    That’s extraordinary pricing. I’d pay US$500 tops. But $2000…. don’t make too many units.

      Exactly what I was gonna say… I think they took themselves a bit toooo seriously… it’s for EF lens, too. How many people who wants this kind of features and are willing to pay $2k for it are also currently using EF glass with their Sony FE bodies…?

      Being that you can get the look of K35s for the price of $2000 and not $135,000, I think they’re going to sell quite a few.

      @@ed61730 Yeah I know, I have a friend who uses a Canon 24-70 L with her FX3, but I don't think that necessarily means people would want to spend $2000 extra on EF "accessories" today since I assume they eventually need to go. IMO, If you are that serious about the look and detail for a production, just rent the arri signature primes with the built-in diopters. Or maybe I'm just ignorant and they will sell a bunch of em.🤷‍♀

    Its a variable black mist filter 😅 wait til smallrig or other brands like neewer and viltrox make a dummy mount and charge WAAAAYYY less and they will be a hit! Moment is out of their minds for a price point of that size $2000 USD for baking in a look x.x

    Cool concept. L3 is particularly interesting to me, but sadly not for $2000USD. $500 maybe. Hopefully they’re successful and manufacturing can become cheaper.

  • @Tomas_and_liza
    @Tomas_and_liza ปีที่แล้ว +14

    A 2k adapter should at least have a foot and locking ring for serious use. L2 looks decent, but the other two are way over board, even in their minimum setting.

  • @108u9

    For the working pro, the question is how often would one need this look. If it’s for a one off job, or even select jobs, perhaps renting the actual lenses would be a better option. If you build your entire reel off this one look, I suppose it would be a justifiable purchase.
    The issue of not full frame coverage isn’t really that much a selling point. The lower end pro has access to different camera formats. The high end pros would probably have the budget to get custom solutions to fit whatever the director, DP is looking for.
    Maybe it can find a market with rental houses who cannot get their hands on these older lenses. Or the hobbyist with the discretionary income.
    It’s good that folks are innovating and trying stuff. Otherwise the industry is stuck with the same old and just incremental spec bumps version to version

    • @Superbustr
      @Superbustr ปีที่แล้ว

      From F22 to F2.8 the look is subtle and the adapter can certainly be left on the lens for a whole shoot at these apertures. From f2.8 to F1.4 you get more of the extreme plus look. It is variable so if you are into the small details you can fine tune it with the dial.

  • @darrenchoy

  • @hopethathelps

    Very nice and clever idea. When you ask 2k you are in PL land. €500 seems the right price for what you offer, i expected 250- 300 to be fair. Its still an effect and not the real thing. You might want to buy 3 to have in your bag but not at 6k. Going trough a budget company with a high end priced product doesnt seem smart. You might want to make up your mind. People rent high end lenses. This adapter is focused on more budget aprouch. Ef lens is probly cheaper then the adapter. Its also for one system lens and camera, so you better not switch down the road. Maybe modelair mounts? At 2k hard no. At 500 you have something going on. Its hard to put a product on the market, but you seem torn up between two segments, pick one. Good luck!

  • @DevonBlueWhitaker

    2K for an adapter? LOL save up and buy a good lens instead or buy a cheap vintage lens. This is priced too high for something that would be considered a fad a pose to an industry standard.

    I see this as something people would still rent over purchase. It is a cool look but not something that has too many applications outside of what a lens filter can do and has been doing for decades.

    It looks super exciting and the intentions behind this product are totally legit. I'm 100% a target for this. But me too, for the price, I'll pass for now, because of too many deceptions with other gadgets. 1000 USD is fairly high for an adapter that hasn't been largely reviewed. And 2000 USD is a commitment price, the kind of money I'd rather save to buy a lens.

  • @area51pictures
    @area51pictures ปีที่แล้ว

    It's 2 grand because its not a lens adapter. It's a compact optical tuning device made by Ian Neill, the guy who won 13 oscars and designed the panavision primos.

  • @kelvinzyteng
    @kelvinzyteng ปีที่แล้ว +2

    No Idea why don't get a soft filter, mist filter or cinebloom for the look. They are so many adapter manufactures that are cheap too.

    • @RedCameraBoss
      @RedCameraBoss ปีที่แล้ว

      The look is variable. Soft effect and mist filters are only available as straight filters. If you were to buy a set of 4 large front diameter pro mist filters at varying strengths it would cost you at least $600 with a reputable brand. Then add on the variability. Then add on the Vintage inspired looks.

    I had an idea an year ago and I came up with Sony E mount lenses mod that can change the optics. What I did was to mount the lens on a simple macro tube with contacts to keep the AF and all functionality and to counter the macro focus I ordered negative diopter lenses from the local optics (where they make glasses) so I will be able to focus on portraits, not only macro. The optics go crazy in a very similar way. But I keep the AF, those adapters will have AF on E mount only for stills, in video they will not work...

    • @Superbustr
      @Superbustr ปีที่แล้ว +4

      This adapter has optical lens elements inside of it. It's not a filter and it's not an empty lens-less macro tube. Essentially it is a calibrated optical product... you can't compare it to putting Vaseline on a clear filter or using a cheap hollow macro tube.

    • @MarcosElMalo2

      The people most likely to buy these adapters use assistants to pull focus.

    • @SimeonKolev
      @SimeonKolev ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Superbustr the optical elements in this adapter are ment to do one thing - correct the aberration and curve the focal plane. It is basically making the lens worse to gain character. Also it is a lottary what you will get from different lenses since they are not designed the same and the adapter can not be designed to work the same with all of them.
      Do not get me wrong :) I love the idea and I had that in mind for a long time which is why I tried modding my Sony E mount lenses. My only concern is the 2K$ price but I am sure somebody else will do it cheaper sooner or later. And the other problem for me is that on Sony E mount there will be no AF in video.

    • @Superbustr
      @Superbustr ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If comes down to the point, do you want to shoot in camera / in lens for a more organic look or do you want to apply a grade that cannot replicate the look of actual glass?
      People want the option to have something special or unique to them and getting slightly different looks between Canon L lenses can do that.
