    I remember seeing this film in Perth in the late 70s as a kid......was showing at the local library/ civic centre, not even at a cinema...but stayed with me :)

    Just picked up the 3 full movies on dvd. Used to watch this in the states at 1:00am. Not sure what channel

    watched this on American TV in the 90's, on travel channel I think...the real deal, I guess most everything peaked

      Fair point. By this time the Navy had abandoned all the equipment and materials left there, and it was the property of Palmyra's private owners, who were probably happy someone was taking it off the atoll for them!

    Petrol goes bad pretty quickly.
    Not sure how they would go with decades old fuel.

      May in a container that's been opened, but it'll last damn near forever in a full, sealed metal drum

      That's right, plus petrol had lead in it back then which made it last longer.
      Leaded petrol was also better for engines and gave more power, today's petrol is weak as piss in comparison.
