Longines was one of the Fine Watch Lines We Carried. My best Friend’s Father and Grandmother “magnetized Watches”.... I put them in a Longines and they found Watches they Loved, enjoyed, And Time Pieces they wore the rest of their lives! They purchased several Models! I love Longines Beauty, quality, and durability!

Longines and Omega are my favourites watches brands. I own a Longines Conquest Heritage and a Omega Speedmaster Professional (moon watch) and both since along time ago and in perfect condition and working perfectly.
I love my longine..maybe the best piece of my collection..
Longines VHP is the Worlds most accurate watch with +/- 5secs a year. This is a commendable feet of engineering

@@NikhilThekken Firstly the price point of Grand Seiko Quartz is must larger. The precision of Grand Seiko Quartz is +/- 10secs a years which is slightly less precise than Longines V.H.P
Even modified ETA developed Quartz Movement which Tissot uses in few of their models has accuracy maximum upto +/- 10secs a year.
But, best part about the Grand Seiko Quartz Movements are they have BPS.
the most accurate watch is citizen 0100. it runs +/- 1 second per year
The most accurate watch would be a radio/satellite controlled watch like citizen or g shock make, I would have thought?

The two watches handed down to me by my grandfather were a gold Tissot (Seaster Seven) and a Longines, (Flagship) both manual wind from the 60's and 34 - 35mm. As a late teen and 20's, I never wore them at first but as I got older I started to appreciate the quality and elegance of the pair and when I got the Longines serviced from the London department store, the manager took a note of the watch number and came up with my Grandads name and date of purchase, I told him it was handed down the family. He had a word with his manager and they decided to service the watch for free as they like their classic timepieces to continue to be used and seen for many generations to come. My mind was blown for the quality of service.

LONGONES VHP probably most accurate watch in the world; also one of the sharpest : the lugs, the winder protectors and connection between case and bracelet are sharp enough to cut flesh ! Poorest finishing I ever wore .

This is a cheesy content-spam video, but I still crave a Legend Diver. I agree with others who appreciate the class without the absurd price tags, and Longines is cool that way. Don't get me wrong, I'm also a sucker for the crazy price points. But Longines is in a good place in the market, offering excellent value in legitimately serious watches. They do use ETA movements, which are excellent -- very accurate, reliable and serviceable. This is standard practice in this price range, and there's nothing inherently wrong with it. However it's also true that that the same movements are built into much cheaper watches. But I'm still getting a Legend Diver... that's unless I get the call from my Rolex AD. It's just no use trying to make sense of it, once bitten.

Longines timed the Lindbergh trans Atlantic flight in 1927 even before developing the Angle Hour watch. Longines also was important in Norwegian explorer Raoul Amundsen's journeys. IMO this horse racing crap cheapens the brand.
