- Projects, Projects and more Projects! This blown motor Mitsubishi Evo X is one that we can wrap up though. Today! In that last episode we discovered that this non running auction Evo came with the surprise of having been repo'd in its previous life. Whether that was before or after it destroyed a valve is the question.
What's done is done though. The old motor is out and the new one ready to be installed. It's time to see if this Evo can be put back on the road without any further issues or expenses. Speaking of expenses, we break down the cost involved in this repair. Spoiler, it doesn't look good for our bottom line!

How did they tow it with the wrecker without the back wheels locking up? It’s all wheel drive and they didn’t even have dollies
based off of rarity of the car, you should be able to sell in the mid $20k range. The issue with the SST is the shift fork magnets, and you don't know its an issue until it is an issue. Will make a great daily driver, though range is limited with sub 20mpg average and a small fuel tank.
No one is paying mid 20k for a mr evo. Once an mr goes over 100k people are very reluctant in touching that glass trans especially if they look up the vin and see it was in a salvage yard. 15-18k on a good day for a 100k+ mr from a salvage yard

Oh yeah this MR easily goes for 20 to 26k
If it was a gsr maybe or unless it had 60kish miles on the dash. 100k MRs with a salvage yard vin goes for 15-18k
$17k before parts get sold is a lot. I hope you break even at least, but with the downturn of the used car market...ouchie on this car with 114k miles.

Planning on buying a Evo MR at auction bad motor, (I have extra motor from a ralliart). do you guys use a specific company for shipping? or do you recommend those companies Copart and Iaai uses

first mistake was to buy the sst trans... you put any power in that tranny..... bye bye. I don't know if you can swap out the trans but 5 speed is the way to go for a 10. The resale value is a lot more too.
Maybe re build the oled motor and sell it its not a big issue

Where did you get the rolling cart to move a car chassis? I just started at a shop about a month ago and we could really use one of those.
From uline. U have to brace the structure with some steel tubing so it holds up to car chassis tho. Otherwise it will fold in half lol.

The shop for over a year has had the chassis of a JDM import GTR (R32 I think?) taking up one of the 4 lifts for almost a year now, with everything disassembled getting full restoration and rebuild. But the owner has basically abandoned the car, we’re pretty sure and in the month I’ve worked here there has been just too much business and that chassis isn’t making any money right now so gettin one of these to move it out of the way would basically increase our profits by at least 25%.
@@scraplifegarage update: that thing was exactly what we needed! Within a hour of delivery we got a lift back to get some real work done!
A friend of mine bought a Mitsubishi Commercial van, and knew a mechanic working at Mitsubishi, on top. It did cost him a hell of a lot to keep the car functioning, even with the percentage from the M. mechanic buys for it. And service on my old Peugeot was a lot less expensive than buying M stuff.

that truck is spacious they fit that car and they still had like a foot on each side free i didn't know they were that wide

Good job putting it back on the road, not many left. Selling it will be hard simply for it being the MR, it’s the heaviest. The roof also carry’s a sunroof with a steel roof vs the aluminum roof the GSR has. The trim plates varied on different years and packages could be black and could be faux carbon pattern. The leather seats arent what interest people due to how the leather wears. Not to mention the trans will limit hp if people wanted to modify it. Don’t go too far in the hole with this one, if it was a GSR you’d get it sold in probably less than a week. The MR tends to sit in lots.
