  • Learn the two methods used in order to delete files from the 3DExperience platform. On the platform, we can use the use the Bookmark Editor or the Collaborative Lifecycle App to delete files. The Bookmark Editor lets you organize and manage both CAD and non-CAD files. The Collaborative Lifecycle App is used to manage the lifecycle of objects from creation to deletion and collaboration. This video will give you step-by-step instructions on how to delete files using both of these applications on the 3D Experience Platform.

This whole cloud ecosystem might be advantageous for big enterprises with hundreds of solidworks users and an admin keeping the overhead. However I don't see any sense in forcing this overkill on holders of a single maker license. It just took me over thirty minutes to figure out how to delete a file and the whole process is so complicated that I'd be surprised if I remembered it tomorrow. Regarding usability there's A LOT of room to improve...

thanks for the video...but considering there is a tutorial on just how to delete an item, shows how poor the user interface is lol

      I agree, it's just ridiculous.

@@OTMM22 Wait, until you have to delete an instances which is related to another instance/s!

I finally managed to figure out how to delete files with this video but it takes 7 clicks or 10 seconds per item. I have around 50 items to delete due to an import process being so confusing, how can I bulk delete items?

Okay, so, I don't know if this is efficient or not, but this is my process. Say you're like me and you have multiple files of the same thing because you don't know how to save catia v6 3d experience style.
--Well for mass delete and finding all the children/references of assemblies. --I use the 'collaborative industry innovator' app IN THE BROWSER , not the desktop app itself.
click "search for content" then right click on it and click on the relations, click on all the relations on the + side and - side of every thing till you cant get far enough. then go to multi selection tool and select everything.
then with everything selected click on the blue 3d compass again and find the 'collaborative life cycle' BROWSER app again and open it (AGAIN IN BROWSER) and then delete.
Still quite a process but I hope this helps for every other student like me who has been forced into catia v6 student license and decided to overload 3d space memory.

also a good tool in relations is the "expand all neighbors" and "expand all predecessors" button now you are cooking with gasoline with the deletion button

Quick update: you can go to the 3d space go to the file you need and highlight everything you need to and open all of it in "collaborative life cycle"

If the file was deleted by mistake, is there a way to find a backup?

i nearly had an aneurism when i found out the save button saves files to the cloud instead of the local drive, which takes forever. Shame on D.S. for lowering the quality of their product

It won't work unless the permission setting are properly done. No detailed tutorials or documents are provided to do the permission setting properly. Even the engineers working in the software distributors do not know how to do it, as there are so many options. Even when using the admin account, I cannot even delete files. The company is pushing the users to adapt to their system.

We just set up the cloud and 3DExperience for our company.... The next step is to get away from these clowns and change the whole CAD system. The entire 3DExperience platform is the worst thing I have ever seen.

This has to be the worse idea the engineers at solidworks have ever came up with. It took me over an hour of searching just to learn how to delete files from the stupid cloud app. This collaborative spaces is junk. Makes you feel like you are locked into a system and they own your files. I know they dont but this is what it makes it feel like. And what is with the constant logging in and having to use the desktop shortcut that has to be downloaded from the web app. The whole ecosystem is junk.

3DX is so bad. Simple things are so complicated.

What a poorly designed system. It is horrible to use. Slow, unintuitive and overcomplicated. Cannot find a way to do the most simple task. Disappointing.
